New thread. Woke (blooming cat) to find it’s nearly full.

Thank you everyone for your kind wishes. DS2 is making good progress. Smile

My toast dress is arriving on Monday, but I might have to wait a couple of days to try it on.

TosstTastic · 28/09/2024 12:12

Can anyone guess when the sale disappears?
Monday at the stroke of midnight or first thing in the morning.
I didn't order multiple sizes so might want to go for another option. My order is due on Monday.

faustina · 28/09/2024 12:44

I think it usually disappears at midday but I might be wrong - very annoying if you want to change for another size.

My trousers arrived today - same order but different sizes. The gabis in a 6 fitted but not as nicely as the 8s and thank goodness I reordered the 8s as soon as I noticed they were on sale! So I'm keeping them, slouchy as they are and if they stretch I will just live with it. The check alix in a S are just the same fit as my old 8s and the fabric is so beautiful. Not sure how much longer I'll be able to continue wearing them this year but they're too lovely to leave unbought until next spring!

So @Netcam there is an 8 in wax green which should already be back at Toast and a 6 on its way

I ordered a couple of hemp and cotton tshirts too which will be here on Monday

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 28/09/2024 13:12

My Cord gabis arrived today along with 2 sale orders. My last sale order for the blue heavy rolled edge tee, made on Thursday, remains unfulfilled so I suspect that will be cancelled.
The gabis are a good fit, thanks for advising sizing down @faustina .

Both of the sale orders I received are keepers:
The cotton canvas gilet is still quite oversized in the S/M and I didn't realise it flared at the bottom, and I don't know how I'm going to wear it. But I still love it.
The artichoke denim shirt is a good weight and the 12 is a good fit to wear over a tee as well as on its own, I wish I'd ordered the woad colour as well as I think 2 of these shirts would be really useful.

IlovePond · 28/09/2024 13:42

Hi,

My first order arrived today and it’s all going back 😿

The garment dyed linen trousers in Puck are both huge, (and very unflattering), and too tight due to a ridiculously low crotch.

How a pair of trousers manages to be both baggy and constricting at the same time is a mystery.

The Japanese linen socks feel very rough and scratchy, (to me - I am very fussy about touch), unlike the very soft and thick blue cotton ones from the same makers that I got in Shepton Mallet.

Hilariously they are very different sizes - see pics!

I feel that the Toast sale could easily be worked into something a long the lines of Jerry Springer ,the Opera.
I'm currently waiting in the what have I ordered, why that size act. The first act, recognition of a rejected item that previously held so much hope is almost comical but swiftly moves to an optimistic feeling of an item suspiciously slashed heavily slashed and with all sizes available.

Can everyone please fill in the website reviews for their returns, you save me from myself.

IlovePond · 28/09/2024 13:55

😹@TosstTastic - if Toast invite me to review, I will be sure to do so!

faustina · 28/09/2024 16:05

@TosstTastic - at least it'll be over soon which slightly lessens the likelihood of buying things 'because they're so reduced'. I'm already at the stage of being embarrassed when the postman has to deliver and collect yet another brown bag. I keep looking at those indigo twill barrel leg trousers even though I know I tried on the khaki ones ages ago and they looked dreadful on me!

Stoic123 · 28/09/2024 16:26

Popping on to read the sales chat.

Single sale item bought (linen dress) which arrives Monday. I wore Toast linen dresses often this summer and enjoyed them. My saved items list is now the shortest it has ever been since discovering Toast - just a quilt and some napking rings.

It's still over 2 months away but I'm looking forward to getting out the Xmas decorations, furoshiki gifts, crackers etc that I went mad over in last year's winter sale 😬.

IlovePond · 28/09/2024 16:46

Ooh yes, @Stoic123 - I remember last year - we bought the crackers and the furoshiki boxes - I still plan on getting one of each out per year for the next few years, (as I am the only one in the house who will be interested!)

IlovePond · 28/09/2024 16:52

I actually left out my large brown/orange baubles all year in a bowl as room decor. I shall be getting out the mini baubles and metal ones on 1/12!

I forgot to say a while back: If any of you live near Otterton Mill/are visiting nearby, upstairs in the old building, they are selling various colours/patterns of the large baubles that Toast were/are selling. Very likely by the same makers, (looked identical to me), but a few pounds cheaper and loads of different colours:

I restrained myself, (but only because I developed a bauble problem last year and need help…😹)

Stoic123 · 28/09/2024 17:13

@IlovePond 😂. It got a bit frenzied for a while.

The new Toast baubles are now online and I'm pleased that I prefer the ones I bought last year. I am planning to use the Furoshiki gifts as mantlepiece decorations.

Not sure about the crackers but thinking maybe for a pre Christmas dinner with close girlfriends. They will appreciate more than family.

IlovePond · 28/09/2024 18:10

I am very much looking forward to the crackers/furoshiki boxes @Stoic123 even though I am the only one who will appreciate them! We can compare notes at Xmas!

