Night out in London's trendy Brixton - what to wear ?

Oh god. I am too old for this. I am going out for a friend's 40th and we are off to a 'sweaty techno' place in Brixton. I need something comfortable, impossibly trendy and preferably black to blend in with the bright young things () I will be mingling with. I have just bought some black combat type generic trousers which are actually great and fit my lardy arse well. It's a start. Where from here ? Tops ? Shoes/trainers ? Accessories ? Help !

and definitely trainers.

bossykate · 29/01/2008 14:00

i think you will be fine in anything other than WAG wear tbh...

bossykate · 29/01/2008 14:00

lol at 40th bday in sweaty techno place in brixton - is 40 the new 21

where are you going exactly?

oldcheesyquaver · 29/01/2008 14:08

It's Tilted disco at Jamm... haven't got a clue where it is - probably a dank cellar somewhere on Brixton Hill. I'm not really au fait with the latest hang outs these days.

bossykate I think you're right about the WAG gear - best not venture out in that....

Yes it is rather funny re 40th isn't it ?

OP posts:

sexy black top that falls off the shoulder a bit revealing a camo print neon diesel bra. glazed expression, lip gloss

oldcheesyquaver · 29/01/2008 14:17

cosima you make it sound so effortless.

Aaah, the Junction pub - I know it. Been there several times - in fact I may have even seen Basement Jaxx there...the memories are dim now...

Yes, I think I will stick to comfy. I have some old Camper trainers which will do the trick, plus a cheap top from New Look or somert - no-one will know the difference.

I haven't been to Loughborough Junction for years!

I've seen a couple of short sleeve tops in Miss Selfridge which might do

lennygrrl - used to frequent Brixton lots in my younger days. Did you ever go to the 414 ?

anniemac - s'ok will be with a big crowd and am not planning on wearing anything skimpy - would look horrendous !

OP posts:
bossykate · 29/01/2008 14:48

lol anniemac - you don't think brixton is that trendy? where do you live?

a bulletproof vest?
JOKE - I like Brixton. The Satay Bar used to be my Friday night staple food-and-cocktails-until-I-can't-stand-up-anymore place. Wear something comfortable if you're going dancing. Jeans, nice top, ballet pumps?

oldcheesyquaver · 29/01/2008 15:26

The one up the hill ? Do you mean the White Horse ? We are going there first apparently. Have only been there once before though. What about Babushkas, and I used to go to the Dogstar loads. Ah memories (or not as the case may be...)

Yes Cap'n Cod, it will be a tough night. My last of this kind, I have decided...will be hanging up the glow sticks for good.

Will report back lennygrrl.
