New thread. Woke (blooming cat) to find it’s nearly full.

I have them too, I’m 5’4” and don’t find a problem with the rise. I don’t tuck either, I’m usually wearing a jumper with them. I do size down but not sure of the sizing at the moment. I haven’t bought a pair for 2 years.

Just joining in the Gabi discussion here. I've had my eye on the Gabi wax green cotton trousers for a while. I'm 5'3. I wondered how the length might be on me and what size. I'm 8-10 for trousers, depends on the shop. I have size 8 Brora trousers and size 10 Poetry trousers, for example.

faustina · 23/09/2024 13:53

@Netcam - I've just ordered them myself! Will let you know how they fit when they arrive. I think I ordered the 8

ScottishMouse · 23/09/2024 13:57

I had some cotton Gabis. I am 5’2” and found I needed to turn them up once lengthwise. I never loved the low crotch all that much. I didn’t tuck either, and found that I needed a slightly longer top to cover my belly which always felt quite enhanced in the Gabis. But my biggest problem was also the calves. I have relatively sturdy athletic calves, and the Gabis were always tight on the calves which didn’t look great, but was also not very comfy, and I too had to keep pulling the legs down every time I stood up. I had to conclude that they are not for me, and I sold them on.

Countmeout · 23/09/2024 14:09

Is that the size you normally order @faustina ? Trying to guess how they now fit.

faustina · 23/09/2024 14:17

@Countmeout the last pair I bought were the dark pear cords in a 6 but I think that was old sizing, and I found them much bigger than the pale beige cotton ones in the same size. Honestly, with Toast who really knows what the right size will be! 😃Will report back - they were despatched today so hopefully Wednesday

BettinaInDenmark · 23/09/2024 15:44

I received the green Gabi cords a week ago.
I thought they would be tight on the calves, but they were not. The hanging crotch just enables me to pull up the waist to almost under my bra, which I like - I've got a short body, and actually love high waisted trousers ;)
Regarding size, they were fine in my normal Toast size.
Edited to ad a s to trouser...

Poplinskirt · 23/09/2024 16:16

Despite being long and wide of pelvis ( mentioned on a previous thread Grin) I found the Gabis to be a very odd fit on me.
The legs too slim , particularly the calves but the waist comically big
So they both fell down at the waist and caught on the calves.
I was simultaneously hoiking them up at the waist and down at the calves so I sold them as they drove me mad.

Snowyowl78 · 23/09/2024 16:59

Gabis are perfect for me. My fattest zone is my stomach so works well for me leg wise. They are big though. I am a real life 14 and buy them in a 10 now. I think new ones are the same as I tried on the pink ones in the 10 as well. Not for tucking in though. The dark brown cords work better for a kind of half tuck as they are very dark so the elastic isn’t so obvious.

Hi, has anyone on here been to one of the new format Circle/Exchange events? If so, what was it like?

Thanks

Thanks for all of the feedback about the Gabis. Having read everything, I'm not entirely sure they'd be right for me. I have fairly big boobs, a slim waist and slightly wider hips and generally look better with something tucked in, apart from maybe chunky jumpers. If I bypass my waist, I end up just looking like I've gone straight from boobs to hips without my waist and it's not a great look. I can only really do an untucked top with slim fitting bottoms. But better to know that now. I'm sure they are great for some people.

IlovePond · 23/09/2024 20:26

Wow @TheDeepLemonHelper It all sounds a bit grim and stressful - I am glad you got your stuff back. Thanks very much for the information.

Was this one of the ones from last week? Were there refreshments- as indicated on the info - or did you not get that far?

I couldn’t go to the one I had originally intended to attend, (I did cancel my place on Eventbrite beforehand). Sounds like I didn’t miss much, (unless the one I couldn’t go to was better.)

Thanks again x

Thanks @TheDeepLemonHelper - my DSis was supposed to be going with me - she has far more things to swap- but couldn’t go.

Tbh - the weekday evening slots don’t work for me as I live nowhere near a Toast shop! I don’t know why they didn’t do a variety of times/days.

AmethystMoonShine · 24/09/2024 11:42

Mmmm no sale still. I’d been planning to spend on a few items I’d hoped would be reduced. However I’m now wondering if they’ll wait until winter for their sale?
Sad as I’m going away somewhere hot in a few weeks and had planned to buy a few summery items.
Probably end up spending my funds elsewhere now as my pocket gets itchy 😂
I haven’t looked at Cos in a while… might start there as several of you mention their items…… 👀

IlovePond · 24/09/2024 11:45

I was hopeful about today @AmethystMoonShine , but I suspect if a sale doesn’t happen this week, we might have to wait until Xmas.

I suppose Toast might be planning to have one of their occasional reduction of certain things events instead/as well. I seem to remember something very specific in Oct/Nov a couple of years ago -15% off Fairisle for one weekend only or something equally random 😹

IlovePond · 24/09/2024 11:49

Not Toast, but I am eyeing up a cord jacket in Uniqlo that is very like the one I let get away from me in the Toast sale a couple of years ago.

If no sale is forthcoming on the Toast front, I can sense a visit to Uniqlo in my near future 😹

Stoic123 · 24/09/2024 11:56

Also nipped on to see if sales news.

There have been sales in November before (usually last week) - I bought quite a few bits in 2022 and a linen dress last year.

Edited

Yes I remember the fairisle discount, I got some great socks!

Bored with waiting for the sale now.

Its cold here today so I think I might order the Seaweed Gabi trousers . Dithering between the 10 and the 12, reviews say they come up big, my terracotta gabis from a couple of years ago are a 12, but I've always sized down in the cotton ones.

Gabi Organic Cord Pull On Trousers | Seaweed

Gabi Organic Cord Pull On Trousers | Seaweed

Our Gabi Cord Pull On Trousers are crafted from organic cotton corduroy. They have easy tapered legs and side pockets. Available in Seaweed.

I have given up on the sale happening and spent my money elsewhere this morning on two lovely Harley sweaters. There was nothing I had my eye on in the sale anyway, apart from homeware.
I spent some time in Scandinavia this year, and I feel like their more minimalist style is rubbing off on me. Looking through my list of purchases since Jan, I have bought very little from Toast. I have never been a fan of pattern or too much colour (bar a check or a stripe perhaps), but these days all I seem to want is jeans or dark trousers, a white tee, a cosy sweater in navy/grey/black/off-white, and a pair of trainers. Toast will always have some great neutral pieces that will call to me, but I am tempted by fewer and fewer things lately.

IlovePond · 25/09/2024 16:48

Having also given up on the sale, I went looking at the Uniqlo jackets again today. I know it’s not Toast, but could any of you lovely people give me an idea which colours/material could possibly work with this colour?

The blue is ‘safer’ and quite nice on, but me and the lovely lad in store both agreed that the orangey colour really suited me. However, neither of us had a clue what would ‘go’ with it. (There was a brief mention of the matching orange Uniqlo cords, but just, no…😹)

Thanks

To stay relatively Toastie, this desire for a cord jacket stems from the Toast one in beige that I foolishly sent back one sale and it never came back into stock 😿

faustina · 25/09/2024 17:41

@IlovePond denim, twill, gingham ( or a big black and white check maybe?)
