I have wasted so much money on "comfortable" sandals

Over the years. I end up with sandals that are neither pretty/stylish nor properly comfortable by trying to get something that fit both bills.

But these are OK? I think?

I have the Fit Flop Gracies. They are great. So comfy. I could walk for miles in them (but don’t because I wear trainers for walking miles even in summer).

I now need those Hallie Office sandals (and some new Birkenstocks).

redspottedmug · 14/05/2023 22:15

If saltwater are so good why have I never seen them 'in the wild'? I live on the coast.

Anyway, my rec, which I found on MN and I'm on my 3rd pair, are by Tonga 25 by Josef Seibel - josefseibel.co.uk/products/josef-seibel-tonga-25

Padded footbed, leather lined and infinitely adjustable straps. Comfy straight out of the box.
Not too frumpy!

You feet will thank you.

DorritLittle · 14/05/2023 22:15

I really like Footglove sandals by M&S too.

Sakura03 · 14/05/2023 22:18

I like Clark’s sandals, they are so comfortable, been wearing them for years. I like the golden/silver metallic colours.

I think you need to actually go and try on lots of pairs. My thinking is out of 20 pairs 1 may actually be comfy.

Yep. I can't buy online. My arthritic feet need to try on about 20 pairs to find something comfortable.

Can I suggest Earth Spirit of Rieker?

RampantIvy · 14/05/2023 22:27

Just seen that Earth Spirit are no longer made Sad

ZenNudist · 14/05/2023 22:32

Charles clinkard are good for a range of comfy sandals. I've bought heavenly feet, gabor and other brands from there all comfy. My favourite is reiker. Very comfy if you find non elderly ones.

BumFluffBumFluff · 14/05/2023 22:33

Earth Spirit are now called Free Spirit

Artyfarty555 · 14/05/2023 22:34

I can’t wear open toed sandals and do have PF flare ups, so need arch support. Any recommendations for a closed toe sandal with arch support..please x

Yellowdays · 14/05/2023 22:34

I think those new fashion sandals and trainers with the fat soles are ugly. Unfortunately they are everywhere, and have pretty much taken over, so I see I'm in a minority.

SwishSwishBisch · 14/05/2023 22:38

OP if you like them that’s really all that matters.

Air & Grace. Not cheap but extremely comfortable and stylish.

Birkenstocks give me blisters every year but these have been amazing. I have these: https://airandgracelondon.com/collections/sandals/products/lena-leopard-suede-sandals?variant=33132407947307
but I will probably invest in another style.

These are too flat for me and don't have any arch support. I'm 9n the hunt for perfect, comfy sandals with arch support too so following this thread.

mswales · 14/05/2023 22:43

Tevas all the way. You can hike in them they're that supportive. And loads of great styles now

Grimbelina · 14/05/2023 22:46

I used to wear Birkenstocks... until I discovered the leather Teva flatform and midform sandals, just amazing and a bit more 'youthful':

Ilovealido · 14/05/2023 22:47

I second the fact that Birkenstocks are super uncomfortable. In fact I doggedly tried two separate styles in the vain hope that I was unlucky the first time. But no, they just don’t seem to mould to my feet & give me awful blisters. I’m still annoyed about it now!

I do love my saltwater sandals but not for long walks as I agree about the lack of arch support. Can anyone advice on how much more supportive the soft sole version are? I might invest. My mum swears by Fitflops but they seem expensive to me.

I came here to say Teva! I've just scanned the thread and I don't think anyone else has recommended them yet. I'm surprised, as I started a thread like this last year, and a few people recommended Teva to me..I went ahead and yes they are great. I think I'm going to buy a plain pair for work too. So comfy.

I've just been on their website and they look fab! So many different colours!

WhereAreWeNow · 14/05/2023 22:53

Gabor is a really good brand @Bluemuf . Properly well made and comfortable.
I find Fitflop sandals the most comfortable. Check out the Gracie styles.
Birkenstocks are great too. There are some nice wedge style Birkenstocks in the Papillo range.

I spotted that after I posted. The range seems much reduced now, and I didn't see anything I liked.

AnnabelC · 14/05/2023 23:01

Reiker for me too.

frankgu · 14/05/2023 23:26

DH has these. Loves them...

That's solved it then!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Thighdentitycrisis · 14/05/2023 23:28

I like the look of those Fantasy sandals. I have shallow feet must have something that can be adjusted across the toes or hold the shoe in place there So many styles seem to have just a plain strap across the front- useless for me
