I'm not happy with how she did my nails

I go to a lovely place for my nails for years and this time I went to another girl. She was very lovely and took her time but I feel my nails look like I could have done it myself. I paid 61 pounds including nail art and am happy to pay this as the nail art is normally really good. I get them done once a month

I'll post a picture of what I wanted versus what I got. Maybe I'm being unreasonable or just need to get used to them

I’m sorry OP but you need a new salon. Whether this is polish or gel or builder, it should work around your nail shape rather than creating a new one. A good nail tech will make your nails look completely natural in terms of shape on the nail bed. £56 for a terrible manicure is daylight robbery; I’d have binned them off well before now.

I had an issue with my nails the other day (the gel hadn’t cured right and had puckered but we didn’t notice in the salon). I rang up, they said come straight back and fixed it so they’re perfect - no extra charge.

First thing I thought was still look bulky /thick

When saw the pic

First comment after is same view as me

To thick

How many coats does she do

Overthebow · 11/06/2024 20:00

The new nails look better than the orange, but to be honest they just looks a bit strange, like it’s been glooped on and not at all natural looking. Maybe it’s the colour? It’s a bit glue like.

Sunshineclouds11 · 11/06/2024 20:02

Agree it's still bulky, you need to change nail shape aswell I think

PuddlesPityParty · 11/06/2024 20:10

OP 😩

I was thinking the same! How many layers are on there. It still looks incredibly thick 😬

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 11/06/2024 20:26

Just coming on to say that though your nails look better they’re still not great. I’m surprised she’s older and in demand as a nail tech.

All I will say is sometimes London “named” salons seem to feel they can get away with substandard work and still charge a lot.

For me, my local nail tech is very good (I don’t get them done much) and charges slightly above average prices but not over priced at all. I’m in SE London.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 11/06/2024 20:30

Unless your nails are actually that wide shape, they still look awful OP. Try a better salon.

BodenCardiganNot · 11/06/2024 20:41

How many layers are on them? They still don't look great.

ChimneySweepLiverpool · 11/06/2024 20:50

Two layers and then a top coat. Photo from another angle now

I won't be going there again

Oh op, it’s really disappointing when someone has done a poor job when it’s supposed to be a nice treat.

The baby and middle finger in particular looks like it’s a nearly ready for an infill!

ABirdsEyeView · 11/06/2024 22:52

Agree that although the colour is better, these look like they've been done at home, by someone who isn't very good at doing nails!

Amsx · 12/06/2024 14:01

They look better from that angle but I wouldn't go there again.

Gels are supposed to look pretty and not thick.

ChimneySweepLiverpool · 12/06/2024 18:50

I won't be going there again

I felt pretty awkward even going back for it to be rectified

It's a shame as it was a very relaxing atmosphere but they're charging ridiculous money for that 'atmosphere'

Btw OP you have really nice hands and totally normal nails, I hope this hasn't given you a weird complex!

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/06/2024 20:06

Least next place will save you money

Roughly half

I'm sorry, but they don't look good at all! I don't mean to be rude, but I think I'll stick to doing my own nails...

They look lovely now OP, it's very difficult with short nails. Mine are very short also but I try to keep them squared if I can and that helps.

Why would you comment on a thread that's been dead for 2 months to tell the OP her nails look crap?

Shroedy · 13/08/2024 11:25

@LordSnot presumably as an excuse to post a picture of how great she thinks her own nails look...
