What ‘perfect’ version of an item have you given up on?

For me it’s the perfect Bretton stripe cardigan and jumper.

All of this is caveated with "Within my budget".

Genuinely comfortable footwear that looks good.
A navy heavy cotton jumper to replace a Uniqlo one.
Stylish and effective rainwear.
A striped t-shirt that fits properly.

LaCerbiatta · 28/08/2023 09:00

A white t shirt with the perfect weight, neckline and fit 🙁

And if anyone suggests again the cos / arket ones as perfect, I'm going to cry! The boxy cut and high neck look terrible on me .

Wednesdaysotherchild · 28/08/2023 09:10

Husband.

Smart flat work shoe that is comfy, fits wide feet and is vegan.

BanLeavesandApples · 28/08/2023 09:12

Black leather work loafers that fit my stupid feet. My budget is fairly good but I can’t find any that are comfortable.

iamthattree · 28/08/2023 15:11

Work shoes that are smart, comfortable, go with things and fit my wide hobbit feet properly plus are just a tiny bit funky.

The right lipstick - brightening without being too bright, fairly long lasting and a nice texture

Stoic123 · 28/08/2023 15:22

A navy donkey style jacket (to replace a very old Boden moleskin casual jacket).

AtomicBlondeRose · 28/08/2023 15:24

@LaCerbiatta I agree! Scoop neck white t-shirts with a non-frumpy sleeve length and in a thick material just do not exist, I’m sure.

Ihateboris · 28/08/2023 15:28

Over the knee boots that dont slip down when walking, and aren't too wide at the top!

Leafcrackle · 28/08/2023 15:28

A breathable raincoat with decently long sleeves and a hood that covers my head. Like a jedi hood.

Fake tan.

Thick, v neck jumper.

AtrociousCircumstance · 28/08/2023 15:31

The perfect mid-brown leather shoulder bag - a decent size, relaxed, gorgeous.

Scousemousey · 28/08/2023 15:31

Everyday handbag. Roomy, but not too big. Shoulder, but can do cross body. Leather, but as light as possible. Casual, but not too casual. Slouchy, but not too sloppy-looking. 🙈 Probs doesn't exist.

stayathomer · 28/08/2023 15:32

Lbd. Used to have two, one informal, knee length, congee, semi wrap around, short sleeves but long enough. The other was a going out dress, very pretty, straight under neck, knee length, so flattering. Both did me well for years and years now over worn and shabby. Still haven’t found anything even close

stayathomer · 28/08/2023 15:33

Scousemousey

Looking for something similar. I’ll add bonus points if there’s pockets but I do still want it slouchy enough to not have the zip really!

smokingcarriageonly · 28/08/2023 15:35

Waterproof trench for less than £300. In days of yore the past trench coat = bog standard trench style raincoat but now it describes the style alone.

Scousemousey · 28/08/2023 15:37

Well I do need a zip/secure fastening as I have a talent for dropping bags and having my stuff rolling all over the floor. 🙉

Traceyislivid · 28/08/2023 15:37

I second the raincoat with Jedi hood. What’s the point in a hood that covers your hair as your face gets lashed on

AtrociousCircumstance · 28/08/2023 15:40

@Scousemousey snap!

whatt2do · 28/08/2023 15:41

Adding to the dream handbag... Lining, ideally in something beautiful but not garish, not black/dark so you can't see anything but not so light it's filthy within minutes.

Roosmarjin · 28/08/2023 15:46

Shoes. Just everyday type shoes. But almost every brand stops doing velcro after size 2.5.

Scousemousey · 28/08/2023 15:48

I've got my eye on a handbag on Fat Face's website, but it isn't in my local store yet. It looks lovely, but they do tend to be heavy.

Dontcallmescarface · 28/08/2023 15:52

Glasses frames. After 40 years of wearing glasses I have still yet to find a style/frame to suit me. Now I'm wearing varifocals it's worse as the bigger the frame the worse it looks.

Pebblesflintstoneandbambamrubble · 28/08/2023 16:06

Coat

Warm, hood that stays in some kind of place, fitted without making me look like I've gained 5 stone-roomy enough to wear more than a tee shirt underneath, not black with a gorgeous lining and pretty buttons

Must keep me warm, dry and the perfect length-knee length ish

Not asking for much!

Lipstick - try Dior in the black case. Gorgeous colours, long lasting and lovely

A breathable raincoat with decently long sleeves and a hood that covers my head. Like a jedi hood.

Fake tan.

Thick, v neck jumper.

Coat - Uniqlo waterproof, decent hood on it, don't overheat.

Fake tan - aldi mousse. Not patchy lovely colour, doesn't stain bedding.
