A sad start to a new thread, but I hope we can celebrate the legacy of Elizabeth Regina, what a woman, and what style!

Kate looked fabulous. Suitably elegant but somewhat understated. And HMQ necklace just enough of a nod to her position now. She really is very beautiful.

I cannot comment on Meghan

Camilla nailed it too. I didn't like the lace inserts either Beatrice.

DisforDarkChocolate · 19/09/2022 20:11

I think May 2023 for Charles' coronation.

No symbolic dress needed for him and I'd expect Camilla to wear one of the formal white dresses she already has, perhaps with some added embellishments.

The Eurovision is usually in May. Unless they move it.

Lampzade · 19/09/2022 21:21

Loved both Kate and Meghan’s look.
However , I thought Kate’s necklace was a bit too much. Her makeup was lovely. Channelling Alexis Carrington Colby.
Meghan looked absolutely stunning. Hair and makeup were perfection
Mrs Macron looked lovely too, but best dressed was Princess Charlotte. She looked so sweet

George looks nothing like the Spencers or Windsors! He's Mike Middleton v2.0.

I think he looks like Edward VIII!

I’ll have to leave further fashion commentary for now as I just haven’t looked well enough yet. But didn’t like Carrie’s outfit at all. Meghan’s was fantastic. Charlotte was a darling and I absolutely loved the little brooch.

Will have a good look but for tonight i just want to contemplate life, death and the universe. Life here is short but whatever comes after, no one is ever truly gone. We live on and the threads that bind us together across centuries and millennia absolutely do matter.

Indeed.

I’ll pop this down which says the same.

Like a wind crying endlessly through the universe, time carries away the names and deeds of conquerors and commoners alike.
And all that were, all that remains, is in the memories of those who cared we came this way for a brief moment.

OttersMayHaveShiftedInTransit · 19/09/2022 21:43

Another one who wasn't a fan of Carrie's dress. I thought Norma Major was the best dressed of the Ex (PM's) wives club. I can't think that she was ever a stylish woman but I thought she looked lovely today.

MinglingFlamingo · 19/09/2022 21:43

Think I've occasionally posted on these threads before but not regularly

Just a quick question, what do the ladies wear under their coats? It's September so whilst cold in the Abbey it's still fairly warm so nothing too thick I'd have thought. Is it just a black substantial slip dress thing or an actual dress??

justasking111 · 19/09/2022 21:44

I wonder if we'll have another royal baby by the time of the coronation if it's at the end of May

I'm with pp that I think Meghan is pregnant perhaps a little bit of a bump. she also had that glow / aura about her

justasking111 · 19/09/2022 21:48

I was thinking of Beatrice and/or Eugenie. Life often springs from death in my experience

BeaLola · 19/09/2022 22:01

Long shot but do you think Charles might go for his coronation on His Mothers birthday ? Next year it's a Friday ?

Eaumyword · 19/09/2022 22:05

Ooh Charlene looked fab. That's my first peep at her today.
A proper look at Meghan from the side too and I really like that cape style.
I'm not sure what goes under a coat dress. My guess is a light (maybe shift style) dress that if necessary, the outer coat layer could be removed and you'd not be in your undies 😂

justasking111 · 19/09/2022 22:06

Just after Easter 21 April, schools are back, revision for exams not sure

chesterelly1 · 19/09/2022 22:12

A quick Google says Trooping the Colour 2023 was scheduled for June 3rd so I'm going to say Coronation on the 2nd, with a move of the May Bank Holiday like they did this year for Platinum Jubilee plus an additional Bank Holiday Monday. I mean I know there will be a Coronation plan that's probably already rolling but wouldn't some things be simplified by using a date where a reasonably big event was already planned, & it'll avoid other big things like Eurovision, Cup Final & so on

If I was a betting woman, that's what I'd put my money on. Especially as in England at least that's half term so no worries about exam clashes or anything.

paradyning · 19/09/2022 22:23

Leti wore a veil!!

MotherofPearl · 19/09/2022 22:54

I love Leti's veil. So elegant.

Pallisers · 19/09/2022 22:58

I also loved that Felipe at the viewing automatically made the sign of the cross. I'm surprised Joe Biden didn't too - it is such a catholic response at a wake.

667TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 19/09/2022 23:09

Anyone else think Boris looked like he had been dragged through a hedge backwards?! Most of the other ex PM’s were wearing morning suits with waistcoats, it’s not as if he can’t afford it is it ?

Oh the official royal birthday sorry thought it meant the real one. Goosebumps below

Saw Boris commons speech close up it looks as if chunks of hair had been ripped out. Covid really did a number on him. I suspect he was a bit vain about his Barnet

Albert’s military uniform … maybe not as dashing as his British counterparts? The two tone pants and jacket combo have an air of railway conductor.

Charlene - very elegant.

A bit like the Fat Controller? 🤔

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 20/09/2022 01:02

The Queen's funeral although very sad was also beautifully done, perfect.
Like @Spudlet said, "I kept expecting HMQ to be sitting there in the pews along with the rest of the family"

@SenecaFallsRedux you must if you can, come over for the Coronation & all our other overseas Royal Style Fashionistas.

@Maireas do you think it would be nice at some point to have a meet up?
At some point we should walk past Bentley & Skinners so we can admire all those tiaras in the window 😁

StartupRepair · 20/09/2022 03:34

What an utterly beautiful and fitting occasion. Completely dazzled by the service, the procession, the music and the flowers. haven't looked at all the clothes but loved how Kate and Charlotte were in sync. Sitting watching in Melbourne discussing with DH whether we should go over for the coronation next year.
