A sad start to a new thread, but I hope we can celebrate the legacy of Elizabeth Regina, what a woman, and what style!

Ooo I used to serve coffee to DofH's mum every morning (Kay)

*stepmum

I agree the coronation is likely to be next May to tie in with half-term - it's the most obvious choice really. I've already got my DH to book that week off work! I definitely want to go and bring the kids. I know from the jubilee this year that we arrived too late (9.30am) and it was a similar cut off on timings today for the central London part of the funeral. Would definitely look at a much earlier start to make sure of a spot!!!

They’d better lock down that Eurovision date so. Or maybe combine the two in a riot of pageantry and colour?

I spotted Earl Spencer in the congregation but nowadays he looks more like Earl Johnson! He and Boris could pass for brothers.

😂😂 so true!

Albert’s military uniform … maybe not as dashing as his British counterparts? The two tone pants and jacket combo have an air of railway conductor.

Charlene - very elegant.

Ah, there's no right and wrong with style is there? It's all subjective. I've heard other people say that they liked Carrie's dress. At least she tries different looks! I thought Zara looked good as well.
Loved Baroness Scotland and Dr Biden, who is definitely going for the Krystle Carrington look!

The Dynasty look is floating around. I thought of it when I saw Carole Middleton necklace

KillingMeDeftly · 19/09/2022 20:45

The Duke of Marlborough had a long-standing drug problem didn't he?

I wonder if any Bowes-Lyon cousins were there? I doubt the current Earl of Strathmore was, given that he was convicted of sexual assault last year.

Maireas · 19/09/2022 20:46

Yes, I posted a close up of Charlene upthread, and I agree she looks very elegant. I don't know what it is about Albert and his uniforms. They always look slightly comic opera and they never fit.

It's definitely a bit Sir Topham Hat.

paradyning · 19/09/2022 20:47

That's exactly what I think of Albert when I see him trussed up. He looks like he is playing dress up.
Loved Chaz's dress and her hat had a distinctly 80s vibe.
Really didn't like Eug's outfit or hat. Also very 80s. I have a think against gold buttons!
Bea's lace godets in her skirt we're at odds with the jacket.
Kate's dress was oh so dull. But it is what we have come to expect. Think that's why i thought it was CW earlier. (Thanks for the McQueen correction) it's oddly boring

Sophie as a fail for me.
But now I'm being picky.

paradyning · 19/09/2022 20:48

Ffs those are not my typos. Stares madly at autocorrect.

justasking111 · 19/09/2022 20:49

Note the soft curls as well

travellingfamily · 19/09/2022 20:49

Thanks for the link with the numbers - I think maybe the aristocracy start just beyond the furthest row numbered. I recognise Arthur Mornington I think (heir to Duke of Wellington, ex husband of Jemma Kidd).

But v interesting to compare to coronation coverage which is very ‘peers of the realm’. It is almost like the media think the public are quite happy with a royal family but much less happy to be reminded of the aristocracy and the close links with the royals.

SenecaFallsRedux · 19/09/2022 20:51

I would love to come over to the UK for the Coronation. I'm retiring in a few months; that would be a good retirement present. 👑

She is almost unrecognisable there

NiqueNique · 19/09/2022 21:00

Oh no I thought Kate’s coat dress was absolutely perfect for the occasion! It’s not boring, IMO, it’s just not interesting. But it absolutely shouldn’t be on a day like this where full focus rightly should be on the late HMQ. I thought her whole look was just right and I even liked the necklace which can be a bit awkward sometimes. A stunning look. And it’s not always easy to look fantastic and yet keep everything just the right side of respectful IYKWIM.

Gooseysgirl · 19/09/2022 21:00

Fashion reflections for today... loved Kate (predictable coat dress, great hat!), MM, Sophie, Louise (gorgeous), Camilla, Zara (another fab flared dress... she must have read this thread 😄), Jill Biden, Fergie, Max, Rania, Jacinda. But was a bit disappointed in the York sisters. Bea has nailed midi length recently and the shorter length she wore today just didn't work for me, Eugenie's was ok - wasn't keen on the hat. On the fence about Carrie (personally I'm not keen on brass/gold on black - maybe that's why).

Is that Carole M? I wouldn't have recognised her either!

A refreshed look perhaps 😉

Gooseysgirl · 19/09/2022 21:05

@CliffsofMohair... Eurovision and a Coronation wound be all my Christmases at once 🤣

NiqueNique · 19/09/2022 21:09

I’ll have to leave further fashion commentary for now as I just haven’t looked well enough yet. But didn’t like Carrie’s outfit at all. Meghan’s was fantastic. Charlotte was a darling and I absolutely loved the little brooch.

Will have a good look but for tonight i just want to contemplate life, death and the universe. Life here is short but whatever comes after, no one is ever truly gone. We live on and the threads that bind us together across centuries and millennia absolutely do matter.

I’ll be honest I’d tune in 😂😂😂

Pallisers · 19/09/2022 21:12

I thought Kate and Meghan both looked lovely but Kate really nailed it. Loved Charlotte's outfit - perfect with the little brooch.

I turned on the tv here in the US and thought I was watching a re-run of Westminister for a few minutes. Two services and an internment - they are going to be absolutely knackered.

CliffsofMohair · 19/09/2022 21:14

Disappointed not to see my fave Delphine and her take on funeral wear.

Pallisers · 19/09/2022 21:15

And the bhutanese royals were stunning as always.
