Have had the exfoliated, moisturised and slender baton passed to me tonight so here is the new thread as requested!
Hmmmm, I think the rules are:

  • Early bed, by 10.30pm if poss
  • staying off booze if possible, weekends exempt
  • Five a day and a healthy diet
  • Exercise - lots of us are ignoring using an Omron pedometer to attempt a good number of steps
  • Loving our trotters, most of us use Flexitol and a chisel
  • Taking care of our skin with 2l of water a day and a skincare routine (Liz Earle and Eve Lom high on many lists)
  • Staying happy

Welcome Iamdingdong, I saw you trundling through the Alps with Eric Sykes this afternoon (slacker's confession time, ds, dd and I watched Monte Carlo or Bust ) and all other newcomers

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and is ready to wrestle Holy Week kicking and screaming to the ground until it begs for mercy!

WWW - really good news about work - think you deserve champagne which I would drink at every even teeny weeny bit suitable opportunity if we had some more disposable income.

Batters - didn't think to search the health topic - good idea. I do try and take EPO but, as with anything I do in life, I am neither persistent nor consistent, but it has go so bad I really must make the effort.

I'm sorry Sobernow, think I credited Marina and not you for that fabulouly understated 'good progress' statement of going from a size 18 to a 12.

I have eaten and drunk my and my family's weight in chocolate and wine already (and somehow some beer, a bottle of gin and more wine jumped into my trolley in Sainsburys today - oops). But I will try and go to the gym which is open tomorrow morning , so maybe will be able to run off from 9am - 10am Saturday morning (and will worry about the rest of of it next week).

Bodybrushed after feeling guilty for advocating it but not following by own advice and moisturised aplenty.

Feel happier now that my period has nearly finished.

Obsessed again about finding the perfect dresses for work and play. Everything is just too frilly and flouncy for my liking. White Stuff skirt - good and think I have found a good dress on Oli but it is not in stock for 42 days - I shall try and see it as a sign to lose some more weight and go down a size .

Am now off to suggest that it might be time for a 'snifter'....

TheDuchyEggOfNorksBride · 22/03/2008 20:38

Hello, hope you're enjoying the weekend.

www - mmm at quail eggs, PPH has been taunting me with her egg incubater kit and she'll be be 'growing her own quails'. Oh think of an unlimited supply of fresh quails eggs...

moonshine - good for bodybrushing and think how virtuous you'll feel tomorrow if you start the day with a gym session?

L&S - how are you feeling now? Ready for more lobster & champagne with a raspberry tea chaser?!

mmmMomma - I joined bootcamp for similar reasons, too many late nights and not enough water. The water at least I've improved on (though I suspect it's easier atm because I'm pregnant). Facial skincare I've been in a routine with for years and years but hands, body and feet have been patchy! I am slightly better now, particularly with hands. Enjoy your non-chocolatey, chocolate tomorrow!

A reasonable amount of exercise including swimming today. Sciatica is not too bad - I think it's the school runs that make it worse.

I've eaten cereal, cheese, salad & French bread, apple, spicy sausage casserole, quinoa & green beans and an orange. And a large bag of Tyrells crisps is awaiting DH & I for when we watch film in a minute.

Lots of water & orange juice. Face & hand cream good. Late night last night. Not a sniff of a massage so far this weekend...!

tortoiseSHELL · 22/03/2008 23:39

L&S - yes am north-easterner through and through (Durham) but living in South West now.

Prufrock · 22/03/2008 23:39

I'm sitting here with a glass of wine, and obviously too late, and a huge box of hotel chocolat eggs in teh larder, but I'm actually feeling really rather positive about my whole bootcamp experience you know.

OK so I still break teh rules now and again (and again, and again) but when I think back to this time last year, it's mazing whta a difference this thread has made to my life (if not a huge difference to my body). I now drink 2l water very nearly every day. on days llike today when I haven't I really notice feeling dehydrated by the end of the evening. It's become a habit for me not to drink during the week (except holidays) I eat breakfast every day, and I exercise at least 5 times a week. I bodybrush nearly every morning, clean my face nearly every night and my nails are so nourished from all teh handcream that I no longer have to spend time and money on acrylics (even though I still maintain they didn't look WAGish at all)

So thank you www (and welcome back - your temporary alter-ego just wasn't the same) - you have changed my normality into a far healthier state.

