WWW's six week ten year younger bootcamp, WEEK FIVE of 2008

Welcome to week 5 of the first WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2008. Hello everyone.

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

dashing in and out but www the jo malone cologne (ooh, that rhymes) (easily pleased emoticon) is delicious. In fact, I predict that you will end up stealing most of it. Hope the cold clears up soon.

Duchess, YES! those of us up the duff should add pelvic floors as a bootcamp requirement - am filled with horror at the thought of no trampolining (not that I'm normally - or even ever - to be found bouncing up and down, you understand, but I'd like to have the option ... )

Have lovely shiny new hair, ate hummus and salad sandwich for lunch and a Twirl (and er a bar of green and black's), but have cycled in and out of town, been to the supermarket, and also purchased a darning needle so I can finally start sewing my blanket together tonight (in front of series two of House, which I just treated myself to). Pasta with anchovies and broccoli for tea, I think. House, pasta and some peaceful sewing - pretty much my perfect Saturday night at the moment. I think I have unwittingly Gotten Old.

WideWebWitch · 09/02/2008 18:11

Agree, we should add pelvic floor to bootcamp, BUT in true bootcamp fashion I don't tihnk it shoudl be too onerous so we should add to the rules:

pelvic floor: squeeze and stop mid wee every time you go.

and if you stick to the water rule you will go a lot. Sorted!

I bet I will pinch the Jo Malone, have always liked the sound of it

OP posts:
marina · 09/02/2008 19:43

The Jo Malone is lush and very unisex
In haste as have snaffled 15 minutes quiet time by letting tiny dd watch crap Primeval with big bro while dh mucks out the saucepan cupboard
Thanks for the trainers info both and sorry about the internal bitch www Wonder if feeling so raw about it was a sign of a cold emerging? Hope you feel better soon
I too am massively envious in a respectful sort of way of our Duchess. I still look like the Venus of Willendorf and a tiramisu (OK, but after a super healthy grilled tuna steak with a load of salad) for dad's birthday lunch (83 years young, bless him) won't have helped, but who else just could not resist being happy in today's glowing sunshine?
Dcs got cracking reports yesterday, which makes us think someone else other than his idiotic teacher wrote ds', and dd's is another child's. Batters, clock this "works quietly and responsibly on all activities"..."when encouraged, will join in with class discussion"..."A quietly helpful member of the class"...
Bought little Miss Jekyll some red Start Rites with buckles, shoes I can remember I wanted so desperately I nearly burst when I was her age
So a happy, happy day with lots of trotting about and laughter. But swimsuits? eeeeeek, I think not
Hope all have a great weekend!

Hello.

How's the outlaw invasion Bama?

Rebel dreams about restraining herself to only 10 lapses a week...

Don't fancy the pp at all, did see a thing that sort of emulates riding a horse the other week, and kind of fancied having a go on that (would love to ride a real horse...one day). Think I need the flexibar, but just don't fancy that.

Lol Marina, DS2 lurves my squishy tummy, and I reckon it's the fat cells keeping the wrinkles at bay. And sounds like you had a lovely day.

I detest rude people with a passion, www, and it's horrible when you're on the receiving end. Hope you're getting over the cold too.

Ooh, that Jo Malone cologne sounds lovely, not tried it though.

God bless streetcleaners eh Batters? How lovely to have a bit of child-free Saturday.

unknownrebelbang · 10/02/2008 12:24

We're having a bit of a lull today, between last week's chaos and half-term madness.

I think I know what I'm doing workwise now, so that's ok (spent a couple of hours there yesterday, and it's sooo peaceful going in at the weekend).

The younger two are in the Gang Show all this week, and muggins is a dresser, nay Team Leader no less, hahaha. Tis all good fun but we're all going to be shattered by this time next week. May need an IV for the wine by then, lol.

All this means I'm either going to be vv good or vv bad foodwise, hehe.

WideWebWitch · 10/02/2008 21:08

unknown, good luck with being a dresser, hope it went well

batters, ooh, didn't know that about the wee, do let me know. How fab about the compliment, that's lovely

Marina, whoever the venus of Willendorf is I bet you most certainly do not look like her, must look her up in a minute! Your dd sounds so lovely

Happy weekend everyone, will confess my skills before I start another thread, I MUST do better next week:

last night, 1.5 sausages
carrots and red peppers roasted in olive oil
roast potato wedges with roast garlic and onions
chip sandwich
and had 3 glasses of Cava and had to go to bed at 10.30 as was fallng asleep on the sofa. Hence woke up at 7ish feeling still full of cold but ok otherwise having had 8.5 hours sleep

So, not a good bootcamp day but mainly happy:

bacon sandwich
roast duck (good lord, it was amazing!)
roast potatoes
carrots
green beans
peas
roast garlic
wine
lots of water this afternoon as a result of drinking at lunchtime and a snooze on the sofa while dh cleared up
but taught ds how to cook a roast and he enjoyed it and have read to the children quite a bit today and watched a film with them and generally had a lovely lazy family day.
I am working from home tomorrow and it's made me realise how much I dislike my commute normally, I feel much happier than I usually do on a Sunday evening.

