I was in Glasgow today to have an MRI scan (nothing serious, part of a long term study) and was VERY happy to score the black and lime checked linen dress in a charity shop in a posh part of town. It was £24 and the woman was extremely apologetic about the price but said the manager had heard it was a really expensive brand. It’s a 14 so it a bit flappy round the armholes so I might get those altered a bit but I don’t think the additional swishiness elsewhere matters in a dress of that style.

Stoic123 · 23/06/2022 16:34

New stuff added to sale

Saurus72 · 23/06/2022 16:36

Thanks @Stoic123 - absolutely nothing I want even with all of the new stock. Waiting for the teal jumper to (hopefully) come back into stock. This has been a really disappointing sale for me! Hope others have more luck 😊

ScottishMouse · 23/06/2022 16:48

Thanks @Stoic123 ! Just placed a ridiculous order. The blue gingham shirt with the collar, which I have tried before but never bought. The slate linen cotton shirt that is still expensive in the sale but I wear my pecan one all the time. The blue gingham dress, which I have no idea about. The grey knitted jerkin which I love the look of, but who knows what it is like in real life. Left out the montella linen/cotton knit, as I would never look as good in it as the woman I passed earlier. Missed out on the navy collared linen cotton tshirt, as it’s now oos in my size. I’d like one or two items to be keepers, but can’t afford them all to be!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 23/06/2022 16:55

I was thinking about the Alix or the cocoa stripe trousers but as I've just got the wide leg in moss I cant really justify any more trousers.
As a side note I tried on the moss trousers with my black poplin shirt and DH said I looked like a liquorice allsort - might have to rethink my colour combinations Grin .

Snowyowl78 · 23/06/2022 17:07

Oh dear I have ordered a few bits! Pink tshirt and the other Emma which I’m sure will be a winner. And the brass shirt which is still v expensive, might have to send some other bits back to accommodate it! Think that pink shirt might be a bit sugary but it has good reviews

Snowyowl78 · 23/06/2022 17:09

Recommend this in the blue, good shape on me, usually shy away from the sleeveless but i really like it. Bit peeved it’s in the sale as I’ve not worn it much yet!

TheChattyRat · 23/06/2022 17:18

@ScottishMouse will you buy the check ‘fisherman’ style trousers again? I remember they looked good on you.

dudsville · 23/06/2022 17:33

Ooh, the patchwork print dress and the blue gingham are in the sale now. I've been wanting to try those, and they added some pjs I'd like to try. My poor little bank card!

I'm enjoying the updates, repurposing and sashaying, and what a find @ilovecherries !

Snowyowl78 · 23/06/2022 18:26

Has anyone got these in brass or slate and what’s the sizing like?

ScottishMouse · 23/06/2022 18:58

@Snowyowl78 , I have that shirt in the cheaper version (came in pecan and blue), and I find it on the large side, even for Toast. I bought an 8, but would usually be a 10 in Toast shirts. It has been so useful though, I wear it as a shirt sometimes, but more so as a light jacket. Totally recommend it.

ScottishMouse · 23/06/2022 19:00

Good memory @TheChattyRat ! I don’t think so. I really liked them, but it felt like a lot of fabric on me and i’m not sure I would wear them that much. I love the fabric though, so I’m hoping the dress is a keeper.

I think @Laska2Meryls has it. I think she may have both colours.

EmmatheStageRat · 23/06/2022 19:26

Oh happy days! There’s even a couple of 70 per cent off bits on the JL site. I was thrilled to be able to buy the black velvet jumpsuit (to put away for Christmas).

Gonegrey31 · 23/06/2022 19:28

I also have the older version of that shirt snowyowl78 , I have an 8 and it is a little oversize ( I’m often a 6 or XS in anything labelled relaxed / easy fit in Toast). However I really like the versatility of wearing it either as a shirt or jacket . I’ve worn mine a lot and also recommend it

Snowyowl78 · 23/06/2022 20:09

@Gonegrey31 @ScottishMouse @neveradullmoment99 thanks all! I would like it fairly big, ordered a 12, usually a M or L in toast stuff. Couldn’t justify buying several sizes!

Laska2Meryls · 23/06/2022 20:25

neveradullmoment99 · 23/06/2022 19:00

I think @Laska2Meryls has it. I think she may have both colours.

No, not those, they look nice though .. I have the fine stripe linen version in blue. ( Its oos now)
I wear mine as a kind of over shirt , over the longer cotton Oxford shirt..

Laska2Meryls · 23/06/2022 20:27

Well all I have added to my sale collection is the Teardrop PJ bottoms and the new Emma striped tee that has come on the sale today..
I did like a couple of the long scarves but as I have loads of scarves already, I didnt..
I had hoped that the Ogee cullottes would be reduced, but they are probably too recent stock for this sale

I've ordered a few bits, one being the knitted trivet as I can recall one or two people saying they were good. I have plans to put a large plant on it if it works. I've also gone for the sashiko coaster set as I think they're beautiful. I noticed that sashiko featured in the Sewing Bee semi final...although I didn't think many of the contestants really quite grasped what it was?

I've ordered the brick check nightie, just to see. Not sure on sizing with so many things so I keep ordering everything in 10 or 12 and S or M, which gets expensive until the refund is processed. I've also gone for the Ukiyo PJs in slate. I have lusted after these for ages and wanted the dhuggie too but that's obviously sold out already. Does anyone have them? I was wondering what the cut is like? I've again ordered two sizes as sod's law they'd sell out if I needed to re-order a different size. Also trying the carbon black raglan sleeve tee...their long sleeve tops are such staples for so much of the year when the weather is chillier.

I've been impressed so far at the speed of refunds in this sale. It's given me the confidence to order multiple sizes, which I've often been wary of with some of the problems we've had among us over the last year or so.

dudsville · 24/06/2022 11:10

I've also added to my sale purchases with the 'dark woodbine" shirt dress. As you said @AmethystMoonShine , returns are being processed speedily so i may as well try it!

I don't have the ukiyo, and i think that's what you were asking about? But i did try the brick (and the other colour) check pjs and found the tops exceptionally roomy, so much so that i returned. But I don't have a lot going on up top.

dudsville · 24/06/2022 11:11

Oh, i didn't read your post properly, i DO have the check (both colours) nightie. I'm a high street 14, and got them in medium and they're wonderfully comfy.

AmethystMoonShine · 24/06/2022 11:42

Thanks @dudsville yes the brick check nightie is the one I've ordered, I'm glad you like it. I've gone for a S and a M, but suspect I might go for the M as I like nightwear to be roomy. I'm a generous 12, hips more like 14 so sounds about right.

Laska2Meryls · 24/06/2022 11:53

I tried the Ukiyo dhuggie twice, loved the print and really wanted it to like it on me but somehow it just felt too busy ....
but having said that I think that it would look b broken up with something plain on top or bottom .. so I have ordered the Pjs and will see if they work as seperates.. (I got the M ). The fabric i know is a good weight for a top which means that it could definitely work as a shirt .. I wouldn't wear flowery trousers out , but id certainly wear them as lounge wear ..

I have to 'confess' to even more FOMO buying!! .. The Avery scarf which is so lovely (I am such a sucker for lightweight wrap/ scarves even though I have eleventy billion already) and the Alpaca striped jumper in brick and blue.. However they only had an XL left in that so it may be too big even though I like my jumpers sloppy..
(however some of the reviews seem to say its small ,so I thought id give it a punt)..
Heck! hopefully for my wallet , I will be sending some back ...
