So, I like the idea of this tea dress, but what is with that gap between the boobs thing - what goes there?

I need to find something affordable to wear to an evening event type thing. I would quite like to wear a nice dress. But not too eveningy or floaty or anything - just nice.

And this tea dress is ok shape but i'm alarmed by the big gap thing between the breasts [http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId =19551&storeId=12556&productId=624224&langId=-1&categoryId=&parentcategoryrn= what's that all about?]

Can anyone find a nicer one, but not too expensive? Please?

DualCycloneCod · 29/02/2008 18:30

i present you the sequinned corssage( very posh sequinnery and nice na FLAT) to use

also oyu can get intersting shoes

PPh once lectured me ont he intersting shoes theory. and its all treu

i haev lots of barely worn intersting hsoes.

soapbox · 29/02/2008 18:31

I'd go with black too, if it is an art exhibition or show.

With impeccable grooming, careful accessories - you will look stunning!

Boco · 29/02/2008 18:32

Damnit I'm a size 10.

Red dress if it suits would be lovely and flouncy and fun.

Black with some kind of interesting amendment and i'd definitely feel more comfortable and cool.

DualCycloneCod · 29/02/2008 18:33

yes that is a 12.
will lend corsage if you need it.

FrannyandZooey · 29/02/2008 18:33

there you have it

'lovely and flouncy and fun'
v.
'comfortable and cool'

whizz56 · 29/02/2008 18:33

is it going to be "arty" as in creative out there or "arty" as in rich super sophisticated?

soapbox · 29/02/2008 18:34

No you cannot do the red dress - I've had a good look at it again - it is like something from Little House on the Prarie gone wrong

You'll look like a country bumpkin if you wear that to an art thing!

DualCycloneCod · 29/02/2008 18:34

im wiht the box.

black and chic. and intersting ly accessorissed and be shoed.

aslo that black dres of mine has been used by me( and others LOADS)

whizz56 · 29/02/2008 18:34

not keen on the red dress either

Boco · 29/02/2008 18:34

God impeccable grooming could be a problem.

Yes, lend us your sequins cod!

What constitutes interesting shoes Cod?

I have some interesting expensive 40s style shoes from pre-children days of having income - but they are perfectly shiny on the bottom and every time I wear them I end up on my arse.

OP posts:
PrincessHunker · 29/02/2008 18:35

I like that Kew cardigan, Cod.

This appears to be see-through so I don't think you should wear this one.

Can you link to the red dress(es) again, please? I can't be arsed to search for them again and didn't realise they'd be so pivotal to the thread [lazy]

DualCycloneCod · 29/02/2008 18:36

go and get them soled.
hair up wiht a tiny diamond clip maybe.

fabbo cocktail ring. cna also lend.
intersting hsoes - maybe purple.

soapbox · 29/02/2008 18:36

Think of Bree from Perfect Housewives or whatever it is called.

Twiglett · 29/02/2008 18:36

are we talking the one with the layers in the skirt?

well it's not as horrific as the other red one

I like franny's demure one better

DualCycloneCod · 29/02/2008 18:36

or plain balck dress, blak shoes and coloured tights

very arty.

Boco · 29/02/2008 18:36

I think maybe I am a country bumpkin now soapbox

Well, I'm not sure it'll be that sophisticated and cool, it's children's book illustrators and authors - most of them wear Arran jumpers and sandals with socks.

Elan or Daphne LBD, very cheap (ignore the rest of the whoreish tat on the site) but leaves you more to spend on accessoires to make you feel fab
