to be surprised at the endurance of leopard print

I do have a couple of leopard print things.

But leopard print mainly makes me think of shadowy memories of once seeing Cynthia Payne in it on the news.

Anyone else?

I loves it, don't you know it's a neutral?

Alainlechat · 12/06/2024 15:12

It always surprises me, I was put off by Bet Lynch wearing it in Coronation Street!

Ilovegoldies · 12/06/2024 15:13

I really dislike it. I'm surprised that anyone does but we are all different.

cheezncrackers · 12/06/2024 15:14

I think some people can carry it off, but I look like a barmaid from the Queen Vic. Blonde, busty, middle-aged and leopard print ain't a good combo 😆

GoodieMcTwoshoes · 12/06/2024 15:14

@longestday00 Normal leopard print has prozzie vibes. I suppose how neutral it is would depend on how yellowy it is. I've never thought of it that way.

I do quite like the look of red leopard print tho.

‘Prozzie vibes’?

EmmaGrundyForPM · 12/06/2024 15:15

I used to dislike it but it's grown on me. However, the few pieces I have tend to be in different colour ways not the traditional colour

TarantinoIsAMisogynist · 12/06/2024 15:16

I hate all animal prints tbh. Always have.

It always faintly surprises me to remember that other people like them and wear them, but hey ho, we're all different.

Berlinlover · 12/06/2024 15:16

I can’t understand parents who dress their daughters in leopard print clothing. It’s bad enough on an adult but it looks awful on a child.

GatherlyGal · 12/06/2024 15:17

At the risk of being accused of ageism I think it's a lot easier to pull off if one is quite young.

Not that young though @Berlinlover 😂

MoonStarsAndRainbows · 12/06/2024 15:19

It’s really, really tacky. Can’t understand why it remains popular!

LaMarschallin · 12/06/2024 15:19

Same here although I've only really got a skirt in it.
I wouldn't wear it as fur (fake, obviously) as I think that looks very old-fashioned/Bet Lynch-y, but I think a lot of fur can look like that.
A young-looking, pretty friend still gives off Queen Mother vibes, imo, when she wears a white fur jacket she has.

GoodieMcTwoshoes · 12/06/2024 15:23

I did have a leopardskin 'fur' coat I used to like because I think it was a bit old era Courtney Love. She will endure forever in my mind.

I came here to say this!
I love it and I don't care if anyone thinks I'm too old/blonde/big boobed to wear it, it's bloody fabulous and goes with almost everything in my opinion.

OolongTeaDrinker · 12/06/2024 15:31

I’ve noticed amongst some friends that they suddenly started wearing animal prints after having children, having not worn them before then. I’ve often wondered why.

ZazieBeth · 12/06/2024 15:36

Much less tacky than misogyny, as looks go.

Ginkypig · 12/06/2024 15:39

This!

my sister was very upset with me when she showed me her (fake) fur leopard print coat. She asked me if I wanted to try it on as she thought it would suit me and I could get myself one. I replied oh no thanks I don’t wear leopard print as it always reminds me of Bet Lynch I didn’t mean it as an insult to her coat but she was NOT happy with me! 😳

the point is I don’t live it but I have no judgment for people who do.

I have seen a couple of things that were dark on dark so the pattern was very muted which I liked much better.

BebbanburgIsMine · 12/06/2024 15:43

I hate all animal print stuff, no matter the colour or the thing it's on. I always have.

I think it looks cheap and tacky, really horrible.

Cornishpasty342 · 12/06/2024 15:44

I absolutely love leopard print! I would also consider it a neutral. It’s always stylish in my opinion and I’ve been called tacky for wearing it once before but truth be told I wouldn’t be seen dead in what she was wearing either so I wasn’t offending - different tastes are valid!

Ginkypig · 12/06/2024 15:44

now that I’m thinking about due to this thread I don’t really wear any animal print.or too flowery etc so I obviously have a particular thing for not liking too much pattern or too busy

id wear strips or spots though

Pollipops1 · 12/06/2024 15:57

Cynthia Payne won’t be a name most of the under 45s have heard of. I love animal prints as long as the print in itself is nice, think it’s much easier to wear than stripes & not as twee as florals.

Pollipops1 · 12/06/2024 15:58

Prozzie vibes’?

Prozzie Vibes?
Not at the connotation, but the wording... 🤨
