New thread. Woke (blooming cat) to find it’s nearly full.

@mizu yes it is this

Toasties can we go on chatting forever? Looks like it!
AFingerofFudge · 27/09/2024 08:00

@mizu I have no money for new (full price!) things but the refreshments and free gift reeled me in, and happily coincided with my day off!

mizu · 27/09/2024 08:07

Ah have a great time - wonder what the gift is. I may wander down tomorrow.

ScottishMouse · 27/09/2024 08:47

@AFingerofFudge i went to a styling event at the Edinburgh store earlier this year that promised refreshments and a free gift. There were (non-alcoholic) drinks - I seem to remember it being something with ginger - but no gifts at all. Hopefully they have remembered the gifts for you this morning!

Netcam · 27/09/2024 08:49

Had a good look through the sale items properly this morning lying under the duvet instead of getting up and doing my usual before work exercise.

Ended up ordering the Gabis in madder rose in the 8, really wanted the wax green but decided to give these a try since I missed the colour I really wanted. I quite like the madder rose colour too and have had my eye on the Gabis for months and want to see if they might work for me.

Also ordered the linen cotton short sleeved shirt in sage. Got an 8 and a 10 to try as I am bigger on top. True Fit suggested an 8 but I can't always trust that and generally wear 10 tops and 8 bottoms.

IlovePond · 27/09/2024 09:40

Looking forward to hearing how your event went @AFingerofFudge . I really enjoyed the one I attended.

@ScottishMouse - the gift I got last week was the black longpi stubby candleholder:

https://www.toa.st/products/longpi-stubby-candle-holder-black-clay?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=18437612054&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIndjw6NriiAMV2ZZQBh36whEYEAQYBCABEgJIOPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I promptly dropped it out of its box when I got home and chipped it. I have coloured the chip in with black felt tip and it looks ok!

I have found it can be a bit hit and miss if the staff remember to give out the gift. The first event I went to it was another longpi candlestick/tealight holder, and we also got 15% off purchases so there was a bit of a shopping frenzy in-store! The second time I got a Vietnamese dip bowl, (which was nice as I had two of the cereal bowls already).

Our Short Longpi Candle Holder is made in north-east India from ground black stone and locally found clay. It is left in the sun to dry out, then woodfired.

ScottishMouse · 27/09/2024 09:57

Oh yes, @IlovePond, that reminds me that there was a discount promised for the Edinburgh event too, but on the day no discount. 🤷‍♀️
I love those longpi pieces, I have a plant pot and the tealight holders. What a shame you dropped it, but sounds like you managed to save it from being a total disaster, phew!

ScottishMouse · 27/09/2024 09:59

I went back in and ordered the black jersey vest with the buttons down the back last night. I find sleeveless tops tricky, because boobs, but I felt a lack of them on holidays this year, so hoping it might work to be put away for next year. But that was it. Very restrained.

AmethystMoonShine · 27/09/2024 11:30

I've made a few orders but lots of two of the same in different colours/sizes as it's a short sale.
I ordered the short jumpsuit to try for my holiday and a few of the linen vest tops and the one @ScottishMouse mentioned too. I am so fussy with vest tops - arm hole size, fit across boobs, neck line, bra not showing, length, see-thoroughness....it's endless. High chance they'll go back but in the event they are good, or at least one is, I will be happy.
Also ordered a couple of the jute baskets, one of each colour as I quite liked the mini version we got as a Kindred gift a while back...and they'll be useful for things like sock storage!

RockaLock · 27/09/2024 12:06

I was very restrained and have only ordered the leaf embroidered dress, which was still £££,

I'm actually really near the Toast shop in Lambs Conduit Street this week, but haven't been in yet because I'm only here because my son is in GOSH at the moment. Maybe I'll be able to escape for a bit over this weekend and have a quick browse though.

