I have wasted so much money on "comfortable" sandals

Over the years. I end up with sandals that are neither pretty/stylish nor properly comfortable by trying to get something that fit both bills.

But these are OK? I think?

Those Clarkes ones are lovely. My sister has DMs in several colours and thet look great with everything. She has tiny but troublesome feet and fi ds them very comfortable.

piglet879 · 14/05/2023 19:08

I have these in a few colours and absolutely love them ❤️

Saltwater sandals all day long.

PaltnSepper · 14/05/2023 19:19

Even the Gracie ones gave me blisters - there is some stitching that goes around the edge of the sole, or there used to be at least. And any time there is even the smallest amount of stitching on a strap or something, it rubs and my feet blister easily.

So you really need to find what works for you. For me Gabor is good, especially if it's suede. Generally suede works better for me on the whole. And footbeds that are not hard leather - which can cause horrific blisters when my feet twist in them as I walk - but lined with suede or some softer leather or something like that.

I hate that people probably think my shoes are all incredibly ugly and unstylish, but I need to be able to walk, and i you have fragile skin and a weird gait, there is not a huge amount of choice.

The ones you linked to also come in a blue that looks quite nice I think

These are some of the ones I have. I'd never shopped there before, but they did great blue light discount during Covid !

I've got these in red and tan (thanks, teacher discount!). They are too flat for walking very far in, for me.

Octomingo · 14/05/2023 19:25

I've given up. Karrimor all the way for me if I know I'm walking far or along a beach. The only sandals that ever really look nice are heeled ones, which we all agree are hopelessly impractical.

Saltwater sandals look so flat though which actually doesn’t look that comfortable.

OP last year I went to Venice and struggled walking in my Birkenstocks because of a niggly achilles injury that won’t go away. I ended up buying some black sandals that looked like Tevas but with a very slight wedge. They were cushioned and My God the comfort was ridiculous. They were by Sketchers which I thought was hilarious because I’ve always been very dismissive of the brand. More fool me.

Atishoos · 14/05/2023 19:34

@Octomingo Yep, Karrimor for me also. So bloody comfortable. I have yours in raspberry and black. Might get the cream ones this year. I could walk for miles in them and the adjustable straps are great for my higher instep.

GracePalmer33 · 14/05/2023 19:37

Birkenstocks are genuinely like torture devices on me.

Wexone · 14/05/2023 19:38

have you tried a brand called woden ? it's a Danish brand and use Cork based soles. they have fab sandles at the mo. another is strive. I do love birckenstocks. they take a while to break in so make sure good wear before hols. but once broken love them. have loads of colors and some can look dressy..just purchased the black patent ones after being out of stock for ages. can't wait to warr them

Wexone · 14/05/2023 19:39

ps my father has to see a foot specialist and he has specifically told him to stay away from sketchers. the support is not there at all and badlye made he says. sees so much damage from them

ladygindiva · 14/05/2023 19:39

I have these blowfish sandals, they were really cheap and 3 summers on look good as new and are comfy. They do a selection of colours if you shop around.

So envious of all those who can expose their toes!

pinkpirlie · 14/05/2023 19:43

@Bluemuf
I have very similar shoes (without the buckle and with fully white soles), I love them. They were far cheaper (less than £20 from DP sale years ago).
A lot of my friends have similar platform wedges too.

Lovemebetter · 14/05/2023 19:51

What about Toms?

Yes I have these too. Fabulous. I got mine in the sale from sports direct for £15! Total bargain.

Goodoccasionallypoor · 14/05/2023 19:54

I have saltwater softsoles which are incredibly comfortable.

Xrays · 14/05/2023 19:55

Link to the karimoor ones on sports direct - few sizes left in certain colours -

Only if I've shaved my toes and painted my toenails 🤣

Girlintheframe · 14/05/2023 20:10

Sorry Op the sandals you linked are not my cup of tea. I have a pair of Blowfish Maylie sandals which are incredibly comfy

PrimarilyParented · 14/05/2023 20:13

I love these. I have had them for years and always get complements on the pair I have, they have cushioned soles and are super comfortable. I bought my sister a pair after getting mine and loving them so much and she loved hers too.

I like the look of those Hotter tourist sandals on the Debenhams page

Im so jealous of people being comfortable in shoes. I have over 100 pairs of all different types, many 'comfort' brands and have problems with each and every pair. Ive got achillies tendonitis, I blister with virtually every shoe to mankind. Im meant to wear orthotic insoles but find that they lift my foot so far out of the shoe that I either cant get them on or cant walk in them. I have arthritis in one foot which is made worse by walking around.

I buy shoes in the hope that one day, one day I will find the perfect pair.
