Have had the exfoliated, moisturised and slender baton passed to me tonight so here is the new thread as requested!
Hmmmm, I think the rules are:

  • Early bed, by 10.30pm if poss
  • staying off booze if possible, weekends exempt
  • Five a day and a healthy diet
  • Exercise - lots of us are ignoring using an Omron pedometer to attempt a good number of steps
  • Loving our trotters, most of us use Flexitol and a chisel
  • Taking care of our skin with 2l of water a day and a skincare routine (Liz Earle and Eve Lom high on many lists)
  • Staying happy

Welcome Iamdingdong, I saw you trundling through the Alps with Eric Sykes this afternoon (slacker's confession time, ds, dd and I watched Monte Carlo or Bust ) and all other newcomers

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and is ready to wrestle Holy Week kicking and screaming to the ground until it begs for mercy!

my, what a busy thread!

today I have eaten a raspberry muffin and a crunchie so pretty crap all round really. Will do better tomorrow.

L&S your chalky friend reminded me about the guy who lived in Sydney and felt compelled to write 'Eternity' in copperplate at least 50 times a day on the streets of Sydney. He did this for 30 years apparently. Keep an eye out tomorrow, they could be back! Oh, and I have no tips about going over your due date. I ended up being induced (I suspect ds would still be in there given half the chance) but you will find that the hopeful phone calls stop after a week, it's like your friends and family have gone off the idea!

TheHonEnid · 19/03/2008 10:18

[frantically orders jeans]

I got up at 6am and went for a gentle run around the village - when I got out of the shower I lost vision in my left eye - migraine. Great! So much for being healthy. Anyway, popped some pills and tried my mums failsafe migraine remedy - mug of very strong (2 bags) tea with a tablespoon (yeach) of honey. So good that I can now bear to have cbeebies on and although still feel a bit weird I am not in much pain.

STill managed to apply Nivea tanning stuff after shower, despite being blind in one eye. Thats dedication for you - this is what I looked like this morning:

I'd rather like someone else to buy them and give them to me I've a nasty feeling that £100 will be my total budget for 'things for me' this summer!

My goodness you lot can chat! I leave the thread yesterday afternoon and have to spend 30mins catching up whilst poor DS is forced to watch 'Big Cook, Little Cook' then I have to send him for a nap so I can post. Even so i will probably forget most of what has been said!

L&S - 'officious neighbour' just has to be done!
No help here about going overdue either as both of mine were considerate enough to arrive a few days early. However pineapple may have got things moving with DD who was being threatened with induction if she hadn't started shifting 24 hours after she broke my waters. Its supposed to be the hard, chewy core does the trick apparently.

Nice day yesterday with the usual round of school/toddler group/cook/avoid cleaning/etc being finished off with a lovely child-free meal with all my friends with children. It's amazing how the conversation can flow when it is not being constantly interrupted by small children. Made us realise that we actually like each other even without the children

So bootcamp yesterday:

  • Early bed - failed!! Nearly midnight and I'm suffering today
  • staying off booze - small glass red as driving
  • Five a day and a healthy diet - yes
  • Exercise - 8,000 steps and no hula hoop
  • Loving our trotters - too late to bed to bother
  • Taking care of our skin with 2l of water a day and a skincare routine - actually managed the water though it means getting up in the night to pee
  • Staying happy - yes

Just [popping in to confess to a whole easter egg and now I feel sick

LoveAndSqualor · 19/03/2008 16:32

Good afternoon, one and all ...

