Have had the exfoliated, moisturised and slender baton passed to me tonight so here is the new thread as requested!
Hmmmm, I think the rules are:

  • Early bed, by 10.30pm if poss
  • staying off booze if possible, weekends exempt
  • Five a day and a healthy diet
  • Exercise - lots of us are ignoring using an Omron pedometer to attempt a good number of steps
  • Loving our trotters, most of us use Flexitol and a chisel
  • Taking care of our skin with 2l of water a day and a skincare routine (Liz Earle and Eve Lom high on many lists)
  • Staying happy

Welcome Iamdingdong, I saw you trundling through the Alps with Eric Sykes this afternoon (slacker's confession time, ds, dd and I watched Monte Carlo or Bust ) and all other newcomers

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and is ready to wrestle Holy Week kicking and screaming to the ground until it begs for mercy!

Great news L & S! You go, girl! Could the first bootcamp baby now be with us?

Am struggling with too much work, too many builders, the sodding crappity crapness of the bathstore and general feelings of anxiety. I went to bed at 8.30 last night, one DD after another kept me up til gone 12 then DH rolled in from a 10 course tasting menu extravaganza at Maze and woke me up again. Feel pants and possibly coming down with a cold. Am out tonight with a known wino so doubt I will escape unscathed or indeed unbathed by a vat of something delicious. Wish me luck...

Best wishes to all with lurgy and all those on Easter hols. Back later.

WideWebWitch · 26/03/2008 20:55

Well today

banana and strawberry Innocent smoothie
2 pieces white bread toast, butter, Marmite
banana
apple
chicken and lettuce wrap thing
100 cal bag of pretzels
another apple
about 10 Pringles
some honey roasted nuts at Euston
and about to eat pizza and watch The Apprentice
have small glass of red wine, may have another

but feel happy, good day at work, even the packed tube couldn't get me down today.

WideWebWitch · 26/03/2008 21:00

lol at "didn't realise kids were back at school" yeah, right!

Wonder how L&S is getting on?

chutney, enjoy your evening, sorry to hear about anxiety, anything we can help with?

DofN, hope you feel better soon

Hey Marina, did it make you think ooh noooo, couldn't manage another or did it make you think ooh a baybee? I loved holding 1 month old niece at weekend but lovely to hand back too.

Batters, Brighton how lovely!

Must go, siralan beckons!

foxinsocks · 26/03/2008 21:02

good luck L&S.

I had a bad day at work today - too much to do and not enough time and was (rightly) bollocked for not doing something (which I should be doing but have let it slide due to other stuff needing to be done) so now need to kick my arse into gear tomorrow. Have a wonderful boss who is very dynamic but has no understanding of all the admin that comes with my sort of job!

Am also DREADING the blardy train strike next week - I have checked the emergency timetable and we have no trains AT ALL for our whole area. And at the moment, it is scheduled for Monday to Thursday (sob). Either I get the bus (sigh) to the tube and then squish on with millions of people doing the same thing or drive in. They've still got 2 days to call it off so let's hope they do that! Aaarghhh.

I won't post what I've eaten - needless to say, not brilliant and involves lots of jelly beans and biscuits!

marina · 26/03/2008 21:02

Definitely ooo noooo www. She went off like a fire alarm as soon as her weeping mother left the premises and kept it up for two hours solid. I felt like a fat version of Tootsie, jogging round the house with a fed, changed, burped and soothed monster on my shoulder...
Ds and dd were cowering behind the Lego box pulling faces...

OP posts:
iamdingdong · 26/03/2008 21:03

good day today: museli, jiuce, coffee, apple mid morning, lunch - chicken wrap (with salsa, no sour cream etc) chips and salad then grapes, packet chicken crisps whilst waiting to get a new tyre (£128 ) on my way home then salad for tea and no wine tonight

I have a really spotty back at the moment, this is quite unusual for me - any thoughts ladies?

L&S assume you are getting on well

WideWebWitch · 26/03/2008 22:40

lol Marina

FIS can you make a case for working from home?

