to be surprised at the endurance of leopard print

I do have a couple of leopard print things.

But leopard print mainly makes me think of shadowy memories of once seeing Cynthia Payne in it on the news.

Anyone else?

Ah, thanks!
Yes, I've used Urban Dictionary occasionally, but didn't think about it when Google didn't come up with the goods this time.
I couldn't get past Sarah Jessica Parker...

MistyGreenAndBlue · 14/06/2024 13:02

Forget Bet Lynch. Leopard print always makes me think of Rod Stewart. 😂

And it's just so ugly! I don't know if I think it's "common" as such, I just think it's very unattractive.

QuizzlyBears · 14/06/2024 13:03

OP, are you coming back to explain your ‘prozzie vibes’ choice of words?

I have a sharp dark bob and love leopard print - I do think I’d be more careful of it if I was blonde. I like it subtly - I have leopard air force 1s, scarves, a blazer with a leopard lining, that sort of thing.

MotherWol · 14/06/2024 13:03

8yo DD is often head to toe in leopard print, I didn't realise it'd shock so many MNetters! Big cats are her favourite animals and leopard print has kind of become her aesthetic, often with lots of bright colours - it makes her happy, so who am I to judge if she's not a tasteful beige child?

I prefer neutrals and don't generally wear prints, but tbh this thread is making me want to hunt down a leopard coat on Vinted and channel Gwyneth Paltrow in Talented Mr Ripley. Also 😬at the misogyny on display here.

MagicalHat · 14/06/2024 13:04

I love abit of leopard print.

Agree it’s a neutral & easy to wear.

I have some wide leg leopard print jeans, worn with a white tee and Birkenstocks. It’s a pretty solid outfit.

It doesn’t bother me in the slightest if others find it tacky/vile etc, it actually makes me want more leopard print 🤣

longtompot · 14/06/2024 13:32

I thought 'prozzie vibes' was prostitute vibes, but I could be wrong🤷‍♀️

autumn1610 · 14/06/2024 15:02

I love it. Have quite a variety of things, I see it as a neutral. It makes a change to my normal black or neutral toned wardrobe. Currently sat with leopard print nails, phone case and scrunchie in 🤣 it’s definitely marmite but I love that too

Astrabees · 14/06/2024 15:10

I can’t understand how Scamp and Dude have made a whole business out of leopard reprint, all the dresses look just the same and very cheap.

Exactly.

"prozzie vibes" lmao I've heard it all now!

It's ok OP- stick to your tweed skirt (below the knee of course), pearls, tan tights, and sensible shoes. Wouldnt want anyone assuming you are a lady of the night now would we? 😂

🤣🤣🤣 well said

PermanentIyExhaustedPigeon · 14/06/2024 19:07

There's a mum in our village who is almost always in animal print for the school run, she turns up in things like a purple zebra skirt with a galaxy print hoodie or hot pink leopard leggings with denim shorts over. I wish I was braver because she always looks great! I don't think she's a woman of the night though, in fact I'm fairly sure she makes clothes for a job 🤣

Goddessonahighway · 15/06/2024 07:04

I'm in for prints. Have always liked leopard print but prefer it in 'normal' colours. Can't stand snake print though. Scared of snakes so not necessarily a style choice.

I'm a middle aged mum so glad I'm fitting in with my peers 😆

I know it’s iconic but I hate leopard print with a passion as well I hate chevron.
I’d not buy a pair of socks with that shit on it.

It's not iconic. People are iconic. When they've achieved excellence. Not a pattern.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/06/2024 10:49

I love leopard print - it's really having a moment again right now if you look at TikTok. (Where people are definitely not saying shit like "prozzie vibes" about the way other women dress - wtf?)

It's been "having a moment again" for at least the last decade!

D20 · 15/06/2024 08:59

I like it. Whilst not a neutral it is so versatile. Lots of people wear it in different ways and for same for casual or just a nod to it. I prefer the less vibrant/yellow print because it doesn’t suit my colouring very well. I do have some fabulous hairy high heels in a proper leopard print though but not so many opportunities wear them.

I’m also partial to a bit of snake or zebra. Can’t get on board with cow or giraffe print sorry.

MadameMassiveSalad · 15/06/2024 07:49

It’s not been a mainstay for the previous decade. The odd touch sure but it is definitely having a revival lately with jeans and tie front blouses in particular.

I’ve got some snake skin print jeans (I’m 70). I love them, though I understand your aversion.

I'd be fine with you wearing them around me. But just don't ask me to touch them! 😆

borntobequiet · 15/06/2024 09:28

👍

Pigtailsandall · 15/06/2024 09:28

I just remembered that used to have really amazing snakeskin print biker boots from All Saints in my 20s. I loved them. They made me feel so cool. Now I'm in boring trainers all the time. Maybe I SHOULD liven my wardrobe up a bit.

BlackFriYay · 15/06/2024 10:02

SquashPenguin · 14/06/2024 09:39

Leopard print is disgusting, always has been always will be. It screams cheap and tacky.

That's a very strong reaction. Are you OK?

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 15/06/2024 10:18

@MadameMassiveSalad iconic the same way Airstreams and Eames chairs are iconic.

A lady lives near me in a really beautiful old stone cottage, and she's had leopard print carpet fitted in the hall and up the stairs.

I must have lived a sheltered life, it really shocked me 🤣

I have leopard print carpet on my stairs!
I love it!
Didn't buy it for other people so who cares 😃

gleefulstar · 15/06/2024 10:38

@countvoncount

You're absolutely right of course! Sorry for sounding judgy.

I'm glad you love it 😊
