I think there was one a few months/weeks back but can't find it, so apologies if doubling up.
What perfume are you wearing today?
I will wear Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur in hope it will actually be warm today.

I've just seen a cracking review for it, "I wish I got the apple pie vibes everyone else gets but this just smells like a cinnamon raisin bagel that's a little soggy because you just dunked in some cognac" It did make me giggle, what a way with words! It's definitely nicer than dunked bagel though, maybe a boozy bread and butter pudding? Such a hard fragrance to describe well.

@IDontHateRainbows Are you on the Kayali discovery set? I didn't mind the vanilla, I wasn't keen at first but preferred the dry down. I was wearing this one to bed. I think I'm looking for the perfect vanilla scent and not found it yet. Hoping to try vanilla powder soon as that gets great reviews.

happytobemrsg · 04/12/2024 16:20

DH likes Empressa. He said it reminded him of an Italian restaurant though so no idea what that means. It’s a potential warm weather one for me. Will pop it on the list 😀

@psuedocream3 love that review 😂

Seems like quite a few people on here have discovery sets. I’ve never done that before but it seems a good idea

spikeandbuffy · 04/12/2024 16:21

It's almost a baked apple stuffed with sultanas, wrapped in pastry and then some posh vanilla bean custard on it

All I know is I need a full bottle immediately probably the perfume parlour dupe

MiaN · 04/12/2024 17:46

psuedocream3 · 04/12/2024 16:00

@MiaN it's interesting so many people smell apple pie, I've read alot of people say this but there isn't actually any apple notes in this perfume. Maybe it's the cinnamon and the cognac scent giving those vibes?. Definitely more mincep pie filling/christmas cake/christmas pudding to my nose, but either way, it's very indulgent and a lovely perfume.

I think it's the cinnamon, parline, vanilla. You have to be into gourmand and be little brave with it too. I imagine dark room, fireplace, glass of cognac, apple pie, rocking chair and book when I smell it. I don't really eat mince pies and Christmas pudding, but I would imagine with cinnamon & boozy notes it can go in that direction

@happytobemrsg
it's not safe blind buy, you need to smell it. If you want cheap alternative made from same perfumer check Sand Dessert at Sunset in Zara - it's very similar scent profile. The cognac note isn't as prominent and it lacks some of the nuances that killian's perfume has. Like you would expect for the price.

MiaN · 04/12/2024 17:56

That's the thing with it, do you want to smell like something that can be eaten? If someone passes by and say hm, it smells like Christmas Pudding or Apple Pie - how will you feel about it? Would you take it as compliment? Or will it be little strange to you?

Lira is my most gourmand perfume, but I find as the citrus is prominent it isn't as straight forward eatable scent. But I still mostly wear it when I am not going to work or in December when I feel everything goes. I have Ginger Biscuit but that smells little more as spicy fanilla to my nose vs actually sweet cookie.

Angel's Share is cool scent, worth a try but you need to be little brave to wear it and you need to be ok with realistic gourmand & boozy scent. It's not for everyone.

MiaN · 04/12/2024 19:00

@happytobemrsg
Empressa is supposed to be very like Chanel Coco Mademoiselle.

MiaN · 04/12/2024 19:28

By the way, fragrantica 2024 best perfume awards are on and voting is open if you wish to have a nosy. Angel's share is one of the top currently in several cathegories

hughiedoesntfight · 04/12/2024 19:56

My liberty scent kit has arrived. And my Fugazzi Angel dust.

I daren’t try any tonight. I don’t want to go to be sick again. I will wait will my test strips arrive tomorrow.

If anyone has had the kit, do you have a recommendation on which to try first?

hughiedoesntfight · 04/12/2024 20:00

On the subject of gourmands, I love being told I smell like food. Well, depends on the food in question. But really only this time of year.

I wore blu indaco today and that smells like a frangipani pastry with vanilla cream. I got a good few compliments. 2 mentioning smelling like a sweet pastry. Definitely a cold weather scent though. I can also still smell it on my wrists (faintly) and I sprayed it at 6.30am.

It’s not a heavy gourmand though. I wanted something a bit lighter, since I had the headache last night.

spikeandbuffy · 04/12/2024 20:07

Showered and in freshly laundered

This was my absolute bargain, I paid £8 Blush

happytobemrsg · 04/12/2024 21:24

@MiaN Ive only just learnt what gourmand means, I’m quite new to this 🤦🏻‍♀️. Like @hughiedoesntfight said, I think I’d feel ok “smelling like something” in December but not necessarily the rest of the time. Something to think about. I’m also a little scared of the idea of smelling like alcohol ie cognac.

