WWW's six week ten year younger bootcamp, WEEK FIVE of 2008

Welcome to week 5 of the first WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2008. Hello everyone.

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Batters am VERY impressed at no booze all weekend, wow. Any particular reason? Even at Pizza Express, oh my word, I can never resist a Chianti or Pinot Grigio with my American Hot. Unless I'm driving or it's a work thing (many a work thing at PE)

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 03/02/2008 20:59

So I feel lumpen and ugly and fat and bloated and uncomfortable. I feel like a week of clear soup and apples and things.

I really have been off track this last week, MUST do Better.

moondog · 03/02/2008 21:01

It's the Wotsits wot did it.

WideWebWitch · 03/02/2008 21:07

I knew before I opened this that your comments would be Wotsits related Ms Moondog

moondog · 03/02/2008 21:30

Sorry.
I am very irritating I know.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 03/02/2008 23:48

Weekend sounds fairly successful for almost everyone!

Only 8000 steps for me today but good on everything else. Foodwise, not bad - bacon sandwich for lunch but only soup for dinner. Despite eating a whole, and very large, punnet of plums through the week, I haven't listed them on here once!? I'm currently eating a carrot and having a last big glass of water before bed.

Early night last night. But obviously not tonight.

Happiness will improve once we're all better. My planned coffee with friends tomorrow morning is looking unlikely as the girls are spluttering and dripping snot. DS1 is supposed to be bringing a friend home tomorrow after school but I'll have to cancel (again) unless he wants to catch our germs.

And my bump has gone from zero to HUMUNGOUS in less than 2 weeks. So no doubt the stretchmarks will be along any day soon...

marina · 04/02/2008 13:01

Hello hello
Good weekend diet-wise, not much booze
Cream/water yy
Exercise, um, not really
Dr Hauschka brought me out in what I can only describe as boils bk. I am sure they were organic ones but nevertheless
MUST walk more
A good week to all, am struggling a bit with the happiness malarkey but hey ho, half-term soon and quality bickering time with my offspring

Hello everyone.

I am doing ok on the exercise front, and alcohol really isn't a big thing for me (although I did drink a bottle in bed over the weekend, lol) but foooood, well that's another story.

Anyhoo...

  • Sunscreen yy
  • No booze
  • A very sluggish hour on the bike
  • Lots of weak tea
  • Apply body cream - will try to remember
  • Use hand cream yy
  • Go to bed early, was asleep by 10.15 last night, but kept waking because of this cold.
  • Eat healthily, hmm, more chocolates but other than that ok.
  • Be happy, soso. Long week workwise, lots of commitments and DH working daft shifts. Oh hum.

Have posted earlier than usual, because after cubs I'm hoping to get to bed at a sensible time, so I'm switching the computer off nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Wish me luck, lol.

PollyDolly · 04/02/2008 19:33

Hello everyone

My weekend was a disaster bootcamp wise. I was at a spa in Newcastle and did lots of walking and swimming. Regrettably that was cancelled by more food and wine than you could shake a stick at. Am deeply lardy and look like a "before" picture in all the photos. Still, back to the bootcamp today. Have eaten lots of F and V, only 1 biscuit and healthy supper planned. Happiness wise am doing well but a bit stressed over a couple of things and angsting a bit.

Duchess, I am deeply impressed by how fit and healthy you have kept thus far. My bumps came overnight, but sadly the after effects didn't go as quickly. To be just out of your 14s at over 20 weeks is impressive. Heck, I am almost out of mine and my baby is nearly 11 months!

Moisturiser - love Clarins but for cheap I would give another vote to olay.

More later

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 04/02/2008 19:34

batters - two weeks ago I still needed a belt with the famed Monsoon trousers and a week later they didn't fit. Just like Aunt Marge from the HP film!

l&S - how many weeks left to go now?

13500 steps today but very few aerobic ones. Lots of water. Lots of skin creams. Cough & cold is much better but now have toothache ffs.