TheDuchyEggOfNorksBride · 23/03/2008 19:56

pru - I share your positive bootcamp sentiments! On the whole, I'm taking much better care of myself.

And now I'll confess my sins! I have eaten cereal, OJ with iron supplement, hot chocolate, roast chicken, roast potatoes, stuffing, peas, green beans & carrots, tarte tatin & cream, cheese sandwich & chocolate biscuit. A single raw carrot! And several fruit truffles from Hotel Chocolat (sooo goood) and some chocolate egg from the same retailer. Isn't DH a dear! I suspect a good deal more fruit truffles to be consumed this evening. Lots of water, probably too much coffee.

I have done well over an hours mucking out though - at least 6 full barrows. Very hard work. But I have cast off the shackles of my Moron for the duration of the Easter weekend!

ChutneyMary · 23/03/2008 19:59

Am feeling positive but slightly overindulged . Too many biscuits, raw cake mixture, chocolates, lumps of cheese etc. Hardly anything on the moron either - but will start a new cycle of virtuousness tomorrow

Happy Easter, everyone.

WideWebWitch · 24/03/2008 09:27

Hello all.

I've realised that I really do feel terrible if I have late nights, not enough fruit and veg, not enough water and too much wine. I know, durr. So we went to bed at 10 last night despite not having to get up for work today and I feel a lot better for it, despite going in to give dd a cuddle at 4am or some such stupid time. Dh and I have sore throats so I think we're fighting something off.

So, yesterday
toast, the yolk of a boiled egg (I like dipping but don't like the white much)
then to my mums where I had

haddock tart and salad
lamb with mint, orange and lemon sauce
baby roast potatoes
sugar snap peas
broccoli
red cabbage
rhubarb fool
brie
smoked cheese
3 glasses of wine with lunch
a custard cream
but then came home and didn't want anything (not surprisingly) so had tiny glass of wine, realised I didn't want to eat or drink any more and went to bed.

Not enough water, I do find that harder when I'm not working
no exercise
It's snowing here and dh and I have tomorrow off so high on happiness too.

LoveAndSqualor · 25/03/2008 09:44

Hello all - sounds like lovely easters all round

tshell - I thought you must be a fellow northerner - could sense a disturbance in the force . I'm from Northumberland (though have been down south for - yikes - 12 years now) and am a passionate advocate of pease pudding. Are you Durham the city or county Durham? One of my grannies lived in Barnard Castle - it's lovely round there.

Sooo - obviously am still here, now five days overdue and getting a mite fed up. Have decided to stop swimming, because it's just toooo comfortable in the water - I think the baby's enjoying it too much. Going to waddle round the park instead to see if that gets him going. Meanwhile, am downing the rasp leaf tea and am about to have a clary sage bath!

Despite the odd bit of easter chocolate (and the odd glass of easter wine/champagne ), I've actually been a model of good behaviour over the weekend - lots of spinach soup and houmous and banana sandwiches and vegetables and cereal. Oooh, Duchess, have been tucking into the raw carrots too!

Have great days everyone - will let you know if the walk/tea/bath have any effect!

LoveAndSqualor · 25/03/2008 09:50

ps saggar, if bath etc fails, can I hire your ds1 for the day and have a go with the headbutting? Sometimes nothing but a direct approach will do

moonshine · 25/03/2008 17:21

Good luck L&S - got any good rollercoasters nearby ?

Duchy - your eating puts me to shame - even when you're being sinful. My dh did manage to buy me a Lindt bunny but only after I had spent several days berating him for having eaten my Lindt snowman at Christmas and never having replaced it . A mystery person also left a choc bunny on my desk at work last Thursday and I have no idea still who it was. I shall pretend that I have a mystery admirer, although I know that the reality will turn out to be far more mundane.

I went to the gym on Easter Sunday (I'm not religious but when did it become a day like any other?) and for a long walk yesterday but generally got cabin fever over the hols because of enforced housebound-ness and excess food.

My moron has a new battery in it but is playing up, so am feeling slightly peeved that I cannot obsessively build up my total this week, especially as everything at work is still very much unsettled.

Batters - I was very excited to see that a local shop seems to sell those 'miracle' jeans so I shall go and try some on in the next couple of weeks or so to test the hype and the scaffolding that they will need for my behind and stomach.

