Have had the exfoliated, moisturised and slender baton passed to me tonight so here is the new thread as requested!
Hmmmm, I think the rules are:

  • Early bed, by 10.30pm if poss
  • staying off booze if possible, weekends exempt
  • Five a day and a healthy diet
  • Exercise - lots of us are ignoring using an Omron pedometer to attempt a good number of steps
  • Loving our trotters, most of us use Flexitol and a chisel
  • Taking care of our skin with 2l of water a day and a skincare routine (Liz Earle and Eve Lom high on many lists)
  • Staying happy

Welcome Iamdingdong, I saw you trundling through the Alps with Eric Sykes this afternoon (slacker's confession time, ds, dd and I watched Monte Carlo or Bust ) and all other newcomers

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and is ready to wrestle Holy Week kicking and screaming to the ground until it begs for mercy!

OP posts:
LoveAndSqualor · 20/03/2008 16:38

Sobernow, LOL at the naughty bottle of wine. Well done on wrestling it into submission

Duchess, blardy hell to your DH's hours. That's horrific - for both of you. Any light at the end of the tunnel? Will he have to work over easter?

Bundle/marina, I too have left my cash card at a station M&S - in fact, the waterloo one. Surely this surpasses coincidence? Do they have a forcefield to suck in the debit cards of weary travellers, so you have to return and buy more overpriced sandwiches?

Chutney, happy bday to your DD2!

Ladies, it is my due date today, and on the advice of this very thread, I will be celebrating this evening with lobster and champagne! Lots of BHs and cramps but no sign that the child is planning to be on time (horrifying for his time-keeping-obsessed mother). However, a friend has just popped round to lend me series eight of Seinfeld, so I can happily while away a couple of days watching that. LOVE the idea of expensive hotel to bring on birth.

It is fair to say that I have eaten, almost exclusively, nothing but crap today. Chocolate and pizza have formed the basis of my food intake. Oh, and taramasalata on toast for elevenses . Had better eat some fruit and veg with my lobster ...

Well, it is pouring down here, so am thinking the street art may have been washed away from outside our house. DP will be disappointed .

Hello all - sorry have been away a while in the Sloth of Despondency - really really need to find a suitable cocktail of herbal and vitamin pills for my ever-increasing PMS depression (although never get it on the Cambridge Diet - hmmmmm).

Marina - love the title of thread - and your understated (!) 'making good progress' in having gone from a size 18 to a 12 which stuck in my mind from the last thread.

L&S - didn't realise the birth was imminent - when is your actual due date?

Batters - 3 days in a row . I totally agree with equating minutes on the treadmill to food/drink, which is why I always try to go on a Wineday Friday, although it's quite depressing to think that I put in all that effort myself today probably for only 2 sodding small glasses of wine and one lick of chocolate (oh it's only Thursday isn't it? Just feels like a Friday).

I agree about body brushing - it's the one thing that really does make a huge difference to my skin and I really notice the difference when I don't do it for a while (because, when all said and done I am too lazy to stick to any regime, no matter how beneficial it is).

I shall try and catch up with the rest of the thread - what's all this about bum-enhancing jeans - do they do your thighs and stomach at the same time, in which case you have just sold me a pair?

Have a good break for all that are not working - bet I won't be the only one cracking open a bottle soon to 'herald' in the bank holiday, eh?

WideWebWitch · 20/03/2008 18:44

Hello all!

I am back after feeling so cross that I temporarily couldn't even bring myself to start this thread. Apologies but thank YOU to Marina, who has done a fabulous job, I'm sure you'll agree.

I am exceedingly happy as I now have FIVE days off, hoorah and only a 3 day week when I go back.

And the following week my new hours start, which are half nine to half four on 4 days a week and ONE whole blissful lovely day from home. AND I asked for and got more cash, which worked out at about 15%, I am so so pleased so hey, I have had Champagne Tues night, last night and tonight, dh has just poured me a glass. It's got to stop but I am just so exceedingly pleased.

So no point in telling you what I've eaten, too bloody much is the answer but who cares, frankly?

Will read the rest of the thread now!

