So I bought a new dress yesterday and have been stopped at work and in shops to ask where I got it, its really flattering and a lovely colour so if anyone is looking for a new dress I'd highly recommend this one 😃Floral Square Neck Midi Smock Dress

Floral Square Neck Midi Smock Dress

With its striking floral print, this dress offers a stylish choice for daywear. It's cut in a comfy regular fit, with a flattering square neckline and short sleeves to make it ideal for warmer weather. All-over smocking gives a figure-hugging shape thr...

I think it's lovely, but I wish it were cotton!

Same here.

SayHi · 23/06/2023 12:59

This is lovely, I especially love the colour.

I work with teenage boys and want something cool to wear in the heat without it being too tight fitting or showing too much skin.

All the dresses I find are sleeveless, too short or accentuates my curves too much and are too inappropriate for work.
I’ll definitely give this one a go.

Thanks for sharing OP!

BitOutOfPractice · 23/06/2023 13:03

Yes I totally agree. The bottom tier on dresses has been on everything the last few years. I am SO over it (was never under it in fairness). I think it’s awful.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 23/06/2023 13:03

I bought a shirred bodice dress this summer, which is how I found out that I can't tolerate it touching my skin. I have to wear a tank top underneath.

Picklewicklepickle · 23/06/2023 13:14

So many bitchy comments 😂 Taste is individual and every body suits different styles, no need to tear down the OP.

I love the shape and would totally buy it but the colours would look hideous on me, I’m glad you’ve found a nice dress you like.

Titsolina · 23/06/2023 13:17

It's gorgeous. I'm Envy that it is out of stock in my size.

MrsCarson · 23/06/2023 13:45

I love the look of it, I'm too short to wear a dress like that.
I've been searching the Petites section of Roman and found a few really cute dresses.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 23/06/2023 09:16

It's described as a square neck. It quite clearly isn't a square neck.

That was my first thought as well.

Mariposista · 23/06/2023 13:51

It’s lovely! It’s great when you find ‘the dress’.
The dress I got the most compliments for was the one I wore to my dear Gran’s funeral (sea green - she hated black). Even the vicar asked where it was from (a lady thank goodness 😅)

KnittedCardi · 23/06/2023 13:56

I don't particularly like this because of the material. But I bloody love the current trend of shearing. I have so many tops and dresses with shearing now, as I am big of boob, but generally overall small, and with normal tops/dresses they never fit me properly because I needed to size up for the boobs, but then they are gignormous everywhere else. Long live shearing.

And yes, please, please, stop the current trend of square and shapeless. Again, if big of boob you just end up looking like a brick.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 23/06/2023 14:17

That dress looks lovely on you, OP, the colours are also great for you.

newfriend05 · 23/06/2023 14:22

This dress is everywhere, was at a small event the other week .. I saw at least 2 women wearing it

TheOrigRights · 23/06/2023 14:40

I got this Joe Browns one a couple of weeks ago, having seen it in Style and Beauty (on a jumpsuit thread). I am tall and slim and tend to get a bit swamped by styles such as the OP is loving (all the sleeves and the low neck line). It has smocking and is really love on (though I'd prefer the straps to be set less far apart).

Those colours are lovely on you, OP. It's hard to see how the whole dress looks, but from we can see, it looks great.

Enjoy the compliments Smile

TheOrigRights · 23/06/2023 14:43

Oh and I've only fallen up the stairs once (wearing the Joe Browns dress)

HappiDaze · 23/06/2023 14:48

I'm surprised at people saying they think cotton is less sweaty than Viscose.

I find viscose. being a natural fibre, is far cooler than cotton because it's lighter and thinner.

cotton holds on to sweat more so stays wet as opposed to Viscose which dries out more quickly.

Meerkitkat · 23/06/2023 11:12

Isn't it just? Are you sure people weren't just being nice op?!

Well at least you're in no danger of that eh?

JamSandle · 23/06/2023 14:56

I don't like it but I'm not a fan if these types of dresses.

HappiDaze · 23/06/2023 14:57

I have a mixture of linen, cotton, silk and Viscose summer clothing.

Viscose is by the far the best for those really hot sweaty humid days.

Archeron · 23/06/2023 14:58

Sorry, I’m with those who wear natural fibres only. Viscose is just a no, regardless of what the item looks like.

The neck is not square either!

MmaRra · 23/06/2023 15:04

I like the look of it but I don't like viscose.

MidnightMeltdown · 23/06/2023 15:09

Nice colours but I don't like the big blobby print personally

I'm the same, big boobs but small waist, legs, hips. The cut of a lot of dresses makes me look bigger than I am. However I don't find the smocking great across the boobs, makes them look like a big matronly shelf. I'd love suggestions for other styles, not too cleavagey though as don't like that either.

MrsSkylerWhite · 23/06/2023 09:21

Sorry, I’m clearly odd but I don’t like it. Colours are good, though.

Me too- its a gorgeous colour but its a bit shapeless and tent like. We are all different though so who cares enjoy your dress!

HappiDaze · 23/06/2023 15:31

Viscose is made of natural fibres but uses chemicals in the process

Whereas

Polyester is made of man made synthetic fibres

Polyester will make you hot, smelly and sweaty

Viscose will cool you down and wick away sweat etc
