So, I like the idea of this tea dress, but what is with that gap between the boobs thing - what goes there?

I need to find something affordable to wear to an evening event type thing. I would quite like to wear a nice dress. But not too eveningy or floaty or anything - just nice.

And this tea dress is ok shape but i'm alarmed by the big gap thing between the breasts [http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId =19551&storeId=12556&productId=624224&langId=-1&categoryId=&parentcategoryrn= what's that all about?]

Can anyone find a nicer one, but not too expensive? Please?

that would be where your cleavage goes love

dusted with glitter?

JackieNo · 29/02/2008 17:45

There's no way you could wear a bra under that Top Shop one, could you - with the slashed back, iyswim.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 29/02/2008 17:46

And the slash back boco !

If no slash back I would say a rreally good push up bra, and hello boys with your cleavage, but you might see the back of the bra.

Hmm

Let me have a think

FrannyandZooey · 29/02/2008 17:46

'slash back' - what does that mean?

IMO it is a bit dull and not snazzy enough. I bet you would look fab in it, but can't you wear something a bit glammer or prettier?

(is it for THE do?)

ooh - i tried that on today! I didn't notice the boob-gap when the dress was on the hanger.

my word, I looked a sight.

mazzystar · 29/02/2008 17:47

little silky camisole? its tricksy isn't it - the shape is v nice but maybe the hole at the back is more of an issue

i was considering this one but more for everyday

FrannyandZooey · 29/02/2008 17:47

cross posts
would one of those doodah round your waist bras work?

and who says Boco NEEDS a bra to wear that dress

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 29/02/2008 17:51

I'd buy it and stich up the boob slash.

Boco · 29/02/2008 17:52

Oh cripes I didn't even notice the slash back - I'm sure tea dresses aren't supposed to have slashes all over the place are they? They're supposed to look all 40's and ...nice!

Ok, I'm up for something prettier and snazzier, but what?

Quite like the giselle tall one - but might look like a great auntie. Fine line between that nice girl dress and sunday school teacher. I'd like snazzy but not too much.

Yes franny THE do!
And as i've got to go on my own I don't want to stand out as a freak, would like to just look effortlessly quite stylish and still feel comfortable.

So, not too many demands there.

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/02/2008 17:53

You will need tits of a 19 year old to wear that dress. There is no way you could wear a bra. You could have those sticky on thingies, but frankly every time I have worn those I have been terrified that they would fall off, and I would have to pick the thing up and stuff it in my handbag .

I think it would be a very awkward dress to wear, think that gap may gape alarmingly when you sit down.

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/02/2008 17:54

I saw a lovely red tea dress thing in a magazine yesterday. Sure was New Look so cheap cheap cheap. Hang on will look.

DualCycloneCod · 29/02/2008 17:57

no gash

Boco · 29/02/2008 17:58

No I don't want to do anything too breasty - that back thing was a shock, good job you pointed it out, I will be wearing a bra.

Top shop is about the right budget though. Well Primark budget, but I want Hobbes quality ok?

Event is an exhibition with my artistic heroes, am supposed to do 'networking' so don't want to worry about boobs poking through holes or anything.

is this nice, or a bit RE teacher?