Good choice - have this and I really like it.

faustina · 27/09/2024 12:41

@AmethystMoonShine - that is a good idea about the baskets. I'd forgotten about the gift one - don't know why as it's staring me in the face every time I go into my kitchen. I might order one to match as well!

@Netcam - I returned a pair of the wax green in 8 yesterday, and have reordered the same again, along with a 6. If the pink ones are a good fit, perhaps you could ask Toast customer services to send you my return? They should have it by Monday

Thanks, I could message them. But a bit worried they might be too big for me reading the reviews. I'm 5'3, 7 stone 10, kind of slim pear shaped with slim waist and bigger boobs/bottom and a bit of a post menopausal belly. I've never worn anything less than an 8 before though.

faustina · 27/09/2024 13:09

I think you'd probably be better off with a 6, depending on how much smaller it is than the 8. My size 6 is arriving tomorrow - it might be worth your while ordering the pink in a 6 if there's one left? We are a very similar size

Thanks, I could, having a lunchbreak now, will have a look. They said I'd have to call when I know your 8 has arrived back in the Warehouse.

RockaLock · 27/09/2024 12:07

How did you find the sizing @RockaLock? I ordered M and L (again, because boobs), so hoping one will work.

IlovePond · 27/09/2024 16:16

I hope your DS is ok @RockaLock

Thanks for the info re: black top - I like the look of it. Does it survive in the wash? Is it tts?

Thanks

RockaLock · 27/09/2024 16:56

@ScottishMouse I think I have a small, and I'm a size 10 in non-toast shops(!)

The S fits well and it's a nice weight of material. As the summer was so awful and we didn't really get away anywhere warmer, I think I've only worn it once, so I can't comment on how it washes I'm afraid.

@IlovePond he's good, thank you - he had a huge operation on Tuesday, so although DH and I took it in turns to go for a wander outside that day, there was no way I was going to go in, because if something had gone wrong I would always have associated Toast (and whatever other shops I had gone in) with that.

But it went really well, he's recovering well, and so I think I could allow myself a browse this weekend Grin (we are likely to be trapped here until Monday or Tuesday).

IlovePond · 27/09/2024 17:05

That’s good to hear @RockaLock x

ScottishMouse · 27/09/2024 17:06

Thanks for the top info @RockaLock and wishing a swift recovery to your son.

RockaLock · 27/09/2024 17:17

Thank you both

OrangeyLemon · 28/09/2024 08:37

Thinking of you @RockaLock and wishing you all well!
I’ve taken a punt on the cross front seed pod print dress. I think it might look like a shapeless night gown but I love the print so much I’m giving it a go.
I’m also trying the kick flares in dark denim. I’m more of a flare than a barrel leg girl but wonder if these will be a bit too exaggerated. Also reviews mention the tight waist which is a concern!
I’d been hoping for a couple of things from the last sale that I missed out on.. I hope they reappear down the line- I’m sure there was plenty of stock. I wonder why Toast do these very short sales. They’re bound to get returns and there’s no chance to wait for something to come back into stock. It also seems a bit late for a ‘fading summer’ sale. It’s wet and freezing here!

IlovePond · 28/09/2024 10:20

Toast very much march to the beat of their own drum @OrangeyLemon 😹You can drive yourself potty looking for logic sometimes. (I am sure it all makes perfect sense to Toast HQ!)

My ‘panic order’ of two pairs of totally unnecessary socks and a pair of linen trousers, (which in my haste, I didn’t realise were dark green 🙀), is apparently arriving today.

My second order, (which I am more excited about/confident I might keep), was ordered ten minutes later, but is still taking the air at Swansea.

Countmeout · 28/09/2024 10:54

Hope things continue to improve for you and your son @RockaLock .

My order of a single item won’t arrive until Tuesday. I feel quite virtuous.
I am looking forward to hearing about all your successes or otherwise.

@RockaLock fingers crossed for a swift recovery for your son. I hope you have the time and headspace to pop into the nearby Toast now and that you find something wonderful there.
