I bought the Beri gown in last winter sale and it was the same, Fudge... Ok until I sat in it on the sofa in the evening after a shower..( as is my want) and found that my side boobs were exposed.. I sewed the gaps up on both sleeve and body and they are fine, works just like a normal dressing gown now .

Im not too worried about the olive shirt ( except a bit surprised at the poor quality of the fabric).. I have spent more than enough recently!

Thank you @Theteapotsbrokenspout for the kimono information. I may do as Laska has done and sew up. There are parts of me I would not like to be on general display!!!

Ooh I’m kind of jealous of everyone receiving their final sale orders today. I love receiving a toast parcel 🙂
Like @neveradullmoment99 I’ve only ended up with 2 items - the dart cord trousers in blue and the contortionist dungarees!
So now everyone has their sale items what would you say was your best purchase?
I haven’t worn either of mine yet but think they will become wardrobe workhorses.
@dudsville the pleat indigo trousers are something I have my eye on - would you recommend them?

It’s weird how some things do that. I’m wearing an M&S linen shirt today. I sized up for a slouchy fit and it’s already an oversized style. It’s very big on me when I pull it away from my body but I’ve noticed myself constantly tugging the placket down as it’s gaping.

I had to go and check mine after all the chat. I don’t think my openings are big enough to expose me, luckily, as I’ve been wandering round the garden deadheading roses every morning in it. Phew!

Out of my 3 sale purchases @TheChattyRat I have to chose the fairisle tank. It goes with more than you’d have thought and I am looking forward to wearing it when the weather cools.

Yeah, a kimono thing. I sent mine back as it just felt a bit over-aereated!

Hm, that’s hard given my current policy of ‘adore or return’. However, I love my brown gansey and the neat orange jumper. But they are already packed away for winter pleasure! I adore the grey alpaca waistcoat and have worn it loads already. I did buy the lime checked linen dress but it’s been too cold to wear it here which is a bit disappointing as I really like it. I’ve also worn the checked cotton cashmere dress with the sleeves a lot. I think that’s all I’ve bought.

I really like my moss trousers but I think my favourite things are the home items, particularly my blue tea caddy.
What about regrets? - I’m already regretting sending back the lichen Carpenter trousers, and that was only yesterday. I’ve got loads of trousers and I would have had to take them up so it’s totally irrational.

@TheChattyRat ,I really like them! I usually buy my normal high street size in trousers for toast though, I've got a lot of hip and thigh, and even I sized down one size in these. They may swamp a neater figure, but mine get a lot of wear in cooler weather. Around the same time I bought some solovair shoes from toast in a sale and like wearing them together with cropped arket cardigans.

As for sale favourites, like @ilovecherries I only kept things I really liked from the start. If I find myself wondering about something at first glance then it's always ended up being returned. So I can't say favourites, I tried typing out one or two stand outs and found myself listing everything, and I bought loads so it's a long list! I was celebrating a big birthday and being able to splurge was a lot of fun.

Yes, I was the same @dudsville .I had a huge clear out of my wardrobe about 6 weeks ago.. I 'retired' just before Covid hit and because it has been so strange with since its taken me this long to really work out my new non-working life wardrobe and to decide just what I would really never need or want to wear any longer. So much went! But what I have now ( and its still a lot tbh) and what I buy from now on is going to have to work for my new life.. It means more considered pieces, better quality and more emphasis on the life I actually am living.... I was rather ashamed to get rid of a few things which I had bought over the last few years and had never worn.

My wardrobe needs a good clear out. It is bulging with Toast items I bought in the amazing John Lewis sales over the last couple of years before they stopped selling Toast. I'm ashamed to say there are some I haven't worn. Blush
I've also put on some weight so there are things that are too tight or that I no longer feel good in, they are languishing at the back of the wardrobe.
I have so many pairs of trousers!

I need to get a grip and sort it out, but it's so difficult to do when you're not feeling good about yourself and don't want to look in the mirror!

Great, new thread!

@dudsville that's interesting about your sale wins being things you noticed from the beginning - rings true for me as well. Some of the things I ordered at the last minute were, in retrospect, completely wrong for me and just for the sale thrills!

I ended up with just three things - my gingham blouse (have yet to wear as it's been so hot), the ochre pjs (already the best purchase), and in the end I did keep the wool cloche. Still quite pricy but I'd been eyeing it for at least two sales!

Onto the new stuff, I have a tight wish list. Have realised that the Strata check dress doesn't suit me, much as I love the colours I think the large-scale check and high-contrast weave was wearing me, when I look back at the photos. The Mul Mul blouse on the other hand is incredible flattering, I keep looking at the change room photo I snapped and thinking "wow"! So expensive though. I've added the orange sweater and a tee shirt to my "to try" list, but trying to stay restrained for now!

Those wardrobe clear outs are so interesting to me @Laska2Meryls , I go in there twice a year and really enjoy the process, but I was amazed at how much my thinking had changed this time. I realised I have several pairs of toast wool trousers that I think of as workwear and they haven't been worn much since the pandemic because I thought they were too elevated to be wfh or being at home and out and about trousers. I'll take a different approach this year.

I only kept two items this sale. Neither have been worn yet as I've hardly left the house apart from dog walks, and we're currently renovating so I refuse to wear nice clothes inside. In the office for a few days this coming week though so may pull out the trousers I received yesterday.

The dress I ordered I love, but it really smells of chemicals/plastic so it needs at least a good airing (impossible in the house right now!) or a wash before wear.

The main item on my wishlist is the Pecan Cashmere Cardigan, increased in price by £20 in the last week. I also still list after a couple of pairs of Gabis but the full price is just not encouraging me!

John Lewis Toast sales were fabulous! The one thing that I do want , which I know was in their sale and regret not buying at the time is a pair of Jute Gabis.. I have been keeping an eye out on ebay but I think that I may just bite the bullet now.
But ( long shot) if anyone has a pair sitting in their wardrobe size 10 they would like to sell, do PM me ..

I think the first things I bought in the sale were the winners as well.. Ginkgo nightdress ( I have worn this several times as a dress/ kaftan / beach cover up during the last few hot days ) . Red embroidered jacket, that will get lots of wear later over darker trousers and top , The slate shirt jacket, which 8s just a classic , and the rust striped Emma ( even though I returned one and reordered as prices dropped !) . The only thing I kept from my later purchases was the Avery scarf.. which Toast partially refunded because it was heavily perfumed.

I do have a favourite JL toast sale item - the tattersall trousers from a few years back. They were eye wateringingly expensive and suddenly JL had 1 pair in my size left. I still love them so much.

I do love the gabis but apart from the Jute at JL I don’t think I’ve ever seen them reduced. I’ve built up a bit of a Gabi wardrobe over the years though. Today I’m wearing the black ones with that huge gingham kin shirt from lockdown, with a kin ecru denim shirt dress open over the top (freezing here).

I do have a few pairs of fixed wear toast trousers I’ve packed away though as they’re just too tight atm. I’m not ready to part either them but at the same time it depressed me being confronted with them every day and gave me that ‘I’ve nothing to wear and look shit in everything’ feeling which I hate. With them out of sight, I k ow everything in there fits.
