Do you go to a salon on a regular basis and get acrylic extensions or gel overlays?
Or do you just have natural nails?

Yep every 3 weeks

stayflufft · 21/09/2023 16:28

No. Never have and don’t think I ever will. My own nails are fine and OPI makes them look great (when I can be fussed to paint them). If they make you feel good, go for it, but I’d rather spend my money on make-up or a haircut every 6 weeks.

BIAB every 3 weeks. I only ever used to get nails done for holidays, weddings etc. but have been doing it regually since May and will never look back. Makes such a difference having nice nails all the time i think and its my one little treat :)

boymama82 · 21/09/2023 16:31

I have builder gel every 4 weeks now, only started 4 months ago but I know I'll now always have them done, I LOVE them! Hands feel so pretty

verdantverdure · 21/09/2023 16:32

I'm regretful over spending so much money getting my hair highlighted regularly for decades so I'm just grateful I didn't have a nail habit as well.

With compound interest I would have tens of thousands in the back now if I had saved that money instead.

Tarkan · 21/09/2023 16:32

I used to all the time then didn't go for ages and it was only after having them done again in July for a wedding that I realised how much I enjoy having my nails done so I've started going every month.

I just have gel ones and my nails were growing to a lovely length by themselves but I had an incident with a cardboard box and my right pointer finger has broken right down now and my next appointment is a week today.

verdantverdure · 21/09/2023 16:36

BIAB is £52 round here. I've just looked.

So how much is that a year?

Getting on for £1000 a year?

Over 30 years?

40?

Shock

Biab every 3 weeks. Tried to wean myself off it for cost reasons but I feel so undressed without my nails done!

I pay £30 for a full set of BIABs... it's not cheap but I don't drink so it's my treat.

Zola1 · 21/09/2023 16:38

I have BIAB with French, every 4 weeksish

Mine is £22 🤷‍♀️

verdantverdure · 21/09/2023 16:41

So just the equivalent of a new car or kitchen with interest over decades but not a whole flat?

whatsinanameeh · 21/09/2023 16:41

I get acrylics done every three weeks, between 30 and £40 depending on style

I get my hair cut once a year , we all have our priorities and preferences 😁 I am due tomorrow, I can't decide a colour

Dollmeup · 21/09/2023 16:43

Nope, natural nails. I got gel nails once for a wedding and they looked great but my nails were a bit of a mess after removing them.

FlyingUnicornWings · 21/09/2023 16:44

Acrylics with French for me. I love them.

eandz13 · 21/09/2023 16:53

I had my nails done every 3 weeks for about 15 years (whether at a salon or DIY gel extensions) until I developed an allergy out of the blue.
I use good quality press ons now and honestly I don't know why the fuck I wasted so much of my time or money, they look exactly the same and last as long with the right prep.

AndIKnewYouMeantIt · 21/09/2023 16:53

I do my own gel polish on natural nails. I bought a lamp last year. Not all the time though - maybe one go a month which lasts 10 days. Inbetween I paint on clear polish to stop them breaking.

SoRainbowRhythms · 21/09/2023 16:54

SNS on my natural nails every 2/3 weeks.

NatashaDancing · 21/09/2023 16:55

Never have and no interest.

PeacockHat · 21/09/2023 17:21

I have BIAB every 3 weeks. My nails are weak and peel easily and even gel polish didn't last.
BIAB is incredible, and I enjoy having neat and tidy nails rather than raggy weak ones that I was embarrassed by.

Uggtrending · 21/09/2023 17:22

Shellac toes £15 it's the best money i spend it lasts months too!

Findyourneutralspace · 21/09/2023 17:23

I used to but cost of living means I can’t afford it any more. I just paint my own now and they are nowhere near as good.

PenelopeTheShroudWeaver · 21/09/2023 17:27

Occasionally I get a gel manicure but I can't make it last more than 3 or 4 days.

I just haven't got the time or budget to get them done every week

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 21/09/2023 17:27

I get mine done every 4 weeks. BIAB and shellac. I left them for a bit but they were awful, breaking and peeling. I don't like them really long though so I always get them chopped.

SnapdragonToadflax · 21/09/2023 17:30

Nope, the UV from the lamps freaks me out. I have had gels done a few times but I don't feel like it's worth the possible risk.

I do usually wear polish, but accept it will only last 2-3 days.
