A sad start to a new thread, but I hope we can celebrate the legacy of Elizabeth Regina, what a woman, and what style!

Yes wearing those type of gloves is so elegant.

I've just come across a little thread about tiaras on the The Royals board & it's a nice thread but lots of questions about the tiaras & other jewellery so I've invited the posters to come & join us here - to meet the experts. (Well I didn't put the experts bit as didn't want to sound like I was showing off but we are experts!)

Maireas · 20/09/2022 17:36

Good call, Tracy! So much knowledge on here, someone's sure to help!

@SenecaFallsRedux i love those gloves too. I had elbow length ones for my wedding. I used to wear those type of gloves out with an evening dress to work “dinner dances” etc in 90s but I don’t think people dress up that much any more.
@Gazelda yes I did the same with a necklace too when I was about 9 luckily it was only paste. So I didn’t give anything to my daughter until she was a bit older. My mother also gave me her crochet lace wedding gloves when I was about 16 and I dyed them black and ruined them, I still regret this to this day 😔

Speaking of things that perhaps should be brought back and also of gloves, I think that those elbow length gloves that Meghan wore were so elegant. There's a 1960s HMQ, P. Margaret, Jackie Kennedy vibe going on there.

Leti had gloves too I think, though I'm not sure what length. I saw a picture (I think it was her) and she was holding them.

I think there is considerable etiquette around glove length and when they should be worn.

I checked that thread out, Tracey, and posted that I hope Charles, known to be a jewellery afficionado, will encourage the ladies to start wearing more from the vaults. I would love to see Camilla wear Victoria’s oriental circlet, and Kate the Queen’s sapphire tiara.

Maireas · 20/09/2022 19:08

I know how Charles loves to see his female relatives enjoy the bling, so I hope it all gets worn and enjoyed! (as per our last thread title....)

The Vladimir tiara with the emerald drops would look absolutely beautiful on Kate.

I expect the above tiara is spoken for, @Maireas?

LadyEloise1 · 20/09/2022 19:18

I just saw a photo of Carole Middleton. She looks different. I can't put my finger on what it is.

Maireas · 20/09/2022 19:18

I'm consulting The Spreadsheet of Tiaras and Other Bling as we speak....

I’m still so envious that someone (don’t remember who...) managed to nab themselves a sceptre!! Envy Grin

Maireas · 20/09/2022 19:20

It appears that the Vladimir is unclaimed!

Is it the photo from the Abbey yesterday @LadyEloise1? I saw the one of her entering with her DH and thought she looked different but put it down to her hair being swishy and softer somehow.

NiqueNique · 20/09/2022 19:21

Ohhhh please may I have it, in that case! Smile

meateatingveggie · 20/09/2022 19:22

Can I suggest the next title includes something like HMQ and her diamonds are forever?

Could you imagine that on top of Kate’s dark tresses? It would look stunning.

Failing that the hairy member of the house deserves a blingy collar so… 😁

NiqueNique · 20/09/2022 19:25

That’s fabulous. And more importantly, I think HMQ would have approved, since she worked with the man himself!

Maireas · 20/09/2022 19:25

@NiqueNique : Emerald Drop Vladimir Tiara ✔️

Ah thank you 💐 I shall wear it every day until Tuesday, in honour of Elizabeth II. 👑

I would love to see some if the less Wien jewels make an appearance! I didn’t know Charles likes to see them being worn, so hopefully he’ll throw the vault doors open and they can see the light of day.
There’s only really Kate, Camilla and Sophie to wear them though. Maybe Beatrice could step up, and Eug, they both looked fab in their wedding bling. And Bea always has good shoes

gluenotsoup · 20/09/2022 19:43

Less worn… stupid phone😳

meateatingveggie · 20/09/2022 19:47

I'd love to see them worn. There must be so many we haven't even seen. The Queen Mothers Strathmore (?)tiara is one that comes to mind.

Maybe they could even start a new brooch trend Smile

gingercat02 · 20/09/2022 19:51

We must be due lots of State visits to the new King. Frocks and rocks as far as the eye can see.......
And the Coronation 👑👑👑👑👑👑

NiqueNique · 20/09/2022 20:04

I fervently hope that Sophie’s role as one of the stalwarts of the family unit is rewarded with a few more tiaras made available for her use.
