Botox is it worth it?

Im 50 and all of a sudden I have wrinkles and lines which are really aging, I also look like I’m permanently scowling or growling with collapsed eye brows. Also hate my 11 lines.

I just want to look like a fresher version of my self. Anyone relate? Did Botox fix it for you?

My concern is that once you stop you look worse. Do you have yo do it forever? How often.

Worse than what though?

Worse than with Botox? Well, obviously.

Worse than if you never had it? No, because you've had years of not making the grooves deeper by frowning.

How do you find somewhere good and reputable to get it done?

Can you get it done on the day, or do you need to have a consultation appointment first?

anyone recommend anywhere in Cheshire?

how do you know what to ask for?

Women do in fact age OP, it's just that most have been brainwashed to pretend we don't.
I bet none of the above have ever lost a loved one young, because that alone wakes you up to the fragility of life and how insane to try to turn the clock back.

Gosh do we? Well that's a revelation isn't it.

This is a vile vile post. How very dare you comment on the bereavement experiences of women. Disgusting.

When people say they’ve had it but it’s not noticeable, then what’s the point?!

Because you don't look frozen or unnatural, just like a refreshed healthy version of yourself.

I have to say I really notice when women the same age as me haven't had it, and always wonder why not 😆 It's pretty much painless, quick, and makes such a huge difference.

You can very easily get a refreshed look from at least four products that Elemis does. I have had fillers three times. They are great but too costly for me these days. Cheaper for me to buy certain products from Elemis on Ebay. Less bother and saves me money. Not that Elemis is cheap mind.

Well it is noticeable, in that the lines disappear. I find it a bit weird that the Botox detectives, when giving the list of clues they look for when scrutinising women's foreheads for traces of Botox, never mention this ginormous clanger. THE LINES ARE GONE!

So if you're watching someone's lines closely day to day, you probably will notice. You'll certainly notice your own. But done properly, it isn't this big huge dramatic change. You just look a bit better rested, less tired, fresher. If people do notice, they'll probably just think you've slept better or are less stressed.

My husband spends a lot of time gazing at my face and he never noticed and still doesn't unless I tell him I've been. Just like some days you look less puffy, less tired, less drained.

LOl at the Elemis adverts here - Elemis cannot give you the same look as Botox

And to those bewailing the patriarchy - the same could apply to anyone who dyes their hair, wears make up, wears nice clothes - should we all stop doing anything that makes us look good because of capitalism? Maybe but then hop onto every thread in S&B to have a go ...

@123Valentina123 love to hear in a DM who you go to because it's a lot cheaper than my place, which is the very best of the best but not sure it's necessary to go so high end ...

Thanks to those who shared their experiences and photos in response to my question. My 11s are way worse than any of yours are! I have static lines that are always there- I know Botox can’t change these, but I wondered if it softens them at all. But I haven’t got an answer yet cause you lot were way smoother than me to start with! 😂

Very good I found and a great eye for it - have previously used GPs, cosmetic surgeons and nurses for botox and the above is the best.

Thank you

WhenWereYouUnderMe · 31/01/2024 15:35

That's great @Augustus40 but I have really sensitive skin around my eyes and need to stick to the very few products I've found that don't set off a horrible allergic reaction.

Yes can soften with repeated treatments. But may not go completely

Would Botox help lift "hooded" eyelids?

Only an upper bleph would really fix that,

RicePuddingWithCinnamon · 31/01/2024 16:07

This probably a stupid question but for those saying it’s not too noticeable or it’s subtle, why do celebrities look so young/good?

You need filler to fill out the lines, Botox won’t do that. It can soften them over time and prevent them from developing further.

Well they were gorgeous to start with; there's no making up for that head start!

But Botox is the absolute least of what they get done. I wonder if that's why so many people are so misguided about it...they think it's the only treatment celebrities have. It's not!

RicePuddingWithCinnamon · 31/01/2024 16:29

I didn’t think I would look like Angelina Jolie but I am wondering if it’s unaffordable for me to just look a bit better rather than absolutely shit loads hotter 😬

It really isn't the metamorphosis a lot of people think it is. It smooths out lines...that's it. Yes, you can overdo it, but not with a single minimum dose.

It doesn't even make you look younger. It makes you look less frowny.

If you try it once on minimum dose you're not going to end up looking like a drumskin, any more than one weights session is going to turn you into Arnie.

You look lovely - v similar effect to what it's had on me x

Discorisco · 31/01/2024 19:24

I am very tempted as I have a very expressive face and deep wrinkles. I think I look older than my age. I know botox won't make my lines disappear but softening would be good. Any recommendations for a good Wales practitioner?

This is fucking hilarious. You're clearly frowning with all your might in the 'before' pic 🤣