Well, the street art/graffiti protest is still there: DP has been deputed to Deal With It on friday while I hide in the house and eat easter eggs. He woke me up by chuckling this morning, and when I demanded to know what the hell he was laughing at at 6.30am, he admitted it was the thought of chalking 'officious neighbour' on the pavement ... I am far too weedy to do anything like that, but he, alas, is not - Marina, you may well have created a monster

Have decided to encourage the baby to put in an appearance by making as many appointments as possible over the next week or so - somewhat in the manner of lighting a cigarette to summon a bus (happy memories). So have a massage booked for Friday and hair colour for next tuesday, and am feeling far more sanguine about the whole business (feetheart, will still be trying the pineapple though) (and CM, am delighted that champagne is medically recommended, and have demanded that DP furnish me with some, forthwith. Thought of sex at this late stage, however, is horrifying. Simply horrifying. Bleee).

Lovely and pretty healthy lunch with friend (soup, salad, feta cheese and salami, apple, mmmm), followed by a bar of Dairy Milk on bus home (mmmm mmmmmm) and am going out for dinner with those of us from ante-natal class still waiting to pop tonight, which I imagine will involve commiseration and more chocolate.

Enid, body brushing is the only beautifying thing I do consistently, as it really definitely does make a difference, to the feel of your skin if nothing else. And I only do it for about 30 secs a day. Highly recommended! Someone told me it's good to do on your stomach when you're pg too, to prevent stretchmarks, and I haven't got any (yet ... ) so praps there's truth in it (although, you know, ). Like the look of those jeans. Am thinking I will need a bra for my stomach after this business is over.

Duchess, hope the backache is improving?

TQM, excellent work on the easter egg

bundle · 19/03/2008 16:51

hello everyone, oooh it's busy busy busy here

today has been washout as lost debit card (thank god the saintly people at M&S in Waterloo stn are more switched on than me..) and think will slink off home to book group...

although still feelng bit anti-alcohol following saturday (the hostess of the piss up dinner party is supply teacher at dd1/2's school - she looked MUCH better than me today )

have done quite lot of stomping up/down hill to school

made some burgers at home last night with MOUNTAINS of salad

dh took me for lunch, v rare occurence to lovely deli in great titchfield st - had heaps of pastrami/mozzarella

Hello all
God, I still feel sick. Have eaten toast, Marmite, egg sandwich, soggy apple, packet Doritos, a whole proper sized easter egg and lots of water

knackered as person on line last night meant had to go for Indian in Kings X with train buddy and stayed away from home so drank half a bottle of Champagne plus half a bottle of wine in celebration of less hours/more money combo! No hangover as mere 1 bottle over few hours doesn't do that for me but slept terribly in noisy spare room and soooo looking forward to my own bed tonight. Still at work due to interviewing someone but upside is I only have a short day tomorrow and can leave at 4pm.

Lovely thread, will post more to you all later, have skimmed and sniggered due to being at work.

TheDuchyEggOfNorksBride · 19/03/2008 19:05

I haven't worn jeans for at least 25 years. Absolutely loathe the things. Even ones that lift & separate!

L&S - at lighting a cigarette to summon the bus. So true!

I still haven't had my massage. DH is working stupid hours again - he is being nagged by our new and sensible European staff (Dutch & German) whereas our fellow Brits & Yanks don't give a shit about his 20 hour days (and no that isn't an exaggeration).

8,000 steps today and mucking out so backache is vile. Went up to read at about 9.30pm last night and fell asleep, fully clothed with contact lenses in and woke up again at 1am, got ready for bed properly and unusually went back to sleep! Woke up at 5ish though when DH came up.

I have eaten toasted bagel, raw carrots, cheese & crackers, yoghurt, apple, baked potato & cheddar and several squares of G&Bs nutty milk chocolate - it behaved in much the same way as Sobernows wine, just ambushed me whilst I was getting the water out of the fridge...

Tick everything else.

ChutneyMary · 19/03/2008 19:40

Er, must confess to a tube of mini eggs, a snickers and a salami sandwich. It's DD2's birthday and I was having a lot of " a year ago, I was in theatre", "a year ago, we had our first feed" etc and I felt rather wobbly and emotional all day. Plus several of my friends and family have fogotten and so am feeling rather unloved.

