I'm not happy with how she did my nails

I go to a lovely place for my nails for years and this time I went to another girl. She was very lovely and took her time but I feel my nails look like I could have done it myself. I paid 61 pounds including nail art and am happy to pay this as the nail art is normally really good. I get them done once a month

I'll post a picture of what I wanted versus what I got. Maybe I'm being unreasonable or just need to get used to them

I think a lot of the problem is you've got different nail shape / sizes

Poggishairtufts · 06/06/2024 14:51

I'm with you, the orange looks really chunky and like she's glued Smarties on your nail. Can you go back?

beefmassaman · 06/06/2024 14:51

Yikes. I wouldn't be happy either.

MaliceInWanderland · 06/06/2024 14:52

I agree - they look decidedly amateurish (although I will say your nails , acrylics or otherwise , need to be a touch longer to carry that style off

It's up to you whether you complain and ask for them to be redone - I probably would, nicely!) or just know better for next time

Whatsyourstory · 06/06/2024 14:52

Hmm they aren't great, they look far too bulky. I'd go back and ask for them to be redone x

easylifewanted · 06/06/2024 14:52

That is not £61 of nail art I’m sorry. They look fine but not as sharp as the pic you took and nowhere near that amount.

I pay £30 for mine and for that would accept them looking like yours but I don’t think they would, I still think they’d be done better than that.

This. Your nails are a lot shorter than the models

Hugosmaid · 06/06/2024 14:52

Maaaaaaaaaaaate 🙈😂😂😂😂😂😂

Go back!

Led921900 · 06/06/2024 14:52

I think she’s done the style as best she can but it doesn’t suit your nails. It looks much more rounded (not sure if that’s the nature of the polish itself).
If you have a different style you like I’d go back and ask they’re redone?!

Bellyfullofbiscuits · 06/06/2024 14:53

Are they your actual nails? I wouldn't be happy. It looks like she forgot to paint the white on the thumb too

easylifewanted · 06/06/2024 14:53

As a professional the nail artist should be able to adapt the pic to the size and shape of your nails and she hasn’t the proportions are all wrong

ChimneySweepLiverpool · 06/06/2024 14:54

I have been going there for five years and it's a lovely place. They cost more than the average place, it was 56 pounds the previous months but they put their prices up (I didn't know until I paid)

It's fine if my nails are simply too short but I wish she explained that

That does look pretty awful. It’s your nail shape I think, they’re too short and round for the style.

Summeratlast24 · 06/06/2024 14:56

I think they look fine. It’s just that you have shorter and rounder nails.

ChimneySweepLiverpool · 06/06/2024 14:56

Should she have adapted that to suit the nails or told me it wouldn't work?.

Or should I have known? I'm going to a wedding this weekend

I agree. I think the black line is too low down and crosses the nail at too narrow a point, which makes the orange look wider than it should be. I think that’s what is making it look odd.

Theredoubtableskins · 06/06/2024 14:58

Your nails are shorted and wider set than the models. Some people have very fine fingers and therefore thin nails, some people have wider fingers and therefore wider nails. That design is just a poor choice for short, wide nails. She could have put less orange on and left more nail showing which would have looked better but it’s really just a poor design choice. Your nails don’t suit a block colour that way.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/06/2024 14:59

Your nails aren’t long enough

Mine look like that if I have ombré done as not long enough

And £61

Wow

Average is around £30/35 tops for nail art

Yes this. You need to choose a different style. But she hasn’t even done it well, the orange is too big and looks lumpy, the line in the wrong place and wonky in some places. So bad job and bad style choice.

ChimneySweepLiverpool · 06/06/2024 15:01

Is it reasonable to email them the photo and ask for something different? Even just nude would be fine

Can you tell I HATE confrontation? 😯

loropianalover · 06/06/2024 15:03

Honestly I think it looks bad because your nails are wider and a different shape than the inspo. Yours are very rounded at the top, are they always that shape? The work itself is just okay, the black lines are a bit too thick and a little bit wavy on the thumb. I think even if her work was perfect this style just wouldn’t suit the wider nail that you have.

Personally I’d chalk this up to a bad set/choice & move on, but I would definitely get them re done before going to a wedding 🙈

OneThreadOnly · 06/06/2024 15:03

They don’t look great, to be fair I would probably live with them until my next appointment but if you have a wedding this week I can see why you would want to change them.

LordSnot · 06/06/2024 15:03

I wasn't sure which one you were because the dark skinned lady's nails are really badly done, streaky and uneven.

I'm not sure it's the nail artist's responsibility to say yours won't look exactly like the model's because your nails are a different shape. But she should be competent enough not to put the orange on that thick.

Theredoubtableskins · 06/06/2024 15:05

Although, that ring finger does look like it has an especially thick dollop along the bottom. It’s just very badly done. It wouldn’t have looked good whatever way it was done but she has done a bad job. You could probably go back to them about that because it’s not been done very well.

Theredoubtableskins · 06/06/2024 15:06

I’m curious about the outfit you’ve picked out for this wedding though, if you went with orange nails. What are you wearing?
