So, I like the idea of this tea dress, but what is with that gap between the boobs thing - what goes there?

I need to find something affordable to wear to an evening event type thing. I would quite like to wear a nice dress. But not too eveningy or floaty or anything - just nice.

And this tea dress is ok shape but i'm alarmed by the big gap thing between the breasts [http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId =19551&storeId=12556&productId=624224&langId=-1&categoryId=&parentcategoryrn= what's that all about?]

Can anyone find a nicer one, but not too expensive? Please?

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/02/2008 18:41

did anyone see a picture of Jo Whiley at the Brits (yes, she is an annoying ratbag but v stylish). She had on what looked like a plainish black dress, but with brilliant bright blue high heels. Looked amazing and not too try hard. Will try to look for the pic.

PrincessHunker · 29/02/2008 18:44

God, I loathe Jo Whiley.

S'all about the new bandz, innit, with her.

BoysOnToast · 29/02/2008 18:44

my sister wears interesting shoes all the time. shes very sophisticated and cool. not like me.

PrincessHunker · 29/02/2008 18:45

No, Cod, these are

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/02/2008 18:45

can't find pic, but is in Grazia. Point was trying to make though is that black dresses don;t have to look boring, you can accessorize them to look amazing, and you won't feel as conspicuous as in the red dress.

I would wear something more flamboyant if I was going with dp or a friend, but no matter how confident you are you don't want to feel too stand-out of you are going to a party on your own.

Whiz that daphne dress is a tenner! And nice style too, like the flower bit - but they don't seem to have any for sale.

Yes, blue shoes, i really like that idea! I have pink shoes but open toed and burgundy but too high. Blue. Like that.

I saw a gorgeous young thing sashaying down the road in a fitted black swishy coat, fab black-tight encased legs and killer olive green heels

I was rather taken for a brief moment

then DD scooted into my boot and I realised that my kids would take out the heels in a second

FrannyandZooey · 29/02/2008 18:51

ooh which reminds me I need new shoes
flat ones though but interesting
will do thread later in hope of luring people from here

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/02/2008 18:51

Where have all the nice shoes gone?

Have been looking for blue shoes on New Look, Faith, Shelleys and Barrats and they are all bloody disgusting!

Very disappointed with new look - I am a fan of their shoes (cool - well, usually, cheap as chips, do loads of size 9s and the most comfy high heels ever)
