WWW's six week ten year younger bootcamp, WEEK FIVE of 2008

WideWebWitch · 03/02/2008 20:56

Welcome to week 5 of the first WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2008. Hello everyone.

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even though it's winter
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

IOTA GO TO THE GYM!!!

Or maybe go to Borders for a browse and a cup of coffee?

kidsrus sorry about your df too.

I have nearly finished the main task I have to do today at home Obv can't send it in yet...

Batters at finishing today and ikwym about missing them. It's so QUIET isn't it?

Marina, 8 miles is very impressive. I wonder if bickering uses calories?

OP posts:
marina · 11/02/2008 09:58

Batters, I missed ds while he was on his route march, totally sympathise
And I was out early this morning, working til 8pm tonight and then he is on a sleepover (with a rather excitable chum so I hope he has packed earplugs) so I am missing him already. Funny isn't it...even dd making up baroque tales about giant spiders and Clifford's Cafe from the pages of The Tale of Mrs Tittlemouse didn't cheer us up completely
Major system failure at work so am feeling this morning. Not helped by delicious but unapproved vanilla latte and low-fat muffin on way in (I knew what awaited me)

unknownrebelbang · 11/02/2008 10:01

Hope your dad is ok TS.

Delegation of bootcamp sounds a fab idea Marina. Well done to DS.

I didn't seem to stop eating yesterday, and am about to have croissants but I plan to be sensible for the rest of the day. Have already been on the ex bike, so that's out of the way.

It's lovely to get up in a morning and have NO rushing around.

Providing DH finishes on time I plan on going into work for an hour before going to the theatre.

The dress rehearsal was lonnnng on Saturday, and we do have some little darlinks (and not just excitable children, lol)...but the boys are sooo excited (DS3's first show).

DS1 is looking forward to the peace, lol.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 11/02/2008 11:08

Good luck to unknowns boys for the show!

t/shell - what's the news today?

iota - have you gone?????

marina - take a house point for ironing-exercise!

I have just started the day with coffee and a cream slice. However, I have already done over 6000 steps this morning and shall be gardening all afternoon. .

Prufrock · 11/02/2008 12:09

I managed to have only 10 sins last week, but only by not eating chocolate yesterday when I really wanted it, and slathering on body cream last night when all I really wanted to do was go to bed. So spreadsheet has undergone some changes

But, with the aid of the flexibar (I know it's ridiculously priced bundle, but I didn't buy one as I use my personal trainers) I have lost 3 inches from my waist and an inch form my hips, and bust. And that's since 18th December, so takes into account Christmas overeating/drinking.

www - you do know my BIL was deputy manager at Carlisle Bay when they opened? He's left now, but has moved to Hodges, which is apparently even swisher. He would say that, he's completely in charge now, so has to do terrible things, like choose bedlinen (Frette 400 count cotton rather than pure linen until they get the steam presses in from the States) and toiletries (they were going to be boring and have Molton Brown, but got a US company to custom blend their own fragranced stuff). I want his job.

WideWebWitch · 11/02/2008 12:30

omg Prufrock, no I didn't know, wow am SWOONING over Hodges bay in another window!

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 11/02/2008 12:33

I want to stay in a 3 bed ocean one with 2 baths. I could take ex mil as a babysitter...

OP posts:
Prufrock · 11/02/2008 12:38

I know - you'd swoon at the prices too - the penthouse is $3,600 per night. And next summer I get to go at comp rates of only $50/night (though I don't think he'll manage to swing us the penthouse!)

Iota · 11/02/2008 12:39

Right I have been to the gym - thanks for the nagging ladies, it gave me the impetus.

I gave the PowerPlate the evil eye, but couldn't bring myself to use it.

Prufrock, that flexibar looked interesting - my ds2 could be very dangerous with one of those.

WWW - I hope you aren't slacking on your 'working at home day' but you are allowed to stop for lunch

SHELL - good to see you back, crossing fingers for uou (and you too kidsrus)

Marina - hope ds's sleepover goes well - my ds1 is off to his 2nd ever on Friday.

Duchess - you set the bar too high for me - you put me to shame

Iota · 11/02/2008 12:53

and have a lovely half-term batters - our is next week

WideWebWitch · 11/02/2008 13:31

Prufrock, $50, are you SURE? So £25?
wow, wow.

I looked at the Antigua prices at the weeekend and said to dh hey look, that's NOTHING, look at this! and then reaslised it was for a night.

Iota, well done for going, I am on lunch but I mist go now, usually have half an hour, have just had a decadent hour, bliss!

OP posts:
Prufrock · 11/02/2008 17:17

Yep - he's useful . Prior to Carlisle Bay he was at Sandy Lane (wasn't allowed to comp us there, though we did get free drinks when we visited him) and before that he was at Cobblers where we stayed for a week (pre-kids) and were presented with a bill for $140.

WideWebWitch · 11/02/2008 17:47

More Prufrock!

I have been RUBBISH again today but very unstessed due to working from home:

2 piece toast, butter, Marmite and peanut butter
grapes
2 pieces shortbread
packet of Wotsits
smoked salmon sandwich, with butter
some cold but gorgeous left over roasted veg with garlic and onion
6 fish fingers
a piece of bread and butter with fish fingers
plenty of water

oops

OP posts:
bundle · 11/02/2008 17:49

breakfast: two pieces of marmite toast
lunch: potatocakes/fishcakes (homemade); hummus, flatbread, tomatoes, yoghurt, grapes

1 cup tea
1 cup coffee
1 glass water

hmmmwhat shall i eat this evening?

