It's always a smart move putting away the things that don't fit. And your outfit today sounds fab!

neveradullmoment99 · 24/07/2022 11:38

Well on my wish list is:

  1. The denim tunic
  2. The wide leg cotton yellowish trousers but at nearly £200, I will wait for now!
  3. The Elm shirt
  4. The tiered space check dress

That's it so far.

I do have a few pairs of fixed wear toast trousers I’ve packed away though as they’re just too tight atm. I’m not ready to part either them but at the same time it depressed me being confronted with them every day and gave me that ‘I’ve nothing to wear and look shit in everything’ feeling which I hate. With them out of sight, I k ow everything in there fits.

I'm the same. I'm struggling most with weight on tummy and boobs or back.
I've put most of my 12's in bag storage. I'm really struggling with fixed waists cutting me in two.
Blast the menopause! The weight is stubborn to budge too and Ilove food.

When I say 12. I mean high street 12. 10 at Toast or small.
I'm a 14 on high Street now, so a 12 in Toast.

I did not keep any sale purchases this summer, I missed out on some items (slow off the mark) that I wanted.

I've bought two items from the new season but am not sure about keeping them.:

The Diamond Block print dress is a really beautiful cornflower blue colour, much nicer than the photograph. However it is truly voluminous, and I have tried the XS and even this is big on me (I'm usually an 8 or even 10 in Toast). Still deciding.

The Garment dyed organic workwear jacket in blue is lovely but a neat fit. Anyone considering this might want to size up. I think I will not keep this because although the colour is fantastic (a vivid attention grabbing blue) it is still a denim jacket, not formal enough for work and too similar to the cotton/linen jacket I bought in blue from the last season (whichI wear so much).

ToastCosILoveIt · 24/07/2022 17:30

Hello fellow Toasties, I am enjoying reading the feedback on your sales purchases and also hearing about the items you are eyeing up from the new collection.

i ended up buying more from the sale than I ever thought I would: three pairs of PJs, a nightdress and a robe are definitely top of the list, although there was more. The painted patchwork PJs are the favourite: they are either on me or in the wash. I haven't worn the matching robe yet but might take the tip from others on here who have worn it over a dress as a light cover up. The wool cotton gingham dress with the puff sleeves is another favourite. I have also joined the club of 'napkin as neck scarf" with the seed stripe in clover :). My last sales purchase was a wheat bag and two pottery west tea bowls which I will enjoy using.

Thanks to @Stoic123 I now have the size 10 cotton linen pinafore which is a fab fit and looks great: very flattering. It arrived yesterday and I immediately put it on with the sleeveless blue tank from last summer although I had to take it off again as it is very hot here.

Looking ahead, I have my eye on the tie neck fluid twill dress in nasturtium. I have a few Toaast dresses in this style and they never fail me, very flattering. I also like the look of the poplin lightweight jacket in copper. I am not big on jackets but this one is speaking to me. I know that poplin divides us but I love it. They have styled it beautifully on the website and, as one of the reviews said, it is also a possible top as well as a jacket. Reviews suggest it might be one to size down on.

I already have the pleated collar shirt which I bought when I visited the Cambridge store. I will visit one or more of the London stores in the next couple of weeks and will check out the new collection in more detail.

The Poetry catalogue landed on my doormat yesterday. I bought a couple of Poetry dresses last summer and love then although other pieces in the collections have never pulled me in. The catalogue looks good though, especially some of the cropped trousers. I like the ones below and also the necklace and jumper. I wish there was a Poetry shop to visit as the clothes aren't cheap and I am unsure on sizing. Also, catalogues can make things look great and then when you try them on in reall life...not so much. With the dresses I have the sizing was generous, but not enough to size down for.

@ToastCosILoveIt - glad you like it! Wishing you many happy pinafore-wearing days.

ToastCosILoveIt · 24/07/2022 20:52

Thnank you @Stoic123 , i already have the denim one so am pinafored up now!

Today I am wearing a mix of new and old Toast: the navy shorts from this season and a broderie anglais white cap sleeved blouse from four or five years ago (maybe more). Every time I wear it (and i haven't worn it for at least 2 years) I wonder why I don't wear it more often as it is a classic.

dudsville · 25/07/2022 08:59

An acceptable use of brown?

faustina · 25/07/2022 10:12

That's very nice dudsville - what are the trousers?

dudsville · 25/07/2022 10:29

Thanks @faustina ! They're toast wool trousers from a few years back. They were wide leg, I tapered them a bit so they may not be recognisable as a result.

TheChattyRat · 25/07/2022 10:38

Great outfit! I really like that lys shirt 😍

dudsville · 25/07/2022 13:34

Thank you @TheChattyRat , it gets so much wear!

dudsville · 25/07/2022 13:35

What are you thinking re the pleated denim trousers?

Countmeout · 25/07/2022 13:40

That works really well @dudsville .
Good idea to take the trousers in.

dudsville · 25/07/2022 13:43

Thanks @Countmeout ! I've done it with all except for the 2 pairs of cotton linen ones, but will probably do then soon.

faustina · 25/07/2022 15:43

If anyone's interested, they're doing solovair at TK Maxx at the moment. I've ordered some of their Chelsea boots to try

AmethystMoonShine · 25/07/2022 17:26

Just got back from Latitude Festival…. I wore Toast dresses every day and yesterday a lady said she liked my Toast dress and she’d considered wearing her one like it that morning! It was a brief encounter but made me smile as I thought about how we all tend to spot Toast on others and admire them,…. Wasn’t anyone here was it?!

ToastCosILoveIt · 25/07/2022 19:48

@dudsville , loving the Lys blouse. I bought it and sent it back as it did nothing for me but looks good with that combo.

dudsville · 25/07/2022 21:04

Thanks@ToastCosILoveIt ! @AmethystMoonShine , firstly, amazing that you went to a festival! Secondly, it would be very cool if you came across one of us. Wasn't me! Did you have a good time?

AmethystMoonShine · 25/07/2022 21:52

Lovely time thank you @dudsville I was struck by how you can truly wear whatever you like at festivals and no one gives anyone a second glance. Fancy being a glittery unicorn for the day, no problem or maybe 90s grunge, 70s sequins head to toe or steampunk anyone?
It was people watching heaven! Although I mainly went for the music, comedy and crafts…. And food and drink Grin
oh and at Latitude the sheep are pink, what’s not to love?

dudsville · 26/07/2022 06:53

😂I didn't know that!

dudsville · 27/07/2022 10:53

Artful, brown tumbleweed rolls past, silhouetted against a summer's pink and green sky. Dudsville, now alone, continues talking to an interestingly shaped twig...

I miss the active sale chat! I'll acclimatise soon. In the meantime, today's offering is the toast blue and slate striped tee from the winter sale, the one with the weird high neck/slashed neckline that's a bit odd but so soft and comfortable. It's under the denim wrap dress from an early pandemic sale that I recently turned into a sort of pinafore that, as a result, now gets a lot of wear. It's an uninspired outfit that will get no points for creativity, but it's comfy. Have so far successfully talked myself out of going to a toast shop and purchasing full price items...

MrsCat1 · 27/07/2022 11:45

Currently on holiday in South Wales and decided to divert to the Llandeilo shop which is a mixture of current season and archive. Imagine my disappointment after a 40 mile diversion to find a sign on the door to say it was closed to customers that afternoon. Inside I could see lots of people. I think it was one of those focus groups going on that so many of us applied for. And there was me nose pressed to the window, drooling......Confused

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 27/07/2022 14:16

That is annoying @MrsCat1 , did you pull faces through the window Grin ?