WideWebWitch · 26/03/2008 22:41

sorry no thoughts on backs other than I wouldn't even notice if mine was spotty. So, er, don't look, does that help? Suspect not

bamamama · 26/03/2008 22:47

hello all, just popping in to say good luck L&S!

Right, bama pops out again...

Prufrock · 26/03/2008 22:51

Good luck L&S - hope the first bootcamp baby is here by now.

I've eaten lots of chocolate, and have decided that bootcamp and school holidays don't mix.

LoveAndSqualor · 27/03/2008 10:24

Good morning! after most frustrating day at hospital, I am back home, minus baby! (that is, he's still there, just not made the transition to the outside world yet). Seems hind waters may have leaked but they seem to have stopped, and now am back to period pains and not much else. Doubly (triply!) cross because everyone else in my ante-natal group has given birth and I am still sitting here, the elephant in the room .. Thank you all so much for good wishes, though. Have to go back into hosp this afternoon anyway for 41-week appt to discuss induction, sigh. Blood pressure still low, so hopefully they'll let me keep going for a bit ...

Now on to the really important things ... Tortoiseshell!! Night Owls!!! you've just taken me back about 20 years - used to love it - as I remember there'd always be some woman on about how she had a ghost in her house - "Eeeee, Alan, seeeeeriously, ah can hear him moving around upstairs!"

Iamdingdong, I had a spotty back in early pregnancy and it was grrrrrr-im - v bad luck. Found body brushing helped, and used a bit of Eve Lom on it too ... seemed to clear it up. Good luck!

OK, am off to waddle walk around the park before next appt - have downloaded the audiobook of Great Expectations (read by Hugh Laurie!) onto my iPod to distract me from aches and pains. Will keep you posted with developments!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 27/03/2008 10:42

L&S! Thanks for update! I'm glad you're both OK but sorry that it's still draggggging on. I hate the wait at the end especially when they're late (DD2 was a week early, she's my favourite )!!!! The midwife should give you at least another week before booking an induction so keep up the waddling and everything else!

Sheeesh, I've been sat on MN 'just while I drink my coffee', for about an hour! I must get on!

foxinsocks · 27/03/2008 14:22

oh poor you L&S. Hope it kick starts soon.

Apparently train strike has been suspended (typical - this always happens last minute doesn't it, though their plans were pretty advanced for the strike days which makes me think they thought there was a good possibility it would go ahead). So I am very pleased (and relieved) about that.

iamdingdong, are you at a certain point in your cycle (as I find I am more likely to be spotty at certain times)?

tortoiseSHELL · 27/03/2008 17:25

Oh L&S - what an anticlimax! Glad all is well though.

Do you remember people like 'Fran from Cram'? and 'hiya Alan, I'm a first time caller and I'm a bit nervous!'.

I miss the Flashing Blade! I always wanted to phone in for a Bank Holiday crazy night, but never quite had the nerve! But I do remember the night Paul Gascoigne phoned in completely p*ssed and took part!

iamdingdong · 27/03/2008 19:25

thanks for all your spotty thoughts I can't remember having a really spotty back ever but am trying hard with less booze, more water, healthier eating, better (facial) skincare so maybe all the nastiness is coming out in my back - does that sound feasible?

Anyway, bootcamp wise a reasonable day, though I did succumb to a chocolate biscuit at lunchtime and have just had some minstrels but no wine again.

DT2 is poorly, poor love, high temp and sore throat which makes her whimper everytime she catches it so it may be a long night

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 27/03/2008 20:12

FIS - good news about the strike. Unless your boss had told you to stay at home fully paid eating cake and reading books.

iamding - detoxing through your back makes sense to me, if it's the case I guess it will just clear up on it's own in a week or so?

My feet hurt lots. Another day of rushing about though it did end with a perfect playdate (good things come to those that wait!). DD1 and friend helped make pizza, helped feed the animals, collected the eggs and played with younger siblings without any shouting. Fab!