I've eaten lots of fruit and a lump of cheese for breakfast/lunch and a small amount of roast chicken etc for dinner. And painkillers. Tooth hurts too much to eat.

Happiness low due to pain, the need to visit dentist and the £££s that I'll have to pay out. Grrrrrr.

WideWebWitch · 04/02/2008 21:19

Welcome Ms Bossykate We mostly chat here and I usually confess to terrible indiscretions with food and wine but hey, we do better than if we weren't posting I reckon!

Batters, ah, ok, I see, well done!

Marina, ew at organic boils and lol at quality bickering time

DofN, hope you're all better soon and we've all v impressed at only just out of your 14s at 20weeks!

well done unknwn and oo at the vision of a bottle of wine in bed, tell us more! With dh? Alone with a book? A film? Your thoughts? It sounds wonderfully decadent (the bed bit, not the bottle of wine bit, I can easily drink a bottle!)

Polly, lol at before photos, me too, I could do a Lighterlife ad atm Hope your angst improves, anything we can help with?

DofN, good steps, well done!

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 04/02/2008 21:23

Today
banana in car
toast x 2 at work, butter, Marmite
hummus and coriander sandwich
thai crisps oops
banana
kitkat
came in to home made chicken curry and rice, made by dh
am drinking wine, we are sharing a bottle so will stop at that

my fkwits have finally broken the camel's back, (anonymous letters to chief exec about my boss; letter to FIVE managers above them whining about wanting a pay rise but with NO justification!) they've moaned once too often so we're outsourcing them. Fuckers, I'm enjoying doing the business case, I know that makes me cruel but wtf, they've been VILE.

Feel cheerful despite it all, Happy Monday everyone

bundle · 04/02/2008 21:30
  • Sunscreen - erm no am opting out of this one but using plenty of Olay stuff day and night time stuff
  • booze - just finished off bottle of cava (barely a snifter) and then one of those tiny bottles of champagne, but didn't drink much at the weekend. apart from beer when went to cinema
  • Walking - probably only 20 mins
  • water - some yes. and smoothie.
  • body cream - no
  • will try to remember to put on miracle calmurid cream tonight on feet
  • Go to bed early - hope to, say 10.45/11
  • hmmm organic bolognaise with wholewheat pasta
  • feeling fairly chipper too - despite bank alerting me to potential fraud on my debit card (have cut it up!)

dds are STILL awake which is driving me mad!

bossykate · 04/02/2008 21:52

hello everyone

status report for first day:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter - yes foundation has factor 20
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it - no booze
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer - 30 mins plus today, have made apt with dodgy woman friend for walk tomorrow
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day - erm does tea count? no wait actually it is better than water because of the anti-oxidants
  • Apply body cream as often as possible - so how many times per day are we aiming for on the body cream?
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff - on track
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos - on track
  • Eat healthily - ok won't bore people with food diary here - but much, much better than it would have been last week at work - room for improvement though.
  • Be happy - well the exercise will help
bossykate · 04/02/2008 21:53

blimey www! your workplace sounds vile! get that cv updated!

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 04/02/2008 21:59

ahem, 24 weeks. Doesn't time fly etc.

MrsPhilipGlenister · 04/02/2008 22:15

Today:

Sunscreen - tick

Walking - well, haven't quite integrated walking with journey to new work yet - had a stressful 20 minute race along Old St though

Food: Granola with semi-skimmed milk
Prawn and lettuce brown bread sarnie
Pasta and pesto with oily fish and lots of rocket

Water: About 1.5 litres

Coffee: Only one, very good for me

Booze: None today and none last night either

Handcream: Yes

Bodycream: No

Feet: I know this is heresy but I am finding Scholl Heel Repair Cream better than Flexitol

Happpiness Quotient: somewhat impaired as DS3's lovely Learning Support Assistant is leaving, very abruptly, and this is only DS3's fourth week at school nursery

bamamama · 05/02/2008 02:57

WWW - hope your week of clear soup and apples is progressing well. Glad you're sorting out the fcwits at work - they do sound like a bunch or arses.

