New thread. Woke (blooming cat) to find it’s nearly full.

But following on in the jumper discussion, DH has ordered me this one for Christmas: www.carriercompany.co.uk/products/copy-of-shetland-lambswool-jumper-15?variant=40927247368245. It's just like my lime one, which I love. I'm quite a fan of yellow, these are beautiful jumpers and I couldn't resist the sale price. Nice to have an orangey yellow as well as a yellowey green one!

mizu · 08/10/2024 07:08

The wool walking socks from the Carrier company are lovely too. Gorgeous colours.

Poplinskirt · 08/10/2024 08:52

Has anyone seen the Organic pleat front cord trousers on Toast Brooklyn insta?
Gosh they look absolutely gorgeous and I love the styling with the Charcoal poncho
Aaaargh!
Was set on the Annie's now I really fancy these .

IlovePond · 08/10/2024 12:16

I do have a sneaking fondness for a poncho @Poplinskirt - think it’s a hangover from my childhood, when me and my brother sported matching ones 😹

faustina · 08/10/2024 17:01

@Netcam - well at least you have one pair of lovely trousers. Oddly the wax green in 6 were quite a lot smaller - felt more like two sizes really, so I am hoping they don't stretch (like the cord version seem to). I've worn mine a few times now and they've been ok

Thank you for the carrier company jumper link - the shetlands are very tempting. I should be looking for a cardigan (hole in my wardrobe for one) - instead I am being drawn either to that shetland, or the alpaca stripe Toast jumper. I will probably try the alpaca first because it's been on my Wishlist forever

Just discovered a wonderful knitwear company via a drop on Instagram, the most deliciously cosy looking jumper modelled by one of the Graham st women.
Charl knitwear , the one I love is called Craske.
Suffer badly feeling the cold so it seems sensible to stock up ! ( Instead of buying more Toast Summer dresses I’ll never get time or occasion to wear)

OftenOrange · 08/10/2024 17:14

Here it is .

That’s a lovely jumper @OftenOrange !

Poplinskirt · 08/10/2024 18:52

I had a purple one @ilovepond and purple flares 😂

That's a gorgeous jumper @OftenOrange
I love a roll neck

Netcam · 10/10/2024 09:31

Shetland wool carrier company jumper arrived (Xmas present from DH, but had to try it on). The wool is lovely and soft and I really like the colour.

I got a M and it is quite big on me, longer and with longer sleeves than the Croft House one I have in an M which looks to be knitted from the same seamless pattern, but perhaps not by the same company.

I kind of wondered whether to return it for an S, but actually think I'll keep the M as I could fit a couple of merino long sleeved tops under this and I do really feel the cold, especially when WFH.

It’s a lovely colour on you @Netcam It is loose on you, but as you say, it depends if/how you are going to layer it.

ScottishMouse · 10/10/2024 17:50

Looks great @Netcam. I am a fan of oversized knitwear so I think the size looks good.

I agree, I guess I have some tighter fitting jumpers and some looser fitting ones. The looser fitting ones are really useful when it's absolutely freezing. In the depths of winter I am known to wear 4 or 5 layers of wool tops and 3 layers of wool bottoms.

IlovePond · 10/10/2024 18:32

I like it very much @netcam - such a lovely colour!

faustina · 10/10/2024 18:50

@Netcam that looks great! I'm also a fan of big jumpers

Have tried it on and it's to dieee for. Super warm and chic, felt like a million bucks in it (if only I had a million bucks for it). Bit of a shame about the dry clean only

Thanks for the feedback and apologies for my slow reply! I’ve tried two coats. The grey herringbone coat is very beautiful, excellent quality and hangs well but I prefer the mustard reversible coat as the colour suits me better. Although fabulous quality, the grey coat is quite heavy to wear but will be
very warm I’m sure. I ended by buying the mustard reversible and am very happy with it. I love how you can cuff the sleeves with grey.

These are interesting comments about the Edinburgh Toast store. Until this summer it was the only one I had ever visited so had nothing to compare to. I visited Shoreditch and thought it pretty rubbish in comparison to Edinburgh, so I am now wondering what the other better ones are like as I have always thought the Edinburgh one pretty good.

mizu · 11/10/2024 08:23

I quite liked the Edinburgh one, very friendly staff Grin I also like the Notting Hill one and it's really big. I remember going to the Bath one a few years ago and it wasn't a great experience.

IlovePond · 11/10/2024 08:36

The Bath store is quite big - for a Toast shop, Richmond is tiny as is the one in Mayfair. Shoreditch and the King’s Rd are also small. Shepton Mallet is positively palatial by comparison!

If you go to an event, the staff are great but service in shops on normal days can vary and the lack of stock in store is frustrating. The last time I tried to try things on in the KR branch, only two items were available in my size and no, I wasn’t going to trot over to Notting Hill to see if they had the others 😹

IlovePond · 11/10/2024 08:47

Just had an email advertising the new Xmas decorations. They are lovely, but I don’t need any more. (Let’s face it, I didn’t need the ones I got in the sale last year either!)

I was hoping the advent calendars would go into last year’s sale, but no joy. I do like them, but £10.95 for a bit of card seems steep. I’ve seen them irl, and, whilst lovely, I would only buy one if reduced. I did see some for £6.95 once in a different shop, but for reasons best known to myself didn’t buy one😿

Edit: Tbf, probably because it was June😹

PeonyBlush10 · 11/10/2024 09:39

I’ve always found the Edinburgh staff to be very friendly and helpful but I only visit a few times a year.

AmethystMoonShine · 11/10/2024 10:13

I can honestly say the most consistent Toast shop for a good experience for me is Oxford. Staff are friendly and very helpful without being intrusive. They've always had my size in stock upstairs if not on the rail and they always chat about the clothes too - what they've got their eye on and the things they've been trying on. I'd quite like to work there :)

Stoic123 · 11/10/2024 11:16

My local shop is York and I've always found staff friendly- friendlier than the Cambridge, Marylebone, Mayfair, Shoreditch and Notting Hill branches which are the other ones I've tried. Notting Hill was good for stock.

I also like the look of the reversible coat.

Stoic123 · 11/10/2024 11:19

Has anyone tried/bought the alpaca arm warmers? I am strangely drawn to them.
