I'm not happy with how she did my nails

I go to a lovely place for my nails for years and this time I went to another girl. She was very lovely and took her time but I feel my nails look like I could have done it myself. I paid 61 pounds including nail art and am happy to pay this as the nail art is normally really good. I get them done once a month

I'll post a picture of what I wanted versus what I got. Maybe I'm being unreasonable or just need to get used to them

They arent self employed, no. I would understand if that was the case. I'm sure anyone can just remove and apply nude as offered

Thanks for hearing from a nail tech @Blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahlalala

I’d just book one of the appointments today and turn up to get them fixed and refuse to pay - they will not want a scene in front of other customers

Me too, although I feel like causing a scene isn't OP's thing. I don't think you should have to pay either OP, but for the sake of speed and feeling good at the wedding just use the remaining birthday vouchers. You don't want to go back anyway (and shouldn't, after they've treated you like this).

I actually don't think they're that bad (but also not good, I can see the orange is too chunky) and was going to say don't stress about sorting them before the wedding, but now they've treated you so poorly I'd be getting them off ASAP otherwise every time I saw my hands I'd be pissed off.

BranchGold · 07/06/2024 11:34

Was it Townhouse op?

I'd do this too given how you feel.

@cloudofbats I'm not blind & I don't think they look good but I still think it's what the Op asked for, she just has entirely different hands & nails to the model, hence why they don't look good.

I'm happy for you to educate me on what the nail tech actually did wrong though as I'm not seeing that.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 07/06/2024 12:38

I’m sorry OP, they look ridiculously bad.

OriginalUsername2 · 07/06/2024 12:43

I just showed people this and in unison the answer was “round fingernails!”

CocoapuffPuff · 07/06/2024 13:05

The orange bit looks really blobby and almost puffy. How has that happened? Is it too thick application? It makes OP's nails look infected, to me.

Amsx · 07/06/2024 13:23

Charge them for the gloves you're going to need to wear all weekend Grin

Iaskedyouthrice · 07/06/2024 13:30

A good nail technician would have told you your nails were not suitable for the pattern. Then offered alternatives. Especially at those prices 😳. Is there anywhere else local that can fit you in today? I don't think I would go back there, not with the same technician doing it.
Round here it's around £35 for a full set of acrylics AND painting/nail art! I am very boring so just have a nude powder with clear polish on top. It costs me £27. I then stick on my own nail art as and when I want it. Can't go wrong.

scrapsontheside · 07/06/2024 14:02

Wow that's terrible customer service! They are relying on the perceived awkwardness of having it rectified the the same person! I would be leaving them a honest review and would include photos.
It's not just the "art work" that is not great, the actual nails are not a good shape, they are very expensive and to be honest look like they were done at the training college not at a salon.

ChimneySweepLiverpool · 07/06/2024 14:09

Jesus people have given me a lot of self consciousness towards my nail shape now 🙄

I couldn't find anywhere local to squeeze me in unfortunately so I've just had to put up with it

I've passed on the vouchers for the future to a friend and I'll pay somewhere when I get back to change them for me

I wouldn’t accept their 2pm appointment. Say you’re not happy but would like this to be changed next week free of charge as you’re not happy with the results and the tech should’ve done one nail to check you were happy with it.

Also emphasise £61 is a lot to pay for a shoddy job. Say you demand/would like another tech to do it and not the original one as you’re not happy with her work. I bet she’s not that experienced either.

I’ve got a similar shaped fingernail but the nail techs I’ve worked with in the past have worked with them. And got good results.

ChimneySweepLiverpool · 07/06/2024 14:23

She's actually one of the older staff and most experienced and is always booked out. That is what is so strange!

Why would you go back to someone who you have lost trust in and get them to repair

Usually the manager would over see and correct any faults

Are you wearing orange to the wedding

ABirdsEyeView · 07/06/2024 16:01

I'd ring them back and say you need it fixed today because you are going away and don't want to leave it til Tuesday. Remind them how much money you spend on a regular basis with them.
If they won't put this right m, leave them a stinking online review, with pictures!

Your nails are fine, I think bigger nails look better than small nails.

One colour looks best on larger nails I think (a dark shade is best, with either very subtle or no nail art). I always go for the same red/orange shade (I've got quite big nails!).

ChimneySweepLiverpool · 08/06/2024 23:03

This morning in the shower the orange gel polish was somewhat soft, I was able to move parts of it with other nails. This has never happened before but I'm assuming it's because it's too think ?!

We need a picture!

FlamingoFlamboyance · 09/06/2024 01:10

This is uncured gel if it's soft, which I'm not surprised about as it's so thick. You should definitely tell the salon about this as uncured gel on skin can trigger allergies (depending on the brand)

Yes too thick and under layers aren't cured. That's why it looks like smarties.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/06/2024 10:39

Take a pic of it moved

Too thick. Hasn't dried /set properly

Did she do the smudge test after

My nail lady always does

And sometimes says put nails back in for another 60 seconds

ChimneySweepLiverpool · 11/06/2024 18:50

Update....no longer round skittles!

I'm not happy with how she did my nails
OP posts:
HollyKnight · 11/06/2024 19:26

The colour is much better, but I dunno, I still feel like it's too bulky. Too much gel is being added to the sides. It's making your fingers looked clubbed. Maybe you actually need a different nail shape? Straight across rather than rounded.

HollyKnight · 11/06/2024 19:28

ChimneySweepLiverpool · 06/06/2024 15:56

I don't have a lot of photos of my nails previously but I found one @StoneColdAlibi

No tips, just my own nails

This shape looks much better.