Duchess - hope the tooth is better. Toothache is just awful and all consuming! Can't believe you're at 24 weeks - time really is flying!

Marina - hope you're feeling a bit happier and eww at Dr Hauschka reaction. I got a sample of some Keihls Cryste Marine cream and it's having the same effect. Another vote for Olay here then.

Polly - glad you had a good weekend and lol at 'before' pics!

BK - apparently tea is loads better than water but only if you drink it black. I just can't drink it after lunch time as I can't sleep [old lady emotion]

Bundle - Still waiting for the new hair do picture....However I notice you have the Divine Comedy on your list of likes so in my book that makes you a Fine Person Indeed

Bootcamping ok for me although we've had two days of rain which has rather hampered my exercise. No booze until Friday and then MIL arrives from the UK so I suspect some wine will be required most days from there on in.

Hello all
Am LOLing vicariously at www's band of f'wits and thinking, hurrah, at last some people who make some of my colleagues look normal It can't be fun though, sorry www
I can't believe you are at 24 weeks either Duchess, hope your tooth is feeling better. I think the comparison with Aunt Marge is disingenuous though, non?
Bundy, I'd like to see a short hair piccy too I've had mine cut, quite nicely too, and I really did look quite Yeti-like before. Had zero flattering comments at work, thanks a lot
Sorry about the LSA leaving MrsPG, that must be a worry. How is the new job?
Loads of people are being very industrious on here and I made it happen yesterday too, with healthy eating all day, loads of water, Flexitol, a happiness-raising Jo Malone bath, and 16,000 steps, mostly at top speed to a deafening Chemical Brothers/Underworld Mix. I had forgotten I had put some ludicrously fey Scissor Sisters on the end of the playlist and nearly fell over with shock
Polly, hope the angst levels drop and bk, that the happiness quotient rises very soon
I find it hard to accept on an almost daily basis that there is so much in my life with the potential to cause chaos and worry, tbh, and I've just recently accepted that overeating is what I am (wrongly, obv. ) doing to cope with the stress. So I feel good about acknowledging that but sad that it is there IYSWIM.
Will try and take inspiration from batters and winnie who have done so well on a sustained front and not given up at the first discouragement

WideWebWitch · 05/02/2008 09:45

Hello all, I'm working from home today, yay, because all trains were cancelled. So that's FOUR hours of my life I've got back due to not commuting, hurrah!

Bk, how are you enjoying being at home? Enjoy yer walk with the dodgy woman. And quite right to be proud of no booze, we're impressed! I may go for a walk at lunch time, ooh, can stroll around the local market, how exciting. My cv is out there...although I can live with the fkwits more than I can live with the commute. Hey ho.

Bama, IL justifies wine I reckon

MrsPG, I have just joined the Gene Hunt appreciation society on Facebook, he's back this week isn't he? I am looking forward to it. WEll done on no booze and sympathy at run along Old St. I got to Euston at 18.20 and 10 seconds yesterday, which I HATE, I'd rather MISS the 18.23 than run for it and it was so close I HAD to run for it and collapsed into the last seat huffing and puffing like a train. Vile. at Scholl, really? Wow!

Bundle, well done, mine are staying awake til this time too, drives me mad as well.

dofN, 24 weeks, wow. Lovely.

So far today I have had a sausage and egg McMuffin

But high on happiness as I went to bed at 10.30 last night, slept soundly for 8 hours (after bizarre dream where loads of mumsnetters came with children to my enormous house which I don't have and created an enormous mess which I then panicked about clearing up and then found myself wandering along a motorway with a mobile phone and I didn't understand how to get it to work and it was raining - maybe fkwits are getting to me? )