Possibly a stupid question, but what I loved about Halfeti was that throughout the day I’d be walking about & get lots of whiffs of my perfume. What is this called? Projection? I don’t want to just smell it when I smell my wrist…

MiaN · 04/12/2024 21:36

Sillage pronounced seeyaj - a scented trail left by the fragrance wearer.
Projection how far away from you people can smell you

MiaN · 04/12/2024 21:47

Halfeti has oud, rose, leather so maybe look at other options that have those notes. Ex Nihilo the Hedonist maybe. .Those two are very smooth, well blended ouds. I also felt that Rendez-Vous Chez Harrods Montale is nice vanilla/oud/leather. I do not like oud myself, but those three I like on others.

My son is oud fan and he has a lot, his favorite being Maison Crivelli Oud Maracuja which I find toxic. He also like MFK Oud Satin Mood and Xerjoff Allexandria 2.

QueefofSheena · 04/12/2024 21:48

Tonight I’m wearing Le Labo Rose 31. It’s a roller that I think was in the Liberty AC last year. I took the ball out as it wasn’t really flowing, even without the ball it’s not coming out much. I’m not as keen on this rose. It could be the oil formula though as I’m sure it changes the scent slightly.

happytobemrsg · 04/12/2024 21:49

Thanks so much @MiaN ! I will check those out

MiaN · 04/12/2024 22:04

I feel Chanel Coromandel (Les Exclusifs) is well worth a try, it's so nice. Maybe you should try a more complex rose, if you are already set with oud perfume? Go to few counters such as Frederick Malle, try few and see if anything appeals - really bold tuberouse like Carnal Flower. Silky Woods Goldfield & Banks maybe? Vicoria Beckham - try the range, they are all very strong. Intio Oud for greatness. Mancera Roses Vanille. Spicy winter vanilla like penhaligon's babylon, ysl babycat (I can't handle this one), the merchant of venice queen of the night or little lighter BDK vanille leather.

Tobacco and honey is interesting combination, too strong for me but I enjoy sniffing them on others. Guerlain Tabacco Honey, Xerjoff Naxos or Perfumes de Marley Harrod (I don't think honey is listed, but it has that sweet smokey vibe).

Although you have chosen oud, it's so smooth that it's hard to guess if more typical oud perfumes will appeal or not.

Is it the kit with Hera Reigns? Try that!

IDontHateRainbows · 04/12/2024 22:53

Bedtime scent is Gris Charnel. Enjoying this one, it must be in the middle of the venn diagram that is mine and @MiaN 's tastes.

I felt the same about boozy notes. But generally find it doesn’t smell like alcohol on the skin. I do like a boozy note. but then when I have bought them, I tend not to reach for them. My friend has a candle company and she is currently trying to recreate angels shares in a candle for me.

I have a couple of perfumes that I think I should have got the candle. I love the smell. But don’t reach for it. Jazz club and by the fireplace are 2 that come to mind.

Actually might wear by the fireplace today. I am at the hairdressers then working from home in the afternoon.

@IDontHateRainbows yes that’s the one! Thank you! Will try that first when my tests strips come. I have been well and truly frightened off applying anything straight to the skin. 😂

MiaN · 05/12/2024 07:25

@IDontHateRainbows
We share Mojave Ghost too! There are few matches.

It only comes to show that if someone likes 5 perfumes, and you like 2 of them it's no indication that you will like the other 3. The reason I stopped believing youtube reviewers - one of few in fairness.

Sunflower Pop today Floral Street. Very much fizzy fanta fizzy, orangey and sweet to my nose. Fine for winter citrus and I will enjoy my 10ml but probably won't repurchase.

I have the sunflower pop sample, may give it a try.
I tend to prefer citruses in the summer but who knows!
I also have London poppy from that range which is citrussy. Wasn't a massive fan myself so gave it to my daughter who loves it.

IDontHateRainbows · 05/12/2024 07:30

I'm sometimes surprised at what i like that doesn't match other things I like, but it's good to be eclectic. Mojave ghost and Mumbau noise for example are poles apart, but I love them both.

Yes, I've got the discovery set and the vanilla obsessions box - wanted to try the scents in the vanilla obsessions box with a view to selling any I wasn't keen on.

The vanilla 28 does have a lovely dry down. I'm not a fan of sickly sweet scents but this has a bit of depth and warmth to it.

I did go through a phase where I loved the pistachio yum scent, but it doesn't last long and smells quite cloying to me now. OK once in a while but not one I'd RP

AprilLady · 05/12/2024 08:11

SOTD is Chanel Beige. Suitable for an all day, in person meeting today.

Stowickthevast · 05/12/2024 08:17

I've just got the Serge Lutens Discovery set so am trying Feminite du Bois today. So far so good.

Editing to say thanks for flagging it when it was on offer @AprilLady