Iota · 20/03/2008 18:44

Iota · 20/03/2008 18:44

good news WWW

cheers

iamdingdong · 20/03/2008 18:54

good evening ladies didn't report in yesterday, but a good day food and water wise, had a small glass of wine in the evening but am proud as this was end of a bottle and I didn't open another [smug] however...have made up for that tonight as DH and I have already had a bottle of champagne to celebrate my new hours from Sept as they have today agreed I can be as flexible as I like and he is off to the pub in a bit, so I feel obliged to keep drinking too! But it is the weekend now, isn't it?

www great news about your hours/pay sounds like a cracking deal!

momma sounds like a non holiday for you really

batters I too will be at the gym tomorrow morning in the hope that I can work off my lunch out with PILs before I even get there!

foxinsocks · 20/03/2008 18:55

well done www!

I have just called for a takeaway and been given all sorts of free stuff (do you think they can tell we haven't had a kitchen for a while ?). They sounded v busy so I have a feeling a lot of people can't be arsed to cook tonight!

SWT have announced the drivers are going to strike on the 31 March, 1st to the 3rd April so I am VERY much looking forward to the next 4 days when they won't be graced with my presence.

iamdingdong · 20/03/2008 19:00

FIS I'm so glad I don't have to commute in the SE - I used to do it and hated it (and that was only Battersea to Victoria!) it must drive you nuts

L&S fingers crossed you don't have to wait too long

Am going to try body briushing again, I do it sporadically, must try harder (my beauty regime report would definitely get an E for effort, E for achievement A* for ££ spent )

WideWebWitch · 20/03/2008 19:10

Batters, how;s sweet Stuart?

L&S, ooh, are you due today then? How exciting!

unknown, I kwym about eating at work leading to chips and stuff, easily done

bama lol at meat hewn from stray dogs

Omg L&S, just got to post about weirdos leaving chalked notes abut magnolia, they are weirdos, ignore it. at your tree though, I was bought a small one by dh for my 40th (thanks to Sobernow spotting on here that I wanted one and emailing my dh to tell him! How fab is that?) and it's about 4 foot high but I am looking forward to it being a taller tree.

lol at Marina's officious neighbour suggestion, ha ha

Enid, enid, enid, 15 months, well, I knew you;d come here in the end too, Welcome my child. We all have bottles of red all the time, you weren't far off with you "and then I got wankered on Baileys" post

lol at Sobernow's bottles calling to her.

lol again at Banksy, ha ha

lol too at Prufrock's "that's NOTHING, we drank a Jeroboam each with a meths chaser" dinner party, ha ha

Iamdingdong, well done on resisting McD's I don't ahem always manage it

Saggars, sympathy on the Ofsted

Chutney, it's HORRIBLE when they disappear isn't it? Heart stopping.

FIS, oh no re buildes, vomit and non noticing dh. How long would it have taken do you think ? Days? Weeks?

Jeans? I'm not keen either, haven't worn any since before dd, so four and a bit years. Hmm.

hi feetheart, glad you're happy!

Bundle, lost debit card sounds like nightmare oh how lovely to go for lunch with husband, dh and I have Tues off together, sans children so will do same.

sobernow, lol at bottle jumping out at dh

Tshell, glad you got your chickens topic.

Marina, meh bottles would still have been imbibed in our house, left over from Christmas is amazing!

mmm, I think it's fine to knock up a curry because you want it, esp a veg one! Did you?

L&S, I LOVE lobster and Champagne, I hope it works for you and if it doesn't, who cares, frankly, it;s still v delicious.

Moonsihine, I get terrible PMS, sympathy.I need to find something to combat it too but whenever I've bought anything I forget to take it which is pointless.

TheDuchyEggOfNorksBride · 20/03/2008 19:22

mmmMomma - veg curry good! And it sounds like you'll need all your energy to manage your visitors with. Good luck!

batters - I'm very impressed by 3 days in a row at the gym.

www/ding - great job news. well done.

Marina/tshell - enjoy your singing!

L&S - enjoy your lobster. I have one in the freezer that may get eaten this weekend (not that I'm hoping to be 8 weeks premature - I haven't sorted any baby things out yet). DHs long hours will probably go on for another couple of days. If it wasn't such a huge moneymaking exciting project we'd have ditched it by now.

