A sad start to a new thread, but I hope we can celebrate the legacy of Elizabeth Regina, what a woman, and what style!

Nique I've claimed the sceptre but glad to see you've nabbed a suitable tiara.

I also saw pics of Carole M and her face is definitely changing but whether that's with age or 'work' I couldn't say.

NiqueNique · 20/09/2022 20:09

Ah so it was you @frugalkitty! Well played. That must be quite a talking point at dinner parties... Wink

I fervently hope that Sophie’s role as one of the stalwarts of the family unit is rewarded with a few more tiaras made available for her use.

I'd like to see her in the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara!

I just saw a photo of Carole Middleton. She looks different. I can't put my finger on what it is.

She's put some weight on her face, it seems to be wider & a bit fuller. I don't know if that's happened naturally as she's an older lady or chemically enhanced.

NiqueNique · 20/09/2022 20:21

Oh yes that would be a lovely one for her to wear!

meateatingveggie · 20/09/2022 20:23

I really hope Edward and Sophie are made Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh soon. Not only because it was their parents wishes, but I think they should be recognised for stepping up in recent years. Along with that Sophie should indeed be wearing jewels of her choice.

MotherofPearl · 20/09/2022 20:27

I hadn't realised the Vladimir was unclaimed! Nique, lucky you! Perhaps you might let me borrow it (on the pearl setting, obviously) occasionally.

MotherofPearl · 20/09/2022 20:44

Max looking absolutely fabulous at Prince's Day today! That voluptuous coatdress really suits her. CP Amalia's dress is a beautiful colour on her, and she's wearing some serious bling too. I felt a bit confused about the time of day/dress code though. Max's outfit seems more daywear (admittedly extravagant daywear), but Amalia's dress seems like evening-wear. Princess Laurentien was also in an evening gown.

There's quite a funny Tracy Ullman sketch where she plays an Angela Merkel who is irate that Nicola has stolen her signature look!

😂

paradyning · 20/09/2022 21:19

Max looks so cosy! With a very emeritus Empress of Japan-esque hat on there.

I can't believe no one claimed the Vlad.

It will be very strange indeed to see another person wearing QE's stalwarts. I hope they are rested for a bit.

Can't believe someone has snagged the sceptre. All 500-odd carats of diamond. You could make loads of tiaras out of that!

Serenster · 20/09/2022 21:20

That photo of Max looking at the King is hilarious! With the look on her face and her body slightly angled from him, it looks like shes just realised he’s done something unmentionable 🤣

The dress code is, from memory “Long day dress with full orders” which in real life doesn’t really exist any more. So they often go for an covered up evening dress, but pared down (without sequins etc) look. Leti has one military engagement a year with the same dress code and inevitably wears a floor length navy skirt with a top - I think she’s given up the struggle!

BeaLola · 20/09/2022 21:21

Re brooches - one thing I do with mine is pin them to my scarfs in autumn/winter - also thicker fabric to pin them too

I know! I was sure it must be, but decided to ask anyway. Smile I’m willing to share here and there in a friendly exchange.

MotherofPearl · 20/09/2022 21:30

Thanks Nique. I am happy to let you borrow my lovely Fife tiara in exchange.

Max looks great!

@paradyning I know what you mean, it will be very odd.

I’m in two minds on whether or not I would rather some were retired for a while (perhaps when William is King, Kate could wear them) or whether it is more fitting to honour history, heritage and HMQ by wearing them sooner rather than later.

NiqueNique · 20/09/2022 21:33

@MotherofPearl oh what an absolute beauty!!

@Maireas we are almost out of thread.

Serenster · 20/09/2022 21:33

Looking at some other photos of the Prinsjedag, I think Amalia is going to be great fun to watch as she starts to take on more of a public role. Look - not only is she wearing heirloom Dutch emeralds as a necklace and earrings, but she borrowed the hat her Mum wore to Will and Kate’s wedding, and some of the diamond star brooches Max wore then too!

Thanks for explaining about the dress code. I think I know the Leti event you mean - I've seen pictures of that before (January?) and always think how odd the ballgown length skirt looks in broad daylight!

NiqueNique · 20/09/2022 21:34

Fab fashion and jewellery from Max and Amalia.

Royal weddings in the UK used to have this dress code, or something similar. I think the last one might have been Princess Margaret's.

SingaporeSlinky · 20/09/2022 21:35

@BeaLola do you keep one pinned to each scarf or change them? I hadn’t considered pin holes until the talk about fabrics.

I think we need to see a return of Queen Mary's Boucheron Loop tiara, currently unworn but would look incredible on Camilla!

I don't think anyone has bagged it either, would it be rude to have another? 🤔👑👑👑
