So, I like the idea of this tea dress, but what is with that gap between the boobs thing - what goes there?

I need to find something affordable to wear to an evening event type thing. I would quite like to wear a nice dress. But not too eveningy or floaty or anything - just nice.

And this tea dress is ok shape but i'm alarmed by the big gap thing between the breasts [http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId =19551&storeId=12556&productId=624224&langId=-1&categoryId=&parentcategoryrn= what's that all about?]

Can anyone find a nicer one, but not too expensive? Please?

oh carrot - how wonderful. I am so behind on everything. Breasts healthy and firm of buttock?

I liked the boden shoes, I have HUGE size 7 feet.

Boco · 29/02/2008 21:02

Sorry I know what you mean now! loninbkfr
No, it's not, it's moved - that is what they said in first email, but not what it says on invite. It's now in Kings Cross - but don't know what venue like.

Yes, I think understated and mostly want to be comfortable.

MrsC, size 6 - I'd be shuffling like a loon in size 8s. But thank you.

Maybe the smock and beret idea was actually the best.

I have got some vaguely interesting blueish shoes in size 6
shall I photo tomorrow?

MrsCarrot · 29/02/2008 21:05

GGGRRR, size seven is not huge, BBBEE, well I just bought some Golas and butterfly flats in seven but usually I am eight.

Boco · 29/02/2008 21:05

Thanks Franny, that'd be good.

Like this borrowing shoes and sequined coursages thing.

they are prob not exciting enough but my my standards they are quite thrilling
kind of dusty blue, with a 40s type of shape

MrsCarrot · 29/02/2008 21:08

I like it too, swapping and borrowing is fun. No-one has feet as big as me usually though.

Everyone should buy those turquoise flower shoes, they are great.

Bbbee - breasts and buttocks fine, thanks for asking!

ahundredtimes · 29/02/2008 21:08

I think I have some size 6 shoes, or maybe they are 5s? But I have wide feet and you [alarming memory warning] have very thin feet don't you?

Well if not at LBF then the red dress would be good. You do want to look memorable.

I've got a big pale greenish ring as well, it would possibly go with the shoes

anyway will photograph

MrsCarrot · 29/02/2008 21:09

oops

what is lbf?

Boco · 29/02/2008 21:13

Yes, feet are quite narrow.

Thanks franny, sounds good.

Is it an illustrators do? You might see my mate.

MrsCarrot · 29/02/2008 21:16

you think narrow size 6 feet are a problem, try narrow size 8 feet. Canoes I tell you, canoes appear in the arms of a store assistant when you say fetch me those nice shoes.

Boco · 29/02/2008 21:17

did you once tell me who that was? Who is that?

Boco · 29/02/2008 21:17

Lol MrsC, you have a good centre of gravity, bet you don't fall over hardly ever.

Christian Birmingham - shared a flat with him for 5 years. Still one of my bestest mates, I'm seeing him tomorrow for a birthday lunch.

He is a very clever man.

Boco · 29/02/2008 21:22

Oh I remember now!

Boco. I have for some reason looked at all the dresses and advice on the thread. It has taken me the best part of the evening. Most of which has been spent cringing.

Not knowing your figure, I would advise you - it's trinny and susannah. The recommended options look like chalk and cheese to me.

Large boobs - go for either the scooped neck versions or the keyhole ones. Any type especially wrap over - will look great.

Small boobs - go for the ruffled frills option, or higher necked tunic top.

and remember the adage "Red shoes, no knickers" so to add mystery, wear red shoes.

hope it works out.

MehgaLegs · 29/02/2008 21:38

40s sort of tea dressish but maybe a bit ££.

Cloudhopper · 29/02/2008 21:42

My god I sounded like a bitch - apologies.

All I meant to say was that you would definitely go along with cod's advice if you were very petite. Or low cut, wrap around type stuff if you were larger.

Boco · 29/02/2008 21:48

Oh CH I don't know. I'm not huge norked at all. You can see on my profile my frame. I am wearing a wrap around there and i like it, but not got very big boobs.

Alright Cod?

You're up a bit late...

I am liking the idea of shoes being the mystique for a otherwise meh dress.

Not that the cop out one is actually, I like it.