As I am sending all of my first order back: Weirdly fitting trousers and unsuitable socks - I have bought the cord jacket I been wanting from Uniqlo instead. First time using TCB - I checked to see if Toast were signed up to it, (I knew they wouldn’t be). Hilariously, TCB offered me Morphy Richards and Breville, because, well, toast😹

Netcam · 28/09/2024 18:57

Thanks so much @faustina, I contacted them but they are not showing as in stock yet, so I have to try again on Monday.

Regarding the size, in colder weather I like to wear thick merino leggings under my trousers, and when it's really cold it'll be Falke merino tights, then merino leggings, then trousers on top. So a bit of space for all of that would be welcome.

ScottishMouse · 28/09/2024 20:26

Hope nobody minds a cheeky non-Toast question. I have had a poke about other corners of mumsnet but I trust the opinions here the most.
Does anyone have Sweaty Betty explorer trousers (either regular or winter weight), and if so do you love them? Do you wear them for everyday and not just exercise/walking? A friend raved about them, I tried them in JL and they seemed too good to be true fit-wise, but I couldn’t quite get past the fabric for everyday. That said, I have their racer explorer dress and wore it so much in the summer.

ScottishMouse · 29/09/2024 17:42

Ha ha! I killed the thread with non-Toast talk.
Ignore the question, I had another look at them today and I’m sticking with my initial reservations about the fabric.

ToastCosILoveIt · 29/09/2024 19:20

@ScottishMouse , I read your post this morning and then by chance was in Sweaty Betty this pm and tried on those very trousers (didn’t realise they were them until I got home and was rebrowsing this thread). They are a lovely cut and flattering but I agree with your comment about the fabric and I would be wearing them in a casual setting only - at weekends with a jumper or sweatshirt or perhaps travelling which is what a lot of the reviews point to their purpose being. I was very tempted to buy them but decided to think on it as I wasn’t sure if I have a space for them in my life. They would indeed be lovely walking trousers, smart but casual and oh so comfy. Are you going to buy them?

faustina · 29/09/2024 20:35

@ScottishMouse I've never tried the explorer trousers, but I can vouch for the quality of the power leggings which I use for gym stuff only - they look as new after daily wear for a good few years - literally indestructible!

ScottishMouse · 29/09/2024 21:13

How funny @ToastCosILoveIt! I think I am going to pass on them, but know they are there should I need something like that for travelling/walking etc. I dress very casually for work (I work with kids), so could wear them pretty much everywhere in my life, but I am usually a leggings/athleisure for the gym only kind of person, so I’m not sure I would actually wear them much.
@faustina I love SB leggings for the gym. Also love their sports bras, always a tricky thing to shop for but my SB ones are so much better than any other brands I have tried.
Back to Toast chat now folks - I am expecting my jersey vests tomorrow. My basket arrived yesterday and will be staying, though I have no idea what I will use it for yet. It’s the hogla platter one - what does anyone use this for?

I think for that price you could get some really nice non synthetic comfy trousers. I swear by these, they are 88% merino and machine washable. I am on my second pair, the first one lasted about 5 years with lots of wear. I also have a couple of spares in a box under the bed that I got in the sale for the future.

They look a lot nicer than regular joggers, can be dressed up a bit and the fabric is lovely. This model has been discontinued so they are a great price: www.alpinetrek.co.uk/icebreaker-womens-crush-pants-tracksuit-trousers/?searchparam=Icebreaker%20-%20Women%27s%20Crush%20Pants%20-%20Tracksuit%20trousers

Netcam · 30/09/2024 09:23

@faustina, kind of given up on the wax green Gabis, it says they won't be available to order until your refund has been processed, which will be after the end of the sale. Let's see how I get on with the rose madder size 8, which haven't even been despatched yet.

faustina · 30/09/2024 09:44

@Netcam - it is a very frustrating thing. I think I was waiting for a jacket in the last sale that one of the other people on this thread had returned. They will send it out to you even if the sale has ended so long as you know what the code is. I just checked and it was delivered back to them on Saturday so hopefully they will process my return today - will let you know when I hear - and find the code for you. In the meantime hope they despatch your rose madder gabis soon!

AubrieDog · 30/09/2024 10:11

Any idea when the next sale will be please, folks? The dresses on my list were not in this mini sale.
Will it be around Yuletide?

PeonyBlush10 · 30/09/2024 13:33

I’ve just bought the mustard reversible coat and I love it. I tried it on as an afterthought as I was leaving the shop. It didn’t look special to me on the hanger but I loved it as soon as I put it on. Lovely shape and gorgeous reveal of grey wool lining when left open. I like it best with the sleeves turned up to show off more of the grey wool. It comes up large, I sized down. Grey side is ok too but needs scarves/ accessories to break the colour. Useful to have the reversible option but I prefer the mustard side, it suits my colouring more, I need a bit of colour to lift my skin tone.

IlovePond · 30/09/2024 13:37

@AubrieDog - I think the winter sale started last year as soon as the last posting date for Xmas had gone.
