Gold hoop earrings - tacky or classy

I've got about £100 to spend and was thinking about gold hoop earrings because I thought that they are timeless but at the same time I think they could be tacky! Anyone got any nice ones?

I often have the same dilemma. I think it really depends on what you're wearing and how big/thick the hoops are.

What about silver hoops?

With a fake juicy couture tracksuit - tacky
Generally smart and in decent quality clothes - fine

purplecorkheart · 15/08/2023 11:52

I think that they tend to look tacky in most cases. However I have seen a couple of pretty small pairs on a local Solicitor. Her sister though is a jewellery designer and makes stuff for her.

I think it depends on the style of the hoops and your fashion style.

For example thin large gold hoops with leggings and Nike Air Force... tacky😂

I think small chunky hoops look more classy!
I have a pair from Cos which are lovely.

soup2poop · 15/08/2023 11:55

I think they can look lovely paired with the right outfit. These are nice gold hoops

Very 1990s.

I like the bit I hate the smaller ones with a passion and the thick medium sized ones! I think they need to be quite slim and big but not TOO big.

Earrings make such a big difference to your face! The small and medium ones just make people look frumpy (I know MN hates that word but I can’t think of a better one).

Bloody love a gold hoop, the bigger the better - but then tbf no-one has ever described me as classy....

Missoma have some lovely ones

TwilightSkies · 15/08/2023 13:00

I love them, all sizes.

Xrays · 15/08/2023 13:04

I quite like them but I’d never spend much on plain gold ones, you can get the cheapest ones from asos or Tesco or whatever and no one will be able to tell the difference unless you literally take them off for them to inspect.

No never classy
Even rich people wearing a really expensive pair just look a bit footballers wives

Fallingthroughclouds · 15/08/2023 13:10

Yep, just wear what you want and don't worry about being classy.

bingojuice · 15/08/2023 13:12

@Amethys yeah 20 years ago! No travellers wearing hoops now.

Marcipex · 15/08/2023 13:12

No, they are the opposite of classy imo, but wear what you like.

ActDottie · 15/08/2023 13:12

I think huggie hoops are lovely but the larger hoops I do think are chavvy