I've done over 8000 steps and have eaten toasted hot cross bun, orange juice with iron supp, stir fry veg & noodles, chocolate biscuit, raw carrots, apple, plum, macaroni cheese with broccoli & baked tomatoes. Some easter egg may follow soon.

Face & hand cream yes. Everything else woeful. Quite a late night and not sleeping well again. Roll on the weekend...

WideWebWitch · 27/03/2008 21:47

L&S fingers crossed that baby comes soon, how frustrating. I was v late with dd too, she came just before I was threatened with inducton

Crap day bootcamp wise

toast at home x 2
toast at work x 2
chicken tikka sandwich
doritos
apple
kit kat
bacon and cheese croissant
sea bass with rosemary
peas
spinach
asparagus
prosecco but not much, half bottle and going to bed ni half an hour

but feel happy so that's good
and boss told me today she can tell I drink lots of water as my skin looks 'hydrated' I think she meant plump

moonshine · 28/03/2008 16:36

L&S - hope your silence today means that maybe things are moving again.

WWW - what happened to the 100g of granola you used to have every day?

Bootcamp pretty good for me over the past few days. Gym session today (although I have felt completed washed out since I did it ) and limited myself to just a sandwich for lunch which is v good for me when I have my day off.

Hair bad - thanks to the persistent rain.

Skin - feels soft thanks to body brushing and moisturiser (I have decided that I don't like the Palmer's particularly but that the L'Oreal Nutrilift or whatever it's called is excellent - always return to using it. But not for firming skin, not mine anyway - it's gone way past that stage thanks to years of yo-yo weight and crap genes).

Wardrobe - really bad. Everything is now too big or still too small. I have been obsessively clothes shopping on-line for weeks and cannot make myself commit to buying something. I am especially desperate for a pair of work trousers that do not make me look like M C Hammer in his harem pants stage.

Have a good weekend all - I am already looking forward to a glass of red wine with a (home-made) curry.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 28/03/2008 16:42

Hoping all is progressing for L&S

Bootcamp wise I seem to yo-yo between being fab and being utterly crap. Yesterday was fab - a full house. Today, so far has been poor and shows no sign of improving.

Have ordered new running shoes though (the closest I'll get to exercise today!)

Well done to the body-brushers. arf @ MC Hammer trousers. What shoes saggars? I'll need some suitable for winter weather at the end of the year, any recommendations?

My cold is horrible, my feet still ache and I am losing my voice due to pre-school end of term party including catering for 100, judging the bonnet competition and orchestrating the egg hunt. Who'd be a Chair eh? bof!

Less than 6000 steps despite all the excitement. I've eaten honey sandwich, cheese & salad roll, homemade coleslaw and Easter chocolate cake. Not enough water but I'm playing catch up. Out to dinner with staff & committee in a minute where I should be eating crayfish & rocket salad, fish pie & lemon meringue.

Hurrah it's the weekend! (Only horticultural show & swimming lessons tomorrow, once I've washed & ironed the school uniforms the time is all my own... )!

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 28/03/2008 20:06

You sound busy Norks. You should have your feet up. How's the sciatica?

Re runners, I've ordered my trusty Asics, last year's model though, GT 2120. Can't justify the newer version when I'm barely doing 20 miles a week.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 28/03/2008 23:57

I am too busy. Sciatica hasn't been too bad this week but is steadily getting worse. One more week of school and then we have two weeks off though.

I haven't spent my SweatBetty vouchers yet so I could blow a huge amount of money on shoes when I start running again - which given the sciatica and aching feet seems a long way off.

I'm impressed with your 20 miles per week. I'd be very pleased with that.

Tonights dinner was lovely, I sat in a pub for 3 hours and only drank water and didn't finish the lemon meringue.

ChutneyMary · 30/03/2008 09:08

Bootcamp disastrous for me this week. Am just about to go and teach so must grout my face. Hope you are all having a good weekend.

Any news from L&S? I hope she's had him by now, poor girl, she'll be SOOOOO fed up.
