to be surprised at the endurance of leopard print

I do have a couple of leopard print things.

But leopard print mainly makes me think of shadowy memories of once seeing Cynthia Payne in it on the news.

Anyone else?

I've never liked or worn leopard print anything. But I have just bought a M&S midi summer dress from a charity shop which is green and is leopard print and I love it! Can't wait to get some actual summer to wear it🙄

Its this one! https://onlineshop.oxfam.org.uk/m-s-marks-spencer-v-neck-dress-nwot-green-animal-size-8/product/HD_301874089?pscid=ps_ggl_OOS+-+Performance+Max+-+ROAS+(Women%27s+clothing+%26+accessories)_&crm_event_code=20REUWWS08&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsaqzBhDdARIsAK2gqndnrhfwQkGsSh4zZWtZxR4dF_uwSKBfUr5LxicvLIcpcibEZQd4Hf8aAnx_EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&sku=HD_301874089

I'm 50 and I quite like it, I've got a couple of scarves, some ballet flats and a lovely knee length cotton wrap dress that I've had for years. As a PP said, I also only wear one LP item at a time

Blingismything · 13/06/2024 17:09

I have a cashmere leopard print cardigan, I think it's lovely.

banivani · 13/06/2024 17:19

I thought prozzie meant Protestant and was confused, was not aware of that angle of sectarian thinking.

I highly dislike animal prints too so I’m in that camp. Don’t care if other people wear it but never find it attractive. (Except for those two times I’ve been oddly drawn to leopard print dresses in other colours than leopard but I realised it was mostly the shape drawing me in. Will succumb to the label of hypocrite should it be hung around my neck.)

😂
I now want to invent a Prozzie tray bake.

@GoodieMcTwoshoes

What does "mah SJW pearls" mean?
Genuinely curious - Googling didn't help.
I assume it's to do with pearl-clutching and am guessing "mah" might be "my" in a Scottish accent (given your user name)? But SJW?

bagsofbats · 14/06/2024 09:29

Am I at the very pinnacle of style & fashion?

I had assumed not as;
1 - they are crocs
2 - they are leopard print
3 - they were in the sale so no one else was buying them.

They are very comfy though and only worn in the confines of my home for reasons 1 & 2.

Frasers · 14/06/2024 09:34

I don’t consider it a neutral either, I guess due to the busy pattern, irrelevant though, I dislike it also. It reminds me of bet lynch too.

SquashPenguin · 14/06/2024 09:39

Leopard print is disgusting, always has been always will be. It screams cheap and tacky.

GettingStuffed · 14/06/2024 09:41

I love it. I only own two items, a blue leopard print dress and a muted winter dress. I've just put a dress out for charity as it no longer fits.

AliceCallous · 14/06/2024 09:44

I love animal print, personally. I'd gladly wear it top to toe.

borntobequiet · 14/06/2024 09:45

I used to have a Boden velvet leopard print blazer, which I I bought second hand, wore for a few years and then stupidly gave away. I miss it.

OMG they still do one like it!

LunaNorth · 14/06/2024 09:48

I’ll wear it now my hair is dark, but I’m old enough to remember Pat Butcher and Bet Lynch, so I was scared to when I was blonde.

LunaNorth · 14/06/2024 09:49

I’ve got LP Air Force Ones, now.

Grin
duchessofsilk · 14/06/2024 09:50

No way, I love leopard print when it's done subtly, eg a scarf or a statement piece.

Bet Lynch had an entire look, so unless you are going to wear blue eye shadow, massive earrings, a fake fur coat and smoke a cig with a cigarette holder you wont look like her 😂

Cocolapew · 14/06/2024 09:51

I love it, especially since I've gone grey for some reason.

alrightluv · 14/06/2024 09:52

I like some leopard print. So does 90 year old Mil.

Nicebloomers · 14/06/2024 09:53

There’s nothing more cheap and tacky than women judging women for wearing a particular print on fabric.

What next? Women who wear red dresses or red lipstick are also ‘prozzies’. Having blonde hair means you’re thick?

How about, you wear what you want and other people do the same?

Im surprised at the endurance of internalised misogyny but here we are being called sex workers over a pattern on clothing.

My green leopard print PJs were not giving off hooker vibes last night I can assure anyone concerned about my morals.

swayingpalmtree · 14/06/2024 10:05

"prozzie vibes" lmao I've heard it all now!

It's ok OP- stick to your tweed skirt (below the knee of course), pearls, tan tights, and sensible shoes. Wouldnt want anyone assuming you are a lady of the night now would we? 😂

Cattery · 14/06/2024 10:10

I love it but it always screams pools winner (for those of us old enough to remember the football pools) 🤣

Clingfilm · 14/06/2024 10:26

I love it, prob cos it's brown.
Not keen on zebra or snake or crocodile print at all though.

Clingfilm · 14/06/2024 10:28

@cattery pools winner 😂 yes! love it

sunshine237 · 14/06/2024 12:18

'What next? Women who wear red dresses or red lipstick are also ‘prozzies’. Having blonde hair means you’re thick?'

I'll tell you what next, judging small children (and their mothers) who dare to wear a bit of animal print, apparently! Confused

therealcookiemonster · 14/06/2024 12:36

imo the only leopard print that's OK is leopard fur from a leopard that the wearer defeated in hand to hand combat.

Lavenderandbrown · 14/06/2024 12:46

@longtompot love your dress. I love green and leopard @LaMarschallin SJW is social
justice warrior. Urban dictionary is a good source for abbreviations.
i love cheetah. If worn singularly with fabulous fabric it’s very sophisticated. And I love it in home decor. Especially carpet. Home decor goes back 50 yrs using leopard on carpets throws pillows and upholstered items. Very Billy Baldwin

Ugov · 14/06/2024 12:48

I've never been able to wear it, or any animal print, even the ones in wacky colours.

I can't quite articulate why, but it seems to lack class, which isn't something I generally concern myself about, but does mean I avoid animal prints.
