Do you go to a salon on a regular basis and get acrylic extensions or gel overlays?
Or do you just have natural nails?

BIAB is £52 round here. I've just looked.

So how much is that a year?

Getting on for £1000 a year?

Over 30 years?

40?

Shock

Wow. I pay around £30 depending on what I want. I tend to just have one colour but it does get more expensive for multiple colours/designs. I won't pay more than £40 and that would have to be a special occasion. I'm not always buying clothes or getting eyebrows done etc

Nope, the UV from the lamps freaks me out. I have had gels done a few times but I don't feel like it's worth the possible risk.

I do usually wear polish, but accept it will only last 2-3 days.

That's why I have SNS instead, don't like all that UV!

Ibizafun · 21/09/2023 17:39

Every 2 weeks but having a break as think nails need to breathe

JaneJeffer · 21/09/2023 17:45

No but maybe I should because my nails have gone to pot.

angieloumc · 21/09/2023 17:49

I have shellac done every few weeks, as a pp said it stops me biting them. Usually get a light colour with a little bit of glitter at the top as I find the glitter shellac is stronger than normal for some reason so prevents them breaking.

dontforgetme · 21/09/2023 17:58

Yes, I have my fingers and toes done every 3-4 weeks. It makes me happy.

dontforgetme · 21/09/2023 17:59

Mine is £35 for fingers and toes.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 21/09/2023 18:05

I have natural nails. I put nail varnish on them maybe twice or three times a year on special occasions if I can be arsed. I've had a manicure once (just normal nail polish) for my wedding. I don't really like the look of gel nails and wouldn't consider spending regular money on something like that.

Meadowfly · 21/09/2023 18:07

No, waste of money, health risk and they always look weirdly thick and fake.

Mine is £35 for fingers and toes.

crazy cheap

SkaneTos · 21/09/2023 18:13

No.
Beacuse of my job in the elderly care.

TheChosenTwo · 21/09/2023 18:27

I just paint mine myself, can’t be bothered going to a nail bar regularly and don’t want anything sticking on my nails ruining them.
I do mine once a week just using normal varnish and use seche vite top coat for a speedy drying shiny finish.

FreshStart12345 · 21/09/2023 18:32

Acrylics every 3 months weeks at £25. I also get my lashes done every 3 weeks at £22. These two things just make me feel more put together and for me, they improve my mental health, and that is priceless.

FreshStart12345 · 21/09/2023 18:33

That was meant to say acrylics every 3 weeks, not months. Gosh the infills would be crazy if left for 3 months

Ginger1982 · 21/09/2023 18:33

Gel nails every 3 weeks.

lightningbanana · 21/09/2023 18:38

I do my own. Used to go to a salon every two weeks and then during Covid they sent out small kits to keep our nails in good condition until we could go again. They even did a series of tutorial videos to help. Well it worked so well that I've never been back! I used to spend around £70 a month on my nails and now spend around £10 (that's mainly on new colours that I don't actually need...)

Studswagger · 21/09/2023 18:41

Yep- I have my acrylics every other week. They are long and pointy and obviously not real but I love them 🙂!

allfurcoatnoknickers · 21/09/2023 18:43

I switch back and forth between gels and nude, natural nails with a nail concealer. I keep them short and round or almond shaped.

NonMiDispiace · 21/09/2023 18:48

I had gel finger nails a couple of times but they wrecked my nails both times and it took months to sort them out . I currently have gel toenails and they’re fine, it’s my fingers that react so badly for some odd reason.

Itsalldramarama · 21/09/2023 18:49

Pink and white ombré acrylics once a month , makes me feel good even if the rest of me looks like a bag lady ! 30£ for infills , 40£ for a new set every 3 months or so , tried builder gel but went back to acrylic , I don't colour my hair anymore , I embrace the grey and cut it myself so save ££££ there

Do you have your nails done?
OnAFrolicOfMyOwn · 21/09/2023 18:51

No. I hate anything being done to my nails other than using a nail-clipper on myself - nail files make me shudder, and the feel of nail varnish is horrible. I also dislike the look of long nails on others, whether natural or acrylic. I clip my nails once-weekly in the bath, usually on a Sunday, and that is the sum total of my nail routine.

Or do you just have natural nails?

Why do you ask?

Glasgowgal200 · 21/09/2023 18:52

Depends - i uually go to salon 2/3 times a year to either get just gel nails or acrlic extensions - though i take them off at home. I also have gel nail kit at home and sometimes do them myself, or i just put on normal nail polish.

BeretRaspberry · 21/09/2023 18:52

I had my nails done for years with acrylics, then switched to gel polish after a length break. My nails were an absolute wreck with gel polish so I got them removed, started taking care of them and they’re so much better. Now I use Dior Glow or just have them natural.

Glasgowgal200 · 21/09/2023 18:53

though i am terrible at doing my own gel etc nails - always looks so bad afterwards!!!!
