New thread. Woke (blooming cat) to find it’s nearly full.

@oddandelsewhere Ha, I'd have been the same! Do you remember what you splurged on?

oddandelsewhere · 18/09/2024 09:47

@Stravaig it was 2 dresses, one was the black and white gingham crinkle one which is still current, and I can't for the life of me remember which the other was. I do remember that it was very nice to have both when I tried them on and not have to choose one!

Stravaig · 18/09/2024 09:55

@oddandelsewhere Oh, lovely! The latest brick one is gorgeously autumnal. Being able to circumvent the carefully prioritised list is half the treat :)

@Theteapotsbrokenspout Even I'm shocked by that! Such a monumentally stupid short-sighted thing to do. Once customers start equating Toast with dishonesty, we'll not believe a single claim they make. All that pretty marketing guff for naught.

@oddandelsewhere I always wondered if that draw actually existed, not a single win over decades of reviews. Congratulations to you!

Hello, another lurker surfacing! I find this reviews business very disappointing. I left an absolutely glowing review for the Kaia oatmeal cardigan but it's not been published, I think perhaps because I mentioned the flattering comments when I popped into Jigsaw. I wondered if it was because they didn't like the mention of the rival brand? Anyway, I don't think they should be curating the reviews.

And congratulations too @oddandelsewhere That must have been a happy day!

AubrieDog · 18/09/2024 10:15

Hello 🙂
Yet another long time lurker here, I'm hovering about and waiting for someone to mention a sale! I do like seeing what everyone is choosing but sadly I am poor as a church mouse so I only have three Toast dresses so far. I do have my eye on the Freya crinkle cotton dress and I'm hoping the olive one may be in the next sale, although obviously the lovely brick one is still too new.

IlovePond · 18/09/2024 13:03

I like the brick dress too, but I have no luck washing crinkle material so probably won’t go for it.

@Countmeout - Toast did mention yesterday that they have been very pleased with the quality of the Chinese goods and that finding similar quality elsewhere at the same manufacturing price was a challenge- which I can completely understand. However, for me it’s the ethical issues of buying from China, not the quality that’s the sticking point.

@oddandelsewhere - how lovely!

oddandelsewhere · 18/09/2024 13:20

Another fan of the brick crinkle dress here, I saw it last week when I was having a bit of a try on in Harrogate. The only thing that stopped me was that from a distance it has a slightly brown look and I already have the dark olive crinkle dress which to me looks quite brown. Do I need 2 brownish dresses? A voice in my head is saying maybe.....

Anyway, I bought the navy cotton linen easy sweater and the cotton linen shirt. I probably won't have the gaping at the front problem as I am not, alas, busty. I do have wide bony shoulders though so we'll see. (They haven't arrived yet)

It was very nice to get vouchers for the review, I didn't mention it at the time as someone was upset about another prize.

IlovePond · 18/09/2024 13:52

I keep hoping for a sale, too. I have rechecked my wishlist in readiness, (which is NOT glitching, btw, which may mean no sale 🙀)

Countmeout · 18/09/2024 14:32

I think it may be soon. Things are moving around the website.

@oddandelsewhere thats marvellous. I,too, wondered if it actually exsisted.

I noticed the culottes review had disappeared. Wondered if I had dreamt seeing it.

🤞@Countmeout - I was very restrained yesterday in Toast and would like to get my hands on some sale items from my wish list!

AmethystMoonShine · 18/09/2024 16:25

I can confirm the brick crinkle dress is lovely. I bought it last week and already worn it. It’s washed well too which is good, the assistant said just wash and hang to dry. Which given the label says to iron seemed the more sensible advice!

IlovePond · 18/09/2024 16:27

Did you hand wash @AmethystMoonShine

Thanks

AubrieDog · 18/09/2024 16:35

All three of my Toast dresses are crinkle cotton ones. I machine wash them in Ecover Zero at 30 degrees and hang them out on the line to dry. I never iron anything. To begin with I felt there was a lot of shrinkage with them but, oddly, once they've been on my body for a couple of hours and warmed up, they seem to revert to being the original size.

@AmethystMoonShine could you possibly post a close up pic of the brick dress to let us see the true colour please? One of the reviews hinted that it's quite strong but then it was described as brownish here so it would be interesting to properly see it. Thanks.

Netcam · 18/09/2024 19:16

Lurking here too, just interested as I've never ordered from Toast before, but contemplating!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 18/09/2024 19:43

And suddenly all the reviews are back!

IlovePond · 18/09/2024 20:52

Toast do read this thread sometimes @Theteapotsbrokenspout - perhaps it was just a glitch that they have now fixed 🤞

oddandelsewhere · 19/09/2024 00:18

@Theteapotsbrokenspout How interesting!

AmethystMoonShine · 19/09/2024 08:08

@IlovePond I washed it as @AubrieDog does, Ecover, 30 degrees on a delicate cycle and in a net bag.
Here’s a photo of the dress colour…

AmethystMoonShine · 19/09/2024 08:09

The brick is more red in real life, photos make it look paler. It’s a proper brick red and the black almost looks navy in some light. I guess it’s a blue toned black.

AubrieDog · 19/09/2024 08:15

Thank you @AmethystMoonShine It does look lovely. I'll definitely keep it on my list - it might be a nice Christmas dress. I find the crinkle cottons easy to layer up with linen trousers, boots and a cardi so I wear them all year.

IlovePond · 19/09/2024 13:49

Thanks @AmethystMoonShine - it really is a lovely dress!

On a semi-related note:

Where’s the sale…???

faustina · 19/09/2024 14:03

@IlovePond - we need our super-sleuth to find the secret link! 😁

IlovePond · 19/09/2024 14:06

I’ve been trying various search combos but no luck @faustina !

I am, however, quite amused by the idea that Toast are reading this and chuckling to themselves about our obsession with sale accessing/guessing the date 😹

AFingerofFudge · 19/09/2024 14:17

I have a day off today so have been periodically checking! No luck as yet!

AmethystMoonShine · 19/09/2024 14:31

Glad the dress info is helpful...I've now got my eye on the olive one! It's really easy to wear and much heavier than I expected, definitely an autumn and probably winter item. My first crinkly cotton purchase. I wonder whether there are lighter weight summer dresses as I can't imagine wearing this when it's warm. It goes well with the Falke Striggings Rust socks..which I may have also purchased!