Still, she had a great day, we are having friends over for champagne and cake tomorrow and I am plotting a glass or 2 of champagne now. Just to check it's all right and not going to poison anyone. Oh and have got to make the cake. Am doing tasteful white cupcake affair a la Nigella and will report back tomorrow. DD1 has requested a princess cake so taste out of the window for that.

Happy Wednesday girls... god I love this thread !

unknownrebelbang · 19/03/2008 22:38

School's out! Wonder how Saggars' place has got on..

Another quick visit, another late Wednesday, still no school or work tomorrow, even DH is only on a course -pre-retirement!!! Oh my gawd, how frightening exciting!

  • Early night - 10ish.
  • No booze.
  • Five a day and a healthy diet. erm, well the creme egg was from school so...
  • No Exercise
  • Loving our trotters, lax.
  • Taking care of our skin with 2l of water a day and a skincare routine - have had nowhere near enough to drink today, of any variety!
  • Staying happy. Had a pleasant morning -MNing-- pottering around, getting stuff together for the hols, a bracing afternoon wandering around the church grounds for the school service, and a pleasant evening having a larf with various friends at various locations, then came home to mmmm a fishfingers sandwich, thanks DH.
tortoiseSHELL · 20/03/2008 08:46

hi all, sorry wasn't on yesterday, my f*ing internet was off ALL DAY.

Yesterday for me;

Food - 1/4 melon, 1/2 hobnob and 1 fairy cake , v small steak and 1/2 fat caesar salad.

Water - not enough

Alcohol - 1 glass of wine

Bed - 11 (not too bad)

exercise - not enough, will try to do better today!

feet/skin/suncream - poor.

marina · 20/03/2008 10:49

School is almost out for us...one hour and counting, so am parked up at home with some mini eggs for company and planning their social schedule
Happy birthday to dd2 for yesterday Chutney, and hope you have a lovely salon this afternoon (provided the champagne wasn't poisoned of course). I know what you mean about reminiscing - dd's birth was a bit of a difficult time for us as our previous baby was prem stillborn and then dd suffered respiratory collapse on delivery and was whisked off to SCBU So we spent most of August 5th preparing for the worst - not really rationally, but hey - and her birthday five years on is still tinged with bittersweetness. Luckily nowadays it's camouflaged with an avalanche of pink tat and squeals
Hope the Ofsted went well saggars, and your dh's retirement course ureb!
Am good on water, trotters, cream and walking (yesterday), less on chocolate consumption, after being sooooo good during Lent
But happiness is good - I love Holy Week and the Easter Hols with the gruesome twosome
L&S, we will be expecting a daub by daub account of dh's showdown with your mystery neighbour and LOLOL at cigarettes and bus stops. These days it requires dd to set up a Polly Pocket installation to coax a suburban bus out of hiding. But I think in terms of bringing on labour, you need to think big - Woolley Grange or Babington Court, surely. The lifted, separated and faintly golden enid is your woman for luxe hotels west of London...
Bundy, you're no-one until you have left your debit card at a station M & S . ALL of my team have managed to do this over the past year!
Am faintly alarmed at sobernow's post about the calorie intake for weight maintenance...but relieved to hear that the wine has started to leave the building. I'm a fine one to talk - we are still working our way through our Christmas dozen , although as is always the way, we've long drunk the ones we really liked and have four bottles of a meh Spanish red glaring at us from the wine rack...

Torty are you not uber-busy this week? Am singing tonight, Sat night, Sun morning

OP posts:
tortoiseSHELL · 20/03/2008 12:12

marina, yes hugely busy, although I get let off this evening (which actually is a shame as I like the MT service). Dh is out till late tonight though, we both have services tomorrow, dh has one Saturday eve, then I have 1 on Sunday, dh has 3. Last year I did the 'busy' Easter with all the extras, was shattered by the end! So I'm spending today cooking, so that over the weekend we hopefully don't need to do too much.
