Hi, thinking of this - I’m 5 ft 4 and big boobs w small waist - usually a 10 or 12. It’s online only - do you think it would be very voluminous? And what’s the quality like w Nobody’s Child? https://www.marksandspencer.com/cord-v-neck-button-through-midaxi-tea-dress/p/clp22581426#intid=pid_pg1pip48g2r18c2|prodflag_New

I'm surprised to find myself saying that I really like that!

Yes the sleeves are a bit wider than I'd choose, but they're not excessively weird.

Jellycats4life · 01/12/2023 08:57

I have a few Nobody’s Child dresses and the quality is decent. I personally struggle with big sleeves though. I always feel like they’re wearing me.

Gingeri · 01/12/2023 08:59

I really like it

PenelopePlant · 01/12/2023 09:08

Love it! Definitely something I'd wear. I have sleeves like this on a few dresses and pull the wrist up and under to make the sleeves 3/4 length

Morechocmorechoc · 01/12/2023 09:09

It doesn't look like it hangs well from behind though.

cheezncrackers · 01/12/2023 09:11

I think it's okay as long as you don't want to wear anything over it, apart from maybe a big coat. It's so baggy that a cardigan would look awful. I do wonder though if, at 5'4" and with big boobs it might not be terribly flattering? I'm the same size as you and find that fitted styles are more flattering that baggy ones, which make me look bulky. I'd try it on with the footwear you'd wear with it and see how it looks.

ImTheGoat · 01/12/2023 09:12

It's nice but a bit oversized for petite me plus it looks like it would really pick up lint - for example, look at the 4th picture along. It's got bits of lint all over it just from the photography studio!

Cotswoldmama · 01/12/2023 09:17

Love it, but I always find their sizes generous. Definitely size down especially if you're small busted.

DuchessOfSausage · 01/12/2023 09:18

It's nice but looks big on the model, who is probably 5'10", size 8 and with a boyish figure. I don't think it will suit you.

ShyTed · 01/12/2023 09:22

im 5ft 3, size 10/12 also and personally for me it would be a no.
big puffy sleeves make me look wide. And I also think it’s too long

sillnotseal · 01/12/2023 09:22

You will need a very strong vertical line to pull that off, which I’m guessing you don’t have as how you describe your figure suggests you are more curvy and booby.

I think it will look costume-y and too voluminous straight off the rack.

it’s a lovely dress. Order it and see what it’s like, but if you are keen I think the fabric will swamp you.

pizzaHeart · 01/12/2023 09:24

I think it will be very long on you, much longer than on the model. Also it looks quite generous on the bottom part, it’s especially noticeable from behind. Gives me a vibe of medieval women clothes.

lollo8 · 01/12/2023 09:25

Oooof no. Not at 5ft 4, sorry. It doesn't even look good on the model, who is probably 5ft 8+. And the style is extremely frumpy.

dottiedodah · 01/12/2023 09:27

I think it looks big and maybe will drown you .Maybe order with a view of sending it back ? It may look better of course ,but these dresses dont seem to have much shape to them

DarkAcademia · 01/12/2023 09:28

I like it because it's Green! Needlecord! Midaxi! All lovely things. but that shape on me makes me look pregnant, so the & Other Stories blue velvet dress I have with that cut at the chest/sternum/upper waist remains sadly in the wardrobe. BUT I have very small boobs? Perhaps if you have big boobs it would push it out more in the front and you wouldn't get the pregnant effect? I feel it might swamp one, generally, though.

NotFastButFurious · 01/12/2023 09:34

I'm not sure where you'll put big boobs in that dress! Too much fabric for someone who's 5ft 4 i think.

AllisColm · 01/12/2023 09:37

The problem with cord is that it sticks out and doesn't flow. I suspect it may be too much fabric.

Luckingfovely · 01/12/2023 09:38

It's really terrible - not flattering on the model - will be laughable on a regular woman with boobs.

They have managed to make it look passable on the model in the first pic. From behind the proportions look like a school girl dressing up.

The purple one linked above is a far better choice.

HippeePrincess · 01/12/2023 09:39

I love it but I think it would swamp you. The length is 130cm from shoulder to hem in the size 12 and you’re what 160cm total height so if you include your head and neck it’d be floor length, plus the volume?

EvelynBeatrice · 01/12/2023 09:43

All that really matters is whether you like it.
Im a similar height and weight - no large boobs unfortunately! I wouldn’t go for it as it would swamp me and I find this cut very unflattering. I did spot a gorgeous looking purple cord dress on Roman Originals - that one was above the knee so wouldn’t swamp you plus 100 per cent cotton I think.

MillicentMaybe · 01/12/2023 09:46

I think it’s hideous on the model and can’t imagine any shape that it would flatter.
