New thread. Woke (blooming cat) to find it’s nearly full.

It’s turned hot here today, weirdly. I wore my crinkle skirt today at work and took my new shirt/jacket thing with me too. By 11am I was cursing myself. 😹

At least they’ve had an outing, though - I had almost forgotten I had bought the jacket in the last sale, (having ignored it when I saw it much cheaper in the sample sale and regretted it ever since).

Am thinking that the heavy crinkled material olive skirt is far more suited to early spring/autumn than the summer it was aimed at!

AubrieDog · 19/09/2024 14:49

I agree. I was surprised how weighty the double faced crinkle cotton is - for me they are definitely autumn/winter items. I lived in the Drift checked one last winter.

I'm not risking wearing them at present though because the puppy is still teething and I really don't want them snagged so if I do manage to nab an olive one in the sale it may be a very long time before it gets an outing...

IlovePond · 19/09/2024 14:54

It is a nice skirt @AubrieDog What kind of puppy btw?

She's a Pyrenean, a really sweet natured girl. Six months old next week.

IlovePond · 19/09/2024 15:15

She sounds lovely @AubrieDog - we have a rescue husky - our second. He ate my new coat last NYE so do keep an eye on your Toast treasures😹(although I am sure yours is much better behaved!)

Oh gosh, a chewed coat sounds...ummmm...frustrating, to put it mildly 😧Sometimes we learn the hard way with our pets, don't we? A linen pinafore has already been consigned to the bin due to rips from puppy teeth so yes, all Toast items will be safely hidden away!

I love Huskies and Malamutes and I know they are stubborn and independent-minded much like Pyreneans. However I too came back for more of the same breed - Brie is my eighth PMD so clearly I'm a glutton for punishment 😆

🐶 🥰 @AubrieDog

I have been dropping hints about the new Toast orange/black check coat here, but falling on deaf ears😹

Keep hinting, you never know what Yuletide could bring... but just keep the dog away from it!!!

Now I'll have to check out Toast coats as well as dresses... I'm such an amateur 🙄

IlovePond · 19/09/2024 16:20

The orangey/brick coloured black check is lovely @AubrieDog - I am not hugely convinced by the very deep - dart is it? - at the back, but other than that, it lovely!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 19/09/2024 18:31

Was the sale so fleeting I've missed it Confused ?

ScottishMouse · 19/09/2024 19:07

Checking in from holidays. I thought for sure I would have a 7pm sale email
from Toast. Anyone got one?

RockaLock · 19/09/2024 19:19

Nothing here Sad and I keep refreshing their website as well just in case.

IlovePond · 19/09/2024 19:21

Maybe next Thursday? Or a weird weekend end only one tomorrow- they’ve done that before 🙀

faustina · 19/09/2024 19:49

So disappointing! I could really have done with the distraction of a sale. You've let us all down Toast!

AubrieDog · 19/09/2024 20:33

I didn't realise it had a dart on the back; I wonder if the olive one has it too...?

Also I'm slightly bothered by the model having narrow, sloped shoulders because mine are very wide and square so if it has a back dart it could look silly on my build.

Toast, we need a shop in the north west please. Preston, Clitheroe or even Ramsbottom would be very nice... Thank you.

TosstTastic · 20/09/2024 07:28

Is it wrong to influence a teen's University choice with an eye to the Toast retail network? Asking for a friend with the best twill jacket.

IlovePond · 20/09/2024 08:11

😹😹😹@TosstTastic

As someone whose DH keeps wondering why all holiday destinations are currently reached via Shepton Mallet, I would say no!

AFingerofFudge · 20/09/2024 08:55

While we wait for the sale (!) I wondered if anyone else had thoughts on this?
I was just looking at Toast Brooklyn that popped up on instagram and there's a little reel with someone wearing various Toast dresses that have been "renewed" and it occurred to me that none of those dresses are very old, and with the high prices that Toast charge for supposedly quality materials, why are there so many newish items needing to be repaired at all??
I can understand knitwear that's been got by a moth, or a really old well worn jacket, but newish dresses??

Countmeout · 20/09/2024 10:33

Wonder if it’s stained rather than ripped @AFingerofFudge . Splashes of bleach or something.

@TosstTastic excellent forward planning.

@AFingerofFudge

Speaking from my own experience, clothing can be damaged by cat claws, puppy teeth, even catching on a sharp object you walk past.
I had a conversation here with @IlovePond yesterday about our dogs. Her dog destroyed a new coat and my pup has ripped two of my linen dresses, so the need for items to be "renewed" isn't necessarily going to be a quality issue.

IlovePond · 20/09/2024 11:23

That’s so true @AubrieDog - I keep catching pockets and sleeves on door handles!

I forgot to say the other day that someone at the Toast event asked if they had any plans to offer alterations. I can’t remember the response exactly, but I think they might be looking into it.

If places like Uniqlo can offer a trouser shortening service, for example, I am sure Toast could - wouldn’t it be great if they offered it for free!

I do think the repair service is very good - my sister has had a few things repaired by Toast as she is very hard on her clothes. (Anything she ‘borrowed’ from me as a child would be found squirrelled away and ripped 🙀)

The placement and the look of the rest of the fabric , which is fine makes it look like an unfortunate mishap rather than a quality issue @AFingerofFudge
I would cry if I ripped or bleached something and have a wardrobe of oldish items to wear if cooking, cleaning or gardening and a nice linen apron.

IlovePond · 20/09/2024 11:41

@poplinskirt - you’ve reminded me - I have a bleach spot on my coffee linen sundress.

I keep forgetting to take it into Toast to repair. It might look a bit odd, though - as it’s at the side mid thigh length and it’s not that noticeable.

I am guessing that a same colour darn might work, but some embroidery, whilst pretty, would look weird in that position.

AFingerofFudge · 20/09/2024 12:18

@IlovePond @AubrieDog good points that I hadn't considered!! I jumped to a quality issue conclusion Blush

Countmeout · 20/09/2024 13:25

The ink ( navy quite a definite navy) colour has arrived in the wrap shirt. It’s a massive improvement on the cream. Not see through , thankfully not as creased, feels much better. I’m going to experiment with it later but after a quick try on I would say it’s a definite possibility. It’s quite slimming too.
