What ‘perfect’ version of an item have you given up on?

For me it’s the perfect Bretton stripe cardigan and jumper.

Buy a cheaper one and wash it with waterproofing fluid. It helps then repel dirt too. I've got a really nice one from H&M that's now waterproof

This is the best I’ve ever found. Unfortunately it’s not cheap.

Lancôme Hypnose is very non-clumpy.

The perfect mid-grey, nice quality, long enough, soft, natural fabric v-neck t-shirt. And the same for a dusty pink one. I have some that are almost there, but something's always not quite right. I wouldn't say I've given up the search though. I've been on this quest for decades!

In winter my search switches to the perfect brownish grey wool jumper...

These things are boring but I actually do have more interesting and colourful things that I love. It's the basics where it's hard to find the perfect one.

It was the perfect colour, felt and smelt so nice, and I just can't find anything like it. I love l'occitane but they are buggers for discontinuing things.

Hi, they look nice! how is their sizing? I'm around 5 ft and wear size 6 in Boden. I've noticed they only go down to an 8.. thanks

Knickers that don't slip under a c-section pooch. No matter how big the pants, how many sizes I go up, it all ends up wiggling down and making it look so much worse.

Leopard print or metallic flat shoes. All my work stuff is plain separates or dresses so would really like to make it interesting somehow, but cannot find pointed COMFORTABLE flats in a more interesting colour/print anywhere but Shein!

I sadly can't help with anything else on your list but on the converse front have you tried their comme des garçons play ones. The insole is much thicker and spongier like memory foam (should be for the extra money). I've had mine for 2 years, they wash up like new on a delicate cycle and have comfortably taken me round several walking heavy city breaks while looking good with everything.

I found this one perfect - it's out of stock at the moment (so maybe everyone agrees). Close-fitting but not too tight, flattering neckline and sleeve length.

@Bedofroses85 I wear an 8 or a 10 depending on the brand, I don't have anything from boden so not sure how it might compare. But I have size 10 t shirts from rapanui and I like the fit on me. I also have the crew neck one and it's lovely too, in fact I prefer it to the scoop neck

A black elbow sleeved, tiered, v neck maxi dress in viscose or very thin cotton.
The plainest, most simple shape and I can't find one.
Every year I buy all the black maxi dresses on the high street and there's something off with all of them.
It's all jersey and puffed sleeves and either midi length or dragging on the floor.

Proper knitwear-I mean really proper knitwear. High quality, wool, no bobbles, from a shop where they don't tell you that wool always bobbles, even if you've never yet washed it, and paid a fortune for it. Don't tell me it can't be done-it always used to be done!
Nice heavy jumpers, like those I used to have, and which I remember so fondly. And cashmere cardigans which are light yet strong, and resistant to becoming holey within months. Sigh.

Platform Converse are much squishier and more supportive than the originals.

A flattering white linen shirt that is not see through. It should have shoulders in the right place, a feminine neckline, nice length and no stupid pockets stuck on the front.

Navy wool coat. Simple, not much tailoring, relaxed but not too relaxed. Either just above the knee or slightly below it. Been after it for years.

For the people wanting a Jedi rain coat, I have one from Finisterre with a massive hood, it’s amazing. I love chucking it on for a dog walk before work. Hair and makeup remains perfect despite drizzle, rain or wind.
