Botox is it worth it?

Im 50 and all of a sudden I have wrinkles and lines which are really aging, I also look like I’m permanently scowling or growling with collapsed eye brows. Also hate my 11 lines.

I just want to look like a fresher version of my self. Anyone relate? Did Botox fix it for you?

When I first got Botox, I thought something had gone wrong because I hadn't lost any movement in my forehead. After a couple of days it kicked in and I could tell there was a bit less movement, but only partially. I could still knit my brow, just not quite as deeply. I wondered if I needed a top up, but the lines disappeared and stayed gone for quite a while even after all movement returned.

The overdone frozen look is generally something you have to work towards; minimum dose once a year or so really, really won't do it.

@aliceinanwonderland Filler replaces lost volume or alters the shapes of your face i.e. bigger lips, cheek bones. Botox smooths out lines by paralysing the muscles to some degree.

Thank you!

@BridgerGo @123Valentina123 would you mind sharing your C London recommendations please. Many thanks

Thudercatsrule · 31/01/2024 11:45

I pay £100 every 3months and that includes a 2wk top-up. I get my forehead done and more recently my marionette lines, which is amazing!

Aquariumcorals · 31/01/2024 11:49

Can't recommend it enough.. I started early (28) for my 11s. My Dr said prevention is always better than trying to fix it after it has become a deep stubborn wrinkle and he was right. Now 37 and I'm still being ID for alcohol at the supermarket on occasion. My gfs who haven't had botox look visibly older with lines on their foreheads and are now talking of getting it themselves. I have it twice a year.

Waitingfordoggo · 31/01/2024 11:50

Can anyone who has quite deep 11s say how much improvement has been made with Botox? I know it can’t eradicate deep lines but would be good to know what sort of improvement could be expected. Anyone willing to share before and after pics? (Just of the 11s 😂)

Here you go - I developed an annoying L shaped groove which is gone now.

Ooh talk to me about the marionette lines!!

MsFogi · 31/01/2024 12:15

@BridgerGo @123Valentina123 could you let me have your London addresses please?

Graasspp · 31/01/2024 12:17

1000% worth it.

But choose your injector wisely. I've been seeing the same dermatologist for 10 years (arggg). I cheated on her 3 or 4 times and always regretted it. She is genius in knowing what you really need

RicePuddingWithCinnamon · 31/01/2024 12:18

Does it help with sagging? My face is a bit droopy, I would also like some wrinkles filled.

Ooh talk to me about the marionette lines!!

I've had mine for years and really gave me the resting bitch face! So when i had my last botox session, it includes 3 areas, so she suggested trying it on the lines, its part of the area they do when you have Botox facelift!

About 5-6days after having it, i looked in the mirror and they were lifted! One side is slightly deeper than the other, so at the 2week topup, she put slightly more in one side and i can honestly say its the best thing i ever did!

When you get it done the first time, the numb feeling is quite off putting, but that goes after a few days.

The only other option was filler, but that scares me a little!

Mine are entirely gone and they were very deep. Especially one side which had a line that stayed there the entire time.

I want some movement back really, I feel expressionless a little. I think after a month or so I’ll be happier.

FigAndOlive · 31/01/2024 12:43

Sooooooooooo worth it! And one of the most natural touch-ups you can make that actually make a difference and make you look fresher. Currently pregnant and counting my days to have my top-up LOL

WhenWereYouUnderMe · 31/01/2024 12:47

Oh I'm definitely trying that @Thudercatsrule - mine make me look like my auntie, who is 68....

Sorry if you know this, but just be aware that it's not recommended if you're breastfeeding either.

irishapple · 31/01/2024 13:09

I've had Botox for elevens and it wore off after 4 weeks (had top up after 2 weeks).

Such a shame as I liked the results!

MHamp · 31/01/2024 13:11

100% yes! It's not so much that makes you look younger for me, but it just brightens up my complexion, I look awake! I only have it once a year but I love it.

Skinlikeateen · 31/01/2024 13:50

Any Brighton or surrounding area recommendations please?

Mountain9 · 31/01/2024 14:01

My concern is that once you stop you look worse. Do you have yo do it forever? How often.

Don't think you will look worse, you'll have less pronounced lines. You just may have to adjust to the new wrinkles!

MrsRachelDanvers · 31/01/2024 14:03

I think it can look really good. However, I’ve seen when someone talks, their eyes and face move normally, but the bit above their nose (where they’ve had 11s done) is completely still so something looks a bit off. But it’s only probably noticed when you’re looking for it. I amused myself one afternoon by checking out colleague’s faces (all women of a certain age) and really noticed where they’d had it-I was thinking of having it done myself but after checking it out, am less sure. It’s not a huge thing though-if you get it done and don’t like it, don’t you just wait for it to wear off?

I was with a friend last week, I’ve not seen her for a while, and she’s clearly had some work done, but I don’t think it’s been done very well…her face was super shiny, without a single line in her (50s) and she just looked not human! I kelp being aware that I was really staring at her, but couldn’t stop myself!

Im not anti Botox in any way, it didn’t work for me, but equally I’ve seen it done well, and it can look great

Not in my experience. The 11s have never come back as deep as they were originally.

How often depends on how lined you are and what you want. I get it every 12-18 months.

javamum · 31/01/2024 14:13

Someone super shiny and line free in 50s will likely be using filler as well and it’s that that gives the real uncanny valley Victoria Beckham type look.