7500 steps, minimum outdoor manual work. Lots of school runs and a playdate - fortunately an easy one that required no entertainment from me.

I've eaten hot cross bun, raw carrots, apple, ham & coleslaw sandwich, 2 mini eggs and possibly eggs & waffles for dinner as I can't think of anything else that's ready to cook.

Lots of water, not much coffee.

Face cream this morning but not since, several applications of hand cream. Nothing else. Had quite an early night and slept well again. Looking forward to 4 days of no-school runs.

Happy Easter!

unknownrebelbang · 20/03/2008 21:16

size 12 from 18 is impressive sobernow.

that was an impressive hangover, bundle!

welcome mmmmomma and hello Enid.

how's your back feetheart?

Wonder how L&S is. Work is great L&S - because I'm not there, hehe. I'm okish, but we have some major problems at the moment. My sector is no different than education, tbh. Like I said wayback, the appraisal isn't really worth the paper it's written on.

Sympathy over the reading Enid, we have ishoos with DS2 over his homework.

Those are long hours Duchess.

Happy birthday for DD2's birthday Chutney. medically my births got worse with each one, although everything was fine in the end so...neither will I commment on the fact that DS1 was born three weeks early, ooops just did, lol. And DS3 once disappeared for a few seconds in Epcot (he was 6). It was indeed a heart-stopping moment.

Batters, three days in a row is impressive.

Fantastic news www.

feetheart · 20/03/2008 21:19

WWW - Welcome back. That sounds like a damn good deal, champagne obligatory I think, well done you.

L&S - hope lobster and champagne do the trick - both of mine started off in the middle of the night so there is hope yet
Shame about rain and street art, was looking forward to the next installment

ChutneyMary - hope you are enjoying champagne too (bit of a theme here ) First birthdays do seem to be a bit emotional don't they and what is it with people and the 2nd/3rd/4th child? Hope the Nigella-esque affair went down well. We did a similar Nigella brownie mountain for DS's 1st birthday, dead easy and very effective with a candle stuck on the top.

mmmMomma - you have 6mth old twins, I reckon most things are acceptable. Veg curry sounds yummy.
Eek at being on your own for 2 weeks with 3. Hope you have some 'Thank God they are all in bed' treats lined up.

batters - very impressed at gym visits, haven't been inside one for about 12 years and have no desire to change that!

Not a bad day today, or yesterday, but it will all fall into a big pit from tomorrow as the choc-fest starts to build. The weather is conspiring against me too as all I want to do this w/e is veg out and eat comforting food - roast duck and treacle tart have already been mentioned.

unknownrebelbang · 20/03/2008 21:22

No sign of saggars?

  • Early night - midnight, but hey, it's the holidays.
  • No booze.
  • Five a day and a healthy diet. hey, it's the holidays, and the boy wonder prepared a simple lunch and baked his fruit cake again.
  • No Exercise
  • Loving our trotters, lax.
  • Taking care of our skin with 2l of water a day and a skincare routine - still not drank enough, am missing the constant supply of tea which is foisted on me at work .
  • Staying happy. Spent the day pottering around, tidying up, packing a few things, blah blah blah, and the boys have been reasonable all day. DH took the three of them to visit both dads, so had a bit of peace too.
feetheart · 20/03/2008 21:23

Back much better thanks, even managed a go on the hula hoop today.

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 20/03/2008 22:06

Hey - I'm here Had a long day. dh went out to work just as I got in; I went out this morning just as he got in. Blardy shiftwork. Last I heard he was babysitting an unexploded WWII bomb, whilst I've had a much less exciting time playing taxi to the kids. Still I have two weeks off now..... from work not from playing taxi.

The news from work is good (although unoffical) suffice to say we were in special measures

Bootcamp - poor I'm afraid. Too many celebratory chocs at work. I'm off to bed now nursing a cracking sore throat and will hopefully catch up with you all tomorrow. At least I can tick off 'go to bed early'. Night.

unknownrebelbang · 20/03/2008 22:41

That's brilliant Saggars!