WideWebWitch · 25/03/2008 19:30

Fingers crossed for you L&S!

Shall we stay on this thread for the rest of this week? I had today off so have done loads of chores but nothing v exciting. pizza and salad for lunch...

Just got new contract through and it's until 29 Aug so yay, will take 4 months off after this is finishd, until Jan 09. I can't wait.

iamdingdong · 25/03/2008 19:35

Oh dear, I have been a bit lax over the weekend as far as bootcamp goes too much wine but resisted excessive chocolate consumption, good with handcream and exercise (ish!) though

I am in Co Durham, can't remember who mentioned it now (alcohol has destroyed my few remaining brain cells I think)

iamdingdong · 25/03/2008 19:36

good news about contract WWW thats fab to look forward to

L&S still there? In the nicest possible way, I hope not, for your sake you inderstand!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 25/03/2008 22:23

Quick post before I go up for an early night.

Just over 8,000 steps plus mucking out and weight-lifting with hay bales etc as DH in town. Despite all this, the sciatica is not too bad.

I've eaten cereal, cheese & crackers, apple, chocolate wafer biscuit, lobster, watercress & mayo - lack of carbs with dinner meant I've had a quarter of a very thick Easter Egg this evening and have just had a raw carrot frenzy! 2 coffees all day and lots of water.

Face & hand cream yes. Body & feet no. Can't be bothered now either. I just want to sleep!

Catch up properly with thread tomorrow.

LoveAndSqualor · 26/03/2008 08:47

Hello! just dashing through to say I think my waters may have broken (but not entirely sure ) so am popping into hosp to get checked out. I'll let you know what happens ... cross your fingers for me!

xxx

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 26/03/2008 09:06

Oh good luck L&S I'm just off out to Liverpool for the day, so will check back for news later. dd wants to go to the Beatles Museum thingy and the Tate.

Oh wow, LAS, good luck will be thinking of you
Am boot-camping lite this week as predicted but enjoying plenty of squabbles fun with the dcs.
Had 7 month old niecelet to mind yesterday too
That was a horrible flashback to the days of flying puree and eldritch screeches!
Have a lovely day all and good to see you posting as you again www

tortoiseSHELL · 26/03/2008 09:10

Ooh exciting L&S!!!! Good luck!

I'm sure you have more on your mind just at this precise moment(!) but I was Durham City. Like you have been down south for years, but I do still love the north east.

My internet keeps breaking, so I haven't been able to get on over the weekend, and won't bore you with what food etc! But not TOO bad.

Let's all think 'pushing' vibes for L&S!

tortoiseSHELL · 26/03/2008 09:12

(PS L&S - was very impressed at your 'northerner scouting skills - I normally find people out by mentioning Alan Robson's Night Owls and that brings them out of the woodwork!)

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 26/03/2008 13:38

Ooh L&S, I hope it was your waters, followed by swift labour and your very own mewling infant.

I'm having a minging day so far - foraging for pre-school party food and Bonnet prizes etc. I've had to go to 3 supermarkets over a 20 mile trip. Gah! Should have gone straight to Waitrose in the first place!.

WideWebWitch · 26/03/2008 15:29

Oh HOW EXCITING L&S, we're all thinking of you!

Iota · 26/03/2008 18:20

I appear to be slacking again this week as dh is on holiday and the kids are at school - he "didn't realise that the kids are not on holiday this week"

so we have been out for lunch at a tapas bar and I am still stuffed

I wonder how L&S is geting on?

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 26/03/2008 18:30

Lucky iota - I love tapas!

DH has just thrown all 3 DCs into the bath and is reading them The Prisoner Of Azkaban, so an early evening post from me. But I'll be back later to see if there is any news from L&S!

Less than 7,000 steps today which seems unfair as I've been on my feet all day. I have a cold so everything that ached already now aches more. I might have a lavender or lemon oil bath later.

I haven't had any water today but have had lots of fruit & raw veg and a bottle of Lucozade. Other than that I've only eaten a Waitrose seafood sandwich as brunch and chilli & pitta bread for dinner. I usually eat loads and loads when I have a cold so tis a bit weird.

Have neglected everything else except face cream, as too busy, too tired and too achey. Rest of the week will be horribly busy so pampering may get deferred until Sunday.
