to be surprised at the endurance of leopard print

I do have a couple of leopard print things.

But leopard print mainly makes me think of shadowy memories of once seeing Cynthia Payne in it on the news.

Anyone else?

I’ve not heard the word Prozzie for about 25 yrs!

GinBlossom94 · 12/06/2024 16:02

I quite like it, but went to a meeting at DSs school a couple a couple weeks back and it's very "middle aged mum" uniform and it really put me off

Peridot1 · 12/06/2024 16:10

I love it. Always have done. And I’m 60 now. (No idea how THAT happened.)

I only wear one leopard print item at a time. So a scarf OR a bag OR shoes. Bought a lovely leopard print skirt recently.

My mum loved Bet Lynch. And had a leopard print fake fur jacket. She wasn’t as hard looking as Bet Lynch though! Much more glamorous.

FlamingoFlamboyance · 12/06/2024 16:11

I don't like it when it's in the traditional colour as I think it can easily look tacky (pat butcher memories!!) but I love a different colour one

Pollipops1 · 12/06/2024 16:32

It’s pretty ubiquitous now though

BuggeryBumFlaps · 12/06/2024 16:33

I'm old enough to relate it to the likes of Bt Lynch from Corrie which has always put me off wearing it

Nitgel · 12/06/2024 16:39

love it on shoes. i wonder when the bet lynch reference will end as everyone uses it :D

BoostBar · 12/06/2024 16:43

I like it in small doses. I have some leopard print shoes I chuck on if I’m wearing all black to liven up the outfit a bit and it works.

I agree it’s a classic ‘neutral’ these days.

Porageeater · 12/06/2024 16:55

I like it in moderation. But some people can full on rock it, Bet Lynch included.

TheLongRider · 12/06/2024 17:06

Bet Lynch last appeared on Corrie in 2003! That's a very old-fashioned way of thinking about leopard print.

UsernameRedacted · 12/06/2024 17:14

I love it, love snakeskin print too

henlake7 · 12/06/2024 17:27

Im on the side of leopard print, I think it is very much a Marmite print though and can look dated if done the wrong way (Like in a mini skirt or busty top which would give barmaid vibes to me and look ageing).
Same with jackets...alot of faux fur leopard print looks very dated but something like a fitted leopard print blazer would be kinda cool IMO.

I dont have a lot just a scarf, tennis shoes and maxi skirt and I wear them with pride.....just not altogether!!LOL

QOFE · 12/06/2024 17:30

Oh god I love leopard print. Especially teamed with a bit of 3 stripe Adidas 😍

But I think I'm probably persona non grata in the MN style stakes 🤣

Whiskeyandkittens · 12/06/2024 17:31

I've always loved leopard print! Although a few years ago I got a red leopard print blouse, then I saw Kat Slater wearing the exact same one in Eastenders and ever since I haven't quite been able to bring myself to wear mine...

QOFE · 12/06/2024 17:31

My DD did point out to me the other day that I was in danger of leaving the house in triple animal print though, and I did go and change.

RomanRoysSearchHistory · 12/06/2024 17:33

I wear the odd bit in an ironic way and dgaf what vibes I give off at 46. Love my leopard Converse.

Treesaleaving · 12/06/2024 17:34

I am a fan of the Manic Street Preachers. Leopard coats come with the job. I hate jt when summer comes and I have to put them away.

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 12/06/2024 17:34

I know it’s iconic but I hate leopard print with a passion as well I hate chevron.
I’d not buy a pair of socks with that shit on it.

ZazieBeth · 12/06/2024 15:36

Much less tacky than misogyny, as looks go.

👏 👏 👏

Ginkypig · 12/06/2024 15:44

now that I’m thinking about due to this thread I don’t really wear any animal print.or too flowery etc so I obviously have a particular thing for not liking too much pattern or too busy

id wear strips or spots though

Same, I'm not a fan of busy floral patterns either. I don't mind geometric or other shapes but, flowers/animal prints are just not my thing.

SBGHJ · 12/06/2024 18:36

I used to hate it. But actually I have a LP dress now that I wear to work with a black blazer and I really like it.

And I get more compliments in it than in most other outfits.

to be surprised at the endurance of leopard print
Ginkypig · 12/06/2024 19:17

@TarantinoIsAMisogynist your my kind of people obviously.

@SBGHJ i love the shape of that dress! I bet it looks lovely on. but I’d never wear it because of the print.

TheMithrasDirective · 12/06/2024 20:10

Berlinlover · 12/06/2024 15:16

I can’t understand parents who dress their daughters in leopard print clothing. It’s bad enough on an adult but it looks awful on a child.

You've reminded me of the faux fur leopard print jacket my DD got for Christmas from her auntie one year when she was about 6. I hated it at first sight, but DD LOVED it - and I had to admit she looked really cute in it. I cam around a bit after that.

cheezncrackers · 12/06/2024 15:14

I think some people can carry it off, but I look like a barmaid from the Queen Vic. Blonde, busty, middle-aged and leopard print ain't a good combo 😆

😂

gleefulstar · 12/06/2024 20:57

A lady lives near me in a really beautiful old stone cottage, and she's had leopard print carpet fitted in the hall and up the stairs.

I must have lived a sheltered life, it really shocked me 🤣