Less so for DH...mine's had a lucky escape then, what with the susp dth yesterday, and that today...

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 21/03/2008 15:46

www - brill news about work. Champagne well deserved a think.

L&S - hoping for news soon

The unexploded bomb remains unexploded because it was nothing of the sort - it was an empty gas canister It's slightly worrying though in that the bomb squad had to come all the way from Kent!

TheDuchyEggOfNorksBride · 21/03/2008 20:10

hello everyone.

saggars - good news about the Ofsted, well done.

Not much exercise today but I had a nice long session in the bathroom this morning which included body scrub and tanning lotion.

I've eaten cereal, vegetable soup, bread & butter, orange, raw carrots, toasted hot cross bun, scampi, fries & sweetcorn. Lots of water, 2 coffees.

Will now go and fall asleep in front of the fire.

tortoiseSHELL · 21/03/2008 20:12

Hi all, hope you've all had a good Good Friday.

I've probably eaten too much but it was all GOOD FOOD so doesn't count!

Homemade bread, home cooked ham, homemade pease pudding, egg and potato salad (using our own eggs), green salad (cucumber, lettuce, avocado) and a Fairtrade chocolate nest the children made yesterday with a 'Divine' Fairtrade easter egg in the middle.

WideWebWitch · 22/03/2008 08:29

Hello all, thank you for all congrats!

L&S are you still here or have you got a baby yet?

Batters, will check out those trainers, def need new ones, mine are ancient

wow at gas canister, is your dh a bomb disposal person then?

Ts, that sounds lovely food.

Yesterday:

2 pieces of toast and coffee, brought to me in bed by ds and dd, it is SO lovely that they are now old enough to go downstairs on their own AND bring us breakfast, we've waited 10 long years but it was worth it. Although they squabbled this morning so hence I'm up. But hey, 8am still aint bad!

lunch was
baby potatoes roasted with garlic and rosemary
puy lentils with olive oil/lemon juce dressing and crumbled feta
carrot sticks and hummus
rocket with caesar salad dressing
quails eggs
beetroot
a spring roll (incongruous but I cooked them because fussy ds won't eat other stuff above)
several cloves of garlic roasted and spread on triangles of toast or squashed against a roast potato

then a hot dog in front of Freaky Friday (have seen before but funnier than I remember)
then a smoked salmons sandwich and Prosecco
bed at 11pm
very happy day, spent lots of time with children and lolling in bath where I did toenails, body scrub, body butter all over, eyebrows, the lot so felt very pampered by the end of it

and omg, it's just started snowing, how lovely!

LoveAndSqualor · 22/03/2008 08:32

Hello all,

well, I am stiiiiiiill heeeeeeeere - had lobster and champagne last night, in the end, and only discernible effect was DP and I both waking in the night and feeling a bit sick! Very odd, loath to blame the lobster, who was a fine fellow; wondering if it could've been coincidence or the eggs we had for lunch ...

Anyway, had a good day yesterday - went for a lovely swim in the morning and a waddle walk around the park, then spent most of the afternoon napping on the sofa while DP did tidying and hanging pictures and so forth. Grizzly weather today, so probably no park, but perhaps another swim, and I have a massage booked for 2pm (planning to beg massage lady to apply maximum pressure to all giving-birth points on body ).

Sounds like everyone has had good work news - well done! Saggar, enjoy the easter holidays, you deserve them after being Ofsted-ed. Your DH's job sounds extremely dramatic!

tshell, pease pudding, mmmm - are you from the north-east, then? No one I know down south is aware of the joys of pease pud ...

Have great easter Saturdays, everyone

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 22/03/2008 09:08

Happy Easter! Got waylaid mid post yesterday by the arrival of relatives.

L&S - my ds2's arrival was expedited by ds1 jumping on the sofa and headbutting the bump! He arrived pretty quickly after that - obviously wishing to jun in the fun. Not suggesting that anyone should headbutt your bump but perhaps you could try bouncing on the sofa!

www - oh no - he's your friendly local firefighter. Bomb disposal would push me over the edge!

Had good bootcamp day yesterday - ran for 45 minutes before the weather turned; have run out of flexitol though.
