Hm. With the gabis I tuck (all the way round), if I’m wearing a longer cardi or one of the denim coat dresses. Otherwise not. The Alix tend to fall quite low onto my hips, so I do a half tuck with these.

ilovecherries · 11/09/2022 18:07

I’m guessing any sale has been postponed, that they might feel it’s a bit tacky to be sending lots of sale emails this week?

dudsville · 11/09/2022 20:54

I like the current trend/return to fully tucked, but i can't bring myself to do it!

And I've been thinking the same @ilovecherries, if they'd been planning a sale it was unfortunate timing. They're a business though, and will need the revenue a sale brings so i have my fingers crossed. I noticed they don't have the banner a lot of companies seem to have, which might be the middle ground for those still running normally.

Snowyowl78 · 11/09/2022 21:50

Thanks guys seems the untuck is more popular!!!! I think the same about the sale I think they have postponed it.

FiddleFigs · 12/09/2022 16:12

Oooh I do like this: Peaks Print Easy Dress - not for £175 though.

For those who own Blundstones, how's the fit? Do they come up true to size?

mizu · 12/09/2022 16:27

Fiddle - gorgeous, isn't it!

I have blundstones and find them true to size.

Has anyone ordered the Peaks print easy dress? Any feedback? One very positive review on the site. My hesitation is that I ordered the last version of this (ditsy print I think it was) and it was an odd shape, a bit like a kaftan on me

Countmeout · 13/09/2022 16:10

@JustforToast I tried the ditsy dress too and it didn’t suit me. Think the fabric in the peaks dress is lovely but I wondered was it the same shape. Toast do seem to repeat styles a great deal

Snowyowl78 · 13/09/2022 16:47

@Countmeout @JustforToast i have the easy dress in the harlequin and the black version (forget the name) and they look like the same for as the Peaks one. I love the shape and fit. However I also tried the ditzy one and looked frumpy! I think it was the pattern. The sizing is big so you might want to size down.

Snowyowl78 · 13/09/2022 18:53

There’s a toast live from today with the new collection

Countmeout · 13/09/2022 19:16

Anyone watch?

AFingerofFudge · 13/09/2022 19:18

As some of you know- as wildly different as it is to Toast- I'm also a big fan of Lucy and Yak. I have just bought a pair of their Billie Trousers which arrived today and they are very like the cord Gabis. They are longer, and the crotch drop isn't as far, but they have pockets and are good quality. Less than half the price (Lucy and Yak do a discount if you're and NHS worker so I got them for £38.40) ) so worth a look. I bought the black but they have them in a nice blue colour too. Ooh I sound like an advert!! Grin

faustina · 13/09/2022 20:56

Those look nice @AFingerofFudge ! I did see the video but it was on my phone and it was difficult to see properly. Will look on my laptop tomorrow

If anyone's looking for alternatives to the cord dresses, I follow this company on Instagram and I'm quite tempted by her new dresses - lots of colours and huge pockets - and a very reasonable price!

faustina · 13/09/2022 20:57

oh that link doesn't seem to work!

www.foragesomerset.co.uk - hope this one does

ScottishMouse · 13/09/2022 21:06

Just watched the video, and I have to say some things looked much better on the models than on the website. I really liked the stone coloured needlecord dress with the tank over it. As well as the blue check dress (though I’m slightly put off by the massive collar).
I was in a store today and tried on the wool cotton skirt, which looked terrible on me as I am far too short and a bit too round around the middle. The colour was also more brown than the khaki it looks online. I also looked at, but really didn’t like in person, the cotton wool tops with the half sleeve. I thought they looked a bit cheap. I also tried on the jersey shirt in the khaki/black stripe, but didn’t love it on me, and didn’t feel like it was worth the price.

Countmeout · 14/09/2022 08:28

I saw those on Instagram @faustina . Do you have one? Just wondering what the quality is like. They look quite thin.
As for the video the only thing I liked was Nikki’s shirt which I thought might be too bulky at the shoulders. Now thinking about it again although she is tiny compared to me so that may help. The padded jacket looked a bit bulky . I think she suggested more coats to come, a different colour way in the parka has appeared, maybe more will trickle through. Did anyone think everything seemed very oversized?

Snowyowl78 · 14/09/2022 09:00

@Countmeout it was very oversized. I really like the blue check dress and I am really tempted now but no clue about sizing, I don’t want to have to order two as it’s so expensive. I think Nikki is very tiny and so everything looks neat and non bulky on her which isn’t a great yardstick. The models though are refreshingly normal which I like

TerrierOrTerror · 14/09/2022 10:06

@AFingerofFudge what is the Lucy and Yak sizing like? Ideally I'd want a 10-12 so if they run large/small it might help me out

faustina · 14/09/2022 10:31

@Countmeout - I don't have one. She did some wonderful cheesecloth dresses in the summer which I nearly bought, and then discovered no pockets, so I didn't. I might buy one of the cord dresses but so many things seem to be popping up now (also Cos sale starting soon), I thought I'd wait before buying more - especially after the huge amount of things I bought from Thrift, including two pairs of Toast trousers from there, plus a Coat of Dreams by Burberry (100% wool) and then the cord Gabis from Toast.

ScottishMouse · 14/09/2022 10:57

Holy moly! The parka is now £545!!! I tried it and considered buying it last year. I can’t remember the exact price, but I know it would have been absolutely nowhere near that (maybe £200+ less), as I wouldn’t have even taken it off the hanger. The price hikes are bonkers.

AFingerofFudge · 14/09/2022 11:46

@TerrierOrTerror they are large!! I'm
around a size 14 at the moment and ordered the medium and if anything they're a little too big for me but I'll hang onto them, the small are supposed to fit 8-10 so I think they'll end up being a little too small!

savvy7 · 14/09/2022 11:59

The parka was £395 as I recall. Toast are pricing themselves out of the market!

Snowyowl78 · 14/09/2022 12:00

I wonder if the sale might be tomorrow, some detective work has told me that it was on a Thursday both last year and the year before, seems like they give you one weekend and that’s it.

I thought they looked like the gabis too!

I like Lucy & Yak for quality but I've only bought two things and in the end didn't keep them, one was a fabulously 80's style pair of jeans and one pair of dungarees. I've since decided dungarees just aren't for me, and I didn't feel I could make the 80's style jeans look current, but they were great. I know there's a lot of love on here for gabis so I'll check them out, but hopefully more for future reference as I already have enough of everything (and just keep a eye out for toast sales)!
