Just idly browsing the sale again!

AmethystMoonShine · 20/06/2022 06:07

@ilovecherries I’m a steamer fan too. Very useful for fiddly bits on garments when ironing is tricky too. I should note that I’m not the greatest with an iron but I hate wrinkles. Mine’s just a little hand held in be but if I had the room I’d love one of those really big ones.
I agree with you that they’re great to freshen things and they avoid the wear and tear of washing when it’s not necessary.
It was a good few years ago now but I had a poplin top from Toast and the print was called ink spot or similar. It faded terribly and I can only think that was washing. I was so sad because I loved that print. So now I also baby my clothes and I’ve avoided a repeat of that so far….

AFingerofFudge · 20/06/2022 06:09

Not that I'm obsessed or anything, but I wonder how long it will be before they add more or do further reductions?

AmethystMoonShine · 20/06/2022 06:44

Ha ha you’re not alone @AFingerofFudge I keep reminding myself the sale has only been on a few days but I am so impatient! I want to know what else will be added.

ScottishMouse · 20/06/2022 07:44

Well, @AFingerofFudge & @AmethystMoonShine , looking through my emails I can see that last year the sale started on the 17th (16th for kindred members) and new items were added on the 29th. So next week sometime probably…

Laska2Meryls · 20/06/2022 07:57

Its annoying when you have bought on the preview and the thing is still available in all sizes days later ( the Emma tee , in this case) .. Do you go through the bother of sending it back , and reordering because you think it will be further reduced, and want to be in the 14 return period , or not ?
It used to be that Toast sales sold out so quickly that ypu didn't have that option ...

I really miss the John Lewis further reductions, which definitely made it worthwhile to send stuff back !

Well my dress arrived (sailor neck one) . I would say you may need your normal size in this one. The material is lovely, quite lightweight. But it’s not for me as I feel choked in the high neck and extra layer of fabric at the front. That’s all I ordered and nothing else calling out to me.

it’s been lovely seeing all your purchases.

Snowyowl78 · 20/06/2022 10:42

@Laska2Meryls ooh that’s a good idea, like it. Maybe I’ll do that as a few of mine are still on. I guess it’s a risk how long you wait….

TheChattyRat · 20/06/2022 11:26

Hellooo, I have a sale update now. @mizu the gingham dress is not a keeper for me. It is very wide and the puff sleeves seem to emphasise this - I’ve taken a photo to show that. The material and finish are good I think - the colour is more grey than black and white overall. The material feels like thick cotton but I think it has wool in it? I think I would like it if the sleeves suited me but they don’t and I would feel self conscious wearing it out I think.
My other purchase was the circle top - quite like this on but as others have said it feels quite restrictive in the arms area. Also attaching a picture!

Here is the circle top

mizu · 20/06/2022 11:36

@TheChattyRat thanks so much for sending a pic- alas it's a no for me too then as the sleeves were what I was pondering about!

Saurus72 · 20/06/2022 12:59

@TheChattyRat the top looks really lovely on you, though not good if it’s not comfy. Such a fab colour.

thanks for the comments re: the fair idle jumper, am keeping it. Also hoping the teal lacy yoke jumper comes back into stock, feeling the Scandi-ish vibes! Keeping everything crossed for good autumn/winter stock now, though eagle-eyed for any more sale stock.

ToastCosILoveIt · 20/06/2022 13:17

ScottishMouse · 19/06/2022 21:10

I am also interested in feedback on the linen smock dress as i have pondered this several times but concerned that it looks a little short and will then look boxy on me because I am busty.

dudsville · 20/06/2022 13:22

That's a shame about the gingham dress @TheChattyRat, not a surprise though. I looked at it to see if i could adjust the sleeves but they're so big! The circle top looks like the various joins would be annoying.

Re further drops, i was wondering if they were going to do this too. Some things have sold out, there were well over 400 items in the sale to start with. And don't they normally do the additional items and drops by now?

I love that jumper too @Saurus72 , quite scandi! I can't do jumpers anymore unless they're incredibly loose, but both colours are beautiful

Stoic123 · 20/06/2022 13:24

Final sales parcels (to date- see last point) arrived.

Fair Isle Lace Yoke in green/teal - is a keeper as some of you predicted (@Saurus72 - yes, worth keeping your eye out). Glad I went for large as I like relaxed sweaters and less generous cut than some Toast jumpers. Would have kept it at full price.

Fine stripe pinafore in blue - knew what would be like as have the green one. The blue colour actually suits me more. I wear the green one without a belt as more flattering and have no issues with beltless 'gaps' as mentioned in one review.

Loop back Roll Neck jersey top in charcoal- nothing special but nicely made and useful to sling on at home/for a walk - sales price keeper.

Circular tee in Coal - nicer shape than expected and very easy to wear- sales price keeper.

Cord trivet- much better than expected and worth a tenner easily - just bought a couple more as little presents (stocking fillers etc).

Snowyowl78 · 20/06/2022 13:47

@Stoic123 ive got the loop back in charcoal too, it’s exactly the same material as this below which i already have. I thought it might be handy for winter with leggings, it’s quite long! www.toa.st/products/loop-back-jersey-easy-sweater-charcoal

Snowyowl78 · 20/06/2022 13:49

Ps. No idea what loopback means!

Snowyowl78 · 20/06/2022 13:59

Oh haha there is a little loop on the back of it. Didn’t realise it was so literal!

NoCureForLove · 20/06/2022 14:22

@ScottishMouse I have the first of those 2 dresses in mustard bought a while back. I like it - simple shape and nice material. it's shorter than a lot of Toast dresses - a bit below knee on me at 5'5.

The other one I've seen in rl but not tried. It's v short and wide!

NoCureForLove · 20/06/2022 14:24

I think loopback is the material - like sweatshirt material - lots of little loops on reverse side... 😄

Stoic123 · 20/06/2022 15:12

I do like the loop on the back to hang - useful!

Snowyowl78 · 20/06/2022 15:16

@NoCureForLove @Stoic123 it does seem to be the description of the material, and also there is an actual loop at the back, handy!

NoCureForLove · 20/06/2022 15:44

Loopy!

faustina · 20/06/2022 16:39

I think they discussed that linen smock dress during one of their live things, and it sounded very interesting and thoughtfully done, but I also thought it looked too short and a bit boxy

anyway, the lichen jacket arrived and it's ok. The 8 is a good fit. I'm hanging onto it until something else arrives which I saw a fellow toast enthusiast wearing on Instagram - I think she's called Wearsitatkat - an ecru jacket from Zara. The lichen jacket is a bit shorter than I was hoping, and the pockets a bit too high up. I really like the colour though!