WideWebWitch · 10/02/2008 21:09

confess my skills?! wft? Sins, I meant.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 10/02/2008 21:10

oh unknown, just realised it's next week being a dresser, good luck, obv you won't know how it's gone yet!

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 10/02/2008 21:13

Marina, just snorted when I found out what the venus of willendorf looks like, ha ha ha, you are not REMOTELY like her but I most def am, in fact my mother had a small scupture very like this in her bathroom for years and I remember thinking, god, that does look like my mum but sadly, all these years later (was lithe 20something then) IT'S ME! Venus of waterwitch

kidsrus · 10/02/2008 21:40

www couldn't help but notice your dream after your bad day. in my dream book it says if you got out of the tunnel then its a good omen and everything will be ok.
also a comfortable old age through your own efforts when you participate in a chase.
if the car was speeding expect sudden news from a distance.
hope you enjoy reading these positive notes i enjoyed looking them up(haven't looked at books for ages).

Failed on water and early bed this week but feeling v.happy, applying cream and eating well.

WideWebWitch · 10/02/2008 21:41

Thanks kidsrus, I did get out of the tunnel in the dream because of my lovely boss

Hey, the job ends in April and I will only be extending if they give me a day a week at home.

OP posts:
kidsrus · 10/02/2008 21:51

wow perhaps the sudden news from a distance is a job offer on some beautiful island working 1 day a week and having lots of friends and family around you.

WideWebWitch · 10/02/2008 21:52

Maybe I have been drooling over this today

tortoiseSHELL · 10/02/2008 21:55

Hi, I've been off MN for a little bit (getting a bit of RL), but thought I would pop in.

I've had a bit of a nightmare day - my dad has gone into hospital with suspected heart problems. They live 300 miles away, so am dependent on phone calls from my mum to keep me up to date, so please keep your fingers crossed he is ok.

Hope you have all had good bootcamping weeks!

WideWebWitch · 10/02/2008 21:59

Oh tshell, fingers crossed for you, that must be a big worry. Welcome back.

OP posts:
kidsrus · 10/02/2008 22:14

tshell((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))
hope its only a blip, my df has been diagnosed with a heart that misses a beat evey now & again (apparently not unusual). he found this out in his pre med to remove skin cancer from his nose.
www that looks lovely i can see myself doing all those activities and more, also being pampered but would need a year at least!!!!!!!
perhaps you might get a job that takes you to this hotel to test it out (do you work for a news paper/travel agent?)

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 10/02/2008 23:03

Quick post on way to bed. I have been gardening all day and ache like buggery. (Don't examine that saying too closely btw). So lots of fresh air, good upper arm workout but only a measly 4000 steps.

Have eaten toasted bagel & cream cheese, hot cross bun, egg mayo & salad, shortbread biscuit, macaroni cheese, baked tomatoes and mushrooms stuffed with cheese & basil. Lots of water, 2 coffees, orange juice and iron supplement.

Sunscreen/moisturiser is all I've had on my face today. Gardening has wrecked hands so I've been slapping on handcream endlessly since 5pm.

Very happy because I've unearthed one of the outbuildings from under a huge growth of ivy - to the extent that I had to remove and relay roof tiles. And I've put a robin nesting box on the gable end. It looks lovely!

Hope you all have a good Monday (especially www who is skiving at home!).

marina · 10/02/2008 23:51

I delegated all bootcamp activity to ds today, who despite being a shrimpy 8 year old hiked 8 miles along the Green Chain Walk today with the rest of his Cub pack and an insane dog. Bless him, he is very proud of his efforts (must be the Foolhardy Challenge Badge, a lot of the Green Chain is not for the fainthearted) and so are we. He is loving Cubs - good luck for the Gang Show unknown!
I stayed home and ate toast and bickered with dd. Should have gardened like duchess but did also do a massive iron.
Torty, was going to drop you a line to see how you are anyway: XXX having been through all this over the summer myself. The main thing is a diagnosis - wishing both your and kidsrus' dads a full recovery. It's known about now, which is so important.
Lots of water, a happy busy weekend, but like duchess I do wish Omrons could cope with arm waving
I enjoyed your link almost as much as you enjoyed mine WWW I really expected that to be the flat damp expanses of the delightful Solway Firth. It looks fab. Do hope work is better for you next week.

WideWebWitch · 11/02/2008 08:30

Hmm, delegation of bootcamp?...

Back soon, got to drop ds to school.