PollyDolly · 11/02/2008 19:27

Hope you are OK Tshell and kidsrus. Thinking of you.

Well done Iota on going to the gym. WWW, am deeply envious of your day off. The fools from your office seems to have migrated to mine. Have spent the day in various states of at others' idiocy. So much so that I am awarding myself Wed working at home.

Duch, you are putting me to shame. Again. Only managed 8,700 today and unless I spend the whole night running up and down stairs that won't increase much. Ah me.

Marina, good luck for the sleepover.

Pru, that looks wonderful - how luck you are to have such a useful BIL! Mine work for Ford and for a Swedish bank, so no such joy here alas.

Have a friend coming to stay tomorrow so need to remove the mountain of ironing (not done) from the spare room. Both children asleep already. Hope I can get it done before Masterchef

WideWebWitch · 11/02/2008 20:02

Polly, do tell me about your idiots, please, it will cheer me up! I was working at home today but oh goodness how lovely not to commute, bliss!

Bundle, well done what did you eat this evening?

I am eating apple and cheese
no wine, about bloody time too!

OP posts:
bundle · 11/02/2008 21:19

www fairly ok - spag bol made with v lean mince, single glass of cava

Prufrock · 11/02/2008 21:28

You are so good to be able to limit yourself to a single glass bundle. I have trouble limiting myslef to a single bottle.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 11/02/2008 21:37

Very of Pru's holiday gallery!
Well done Iota for going to the gym.

My standard of food has improved since that terrible breakfast! I had crab salad sandwich for lunch, apple, sardines & salad for dinner. I'm sure I've had a biscuit too. Nearly 1.5 litres of water and only 2 coffees.

15,500 steps and much of the afternoon gardening in the sunshine. Lots of face & hand cream because I am shrivelling up.

Any recommendations for a really rich eye cream please?

I needed a photo of DS1 as a baby for a school project today so had a browse through the albums. I certainly look 10 years younger in the pictures. And yet it was only 4.5 years ago. So I'll Carry on (boot)Camping.

bundle · 11/02/2008 21:39

i often have that trouble too prufrock

haven't really bothered with eye creams as wear contact lenses and don't really like things around my eyes. have used bits of the protect & perfect serum around eyes though.

unknownrebelbang · 11/02/2008 23:26

prufrock! Words fail me. My BIL is a practice manager so neither use nor bleeding ornament. He did once phone the ward when DS2 had been hospitalised to ask what was the matter with him, and implied "he was something medical" oh how the nursing staff laughed when I told them . My own brother is only slightly more useful as a skip wagon driver, lol.

Sunscreen yy
No booze
1 hr on the ex bike, running up and down stairs, not massive amounts but enough to wear me out, lol
Lots of water yy
Apply body cream no
Use hand cream no, must remember to put some in my bag
Go to bed early, fat chance
Eat healthily, not too bad, but need more fruit.
Be happy. Yes. Haven't a clue how the show has gone tbh, but have had great fun.

unknownrebelbang · 11/02/2008 23:29

And guess whose child forgot his modesty outfit???

bamamama · 11/02/2008 23:40

Haven't been able to catch up with everyone - hope all are well.

DH has suddenly found lots of work he needs to do and bike riding at night so I'm on day five of solo MIL wrangling.

HEEEEEELP

bama ponders if it's too early in the morning for wine.

LoveAndSqualor · 12/02/2008 12:50

bama, might I suggest that for the duration of MIL's stay, interchange local time with MN time, as appropriate? 23:40 (time of your last post) entirely acceptable for wine ...

Tshell, thinking of you - hope your dad's ok.

www, am holding you fully responsible for the fact that an idle moment of wotsits nostalgia has developed into a full-on wotsits obsession. Ah, the orangey dust at the bottom of the bag ... mmmmmmmm ....

ooh, prufrock, am SO jealous of your BIL/you! My sister is off to Antigua with her DP and his parents next month - actually, over my due date. She was going to stay here, but I (selflessly!) ordered her to go (her DP's family have been having an awful time recently, as perhaps some of you will remember).

Crapola day of crap yesterday. Had period-y cramps in stomach and legs over the weekend, bad enough to wake me/require paracetamol on sunday night, and finally cracked and called midwife on monday morning, who predictably said, ooh, better go and get it checked out. So I reluctantly went in to the day assessment place at the hosp where I sat for around eight hours , only to be told to come back if anything changed (which I could've predicted myself eight hours earlier). And had nothing to eat but weird hospital tuna sandwich, and nothing to read but a biography of Milton, which I'm really reading for work, and which was frankly not the distraction required ... Happily, DP had made spag bol and bought me chocolates for when I finally got home (but then he was up all night with upset stomach). So all in all - bah.

Today, cycled in via chiropractor, who is a miracle worker , ate toast and drank coffee, had peppermint tea and eaten a yellow plum. Thirsty, so must swill more water pronto. And am pelvic floor-ing away as I type!

Prufrock · 12/02/2008 13:02

I've decided that posting my sins is a bad pschological move, so monday:

Body brushed, hand cream, sunscreen, walked (well ambled) with dogs and children for about 1 hour.
3 cups coffee, 2l water, 1 cup peppermint tea.
Granola and skimed milk, lamb stew and buckwheat, grapes, redpepper rissotto.
20 minutes cardio and 100 sit-ups.

And I cleaned my face before bed and applied night moisturiser. I think that should be an additional rule www - going to bed with make-up/daily grime still on your face is a recipe for bad skin.
