I'm not happy with how she did my nails

I go to a lovely place for my nails for years and this time I went to another girl. She was very lovely and took her time but I feel my nails look like I could have done it myself. I paid 61 pounds including nail art and am happy to pay this as the nail art is normally really good. I get them done once a month

I'll post a picture of what I wanted versus what I got. Maybe I'm being unreasonable or just need to get used to them

Can you show us a picture of your nails from a previous visit? It's hard to tell how much is poor application and how much is your nail shape?

Look pretty much the same to me (apart from the previously mentioned nail shape)

Agree with others that it's your nail shape that's the problem and making them odd

Your nails are an entirely different shape so the proportions are off, and yes i hate that really thick polish look.

I think a big issue is your finger shape and nail length, the extra few mm make a big difference to the design. I have almond shape but not too long and I've had designs I like on a model with longer nails that don't look as good if mine are shortish

Actually, she should have said I don't think this will work as well with your nails and suggested an alternative that was in a similar vibe

I think the orange being only on part of the nail makes your nails look a lot stubbier - they look way better in the pic you just posted. The orange is not a flattering style!

The ratio is just completely off of the orange to the black, it would've been better if they had been like French tips in the orange colour

They are pretty awful. The technician should have explained that that style would never work on your nails.

Although I do think this could have resolved so much easier if it had been sorted at the time. Why did you not explain you were not happy with them when she was doing them, or before you paid.

@username47985 the appointment ran very long and an older lady was waiting behind me so I felt I should just leave. How very British!

Your nails are too wide and short to carry that style off (mine would be as well) your nail tech should have explained that to you or at least did one nail for you to look at first.

Oh I went to one in Bank and ended up leaving in tears. To be fair it was two weeks before my due date and so massively hormonal, but she really messed up the shape of my nails when I had grown them out for months. You expect good service in one of those places but really, they’re not actually that special.

The issue with your nails is that they’re too wide. The length, I’m assuming she filed down and if so, she shouldn’t have made them so short so that is on her.

You have small short flat nails so any design halving the colour will look weird

I don't have that long nails but usually stick to one colour or French with thin white tip which make them look longer

The style and orange colour make your nails appear even shorter and wider than they are. Sorry, its not a flattering style for your current nail shape IMO.
Partly the application looks thick, but why didn't you say anything when you saw the 1st finger being done?

Surely this is similar to going to the hairdressers in that if you ask for a style that they think wont suit your face shape or hair texture etc they tell you and suggest something similar but more suitable? She also has the proportions off I think - too much orange and the black line is too low down so the rounded effect is more pronounced.

I would email and see if they will do something for you on that basis

Really ugly design to begin with, look like duck beaks. Go back and get them redone.

The line of black needs to be farther up your nails, and the peach not as thick. It looks like lino stuck on top.

I emailed them photos about 90 minutes ago so I'm waiting to hear back. They're usually very fast to reply about appointments

I simply asked for the colour to be removed and a nude colour instead

I have to leave for the wedding straight from work tomorrow afternoon. Salon is open until nine (and they have appointments available online) so I'm hoping to be sorted this evening.....hopefully!

I’f definitely want them redoing. The second picture middle finger is really bad, that nail looks sooo thick!
