@Saurus72 - I love the fairisle pattern and colour but if it were me, the neck being quite high and the top so fitted would drive me bananas. I'd spend all day tugging at it

ScottishMouse · 18/06/2022 15:59

oh no! I have tried the trousers again and I think I might have to keep them! I have turned them up here (once on one leg and twice on the other) to get an idea of how they would look if I took them up.

Countmeout · 18/06/2022 16:14

Just checking in. I am still on holiday. My dress that I don’t need is due on Tuesday by which time I will be back.
it won’t fit, I’ve eaten too much !

applecatchers36 · 18/06/2022 16:36

Thanks Laska for the new thread.

Saurus I like the fair isle knit it suits you.

Scottish mouse I also got the Japanese trousers. I wore them yesterday when it was really hot. Wore a white top and sandals and wore out to lunch with my friend. Think they will be comfy for home / lounging, but can also be dressed up for going out. I am 5ft 6 and they are cropped on me. Haven’t got anything like them in my wardrobe so they add something new.

dudsville · 18/06/2022 17:28

😆@ScottishMouse . I did think i might taper my pair, but I'm sitting on that for a bit.
Lovely choices @SmaugMum that katha gown will certainly be an heirloom piece.

dudsville · 18/06/2022 18:15

And i like your layering there, I'm going to try that tomorrow!

mizu · 18/06/2022 20:02

Nothing much at the Cheltenham TOAST circle either, much like the Edinburgh one it seems.

Did though manage to swap my Dora denim dress which I've had for years and is now a little snug around the chest, for a black sleeveless denim dress, long and darted at the waist.

DD1 17 was with me and tried on the other shorter sleeveless denim dress on the rail and loved it Grin.

Other than that, I was disappointed. I have a couple of vouchers that I will save for London in the summer.

TheChattyRat · 18/06/2022 20:40

It’s lovely to hear about all the sale purchases. The red jacket is a winner all round. I’m having trouble scrolling on my phone so can’t remember exactly who bought it. I like the fairisle jumper @Saurus72 and have a similar one which is useful in the winter, it seems to have washed and worn well.
@SmaugMum nice to see you back and sorry to hear you have had a difficult year. You were the queen of the John Lewis 70% off. I always seemed to just miss out which was very frustrating!
I’ve noticed a few new things in the sale - a wrap pinafore dress that I like the look of. Does anyone have it / tried it? I think they also did it in denim. Everything I like in the sale still seems so high in price which restricts my sales spending somewhat!
@mizu and @ScottishMouse interesting to hear back from the circle events - they may not have as much success due to eBay / vinted / depop (apologies if anyone else reported back).
My sale purchases are due Monday.

dudsville · 18/06/2022 20:49

I have the denim one @TheChattyRat , the things i don't like about it are all due the the heavy denim and i can only imagine that the linen would be wonderful in all the ways the denim can't be. I could go to battle in the thing. I've been building up the courage to turn it into a wrap skirt. Doesn't help you any!

mizu · 18/06/2022 20:57

@TheChattyRat please do report back on the gingham dress!

neveradullmoment99 · 18/06/2022 22:22

Hi there. Just marking my place on this thread. Lovely sale purchases. I have been very restrained. Not too much that I wanted. Have ordered some grey culottes and the kettle bag in grey. It looks like its quite woolly but not sure in real life. I do like its simplicity although the fact it does not have a clasp might annoy me. My order has not arrived yet but it due on Monday although I think no one is in so wont be able to collect until Wed morning at the earliest.
Considered ordering a few more things but think I will hang on until they have reduced more things. Hanging out for the linen dress in lilac or the other linen dress in the yellow. Have worn both these dresses loads in different colours. They are fab.

neveradullmoment99 · 18/06/2022 22:25

Loving some of the new things too... the emma half sleeve in pistachio and the other striped one is gorgeous.

Stoic123 · 19/06/2022 09:31

@neveradullmoment99 - I have that kettle bag and use it a lot- perfect for just phone/car wallet/keys (and poo bags if walking friend's dog). Use it for nipping out to shops/supermarket/on walks. Also use if I have bigger bag (travelling) but want passport/money etc close to hand.

Lack of clasp means I wouldn't use for trip into city etc..but fine away from crowds/things haven't spilled out.

dudsville · 19/06/2022 10:15

The shortened-sleeve seed check dress has had it's first wear, and I'm happy to say it gives me the happiness that only comes from a toast item. I wore it with a faded black denim slightly loose fitting gap jacket and black and white trainers and i basically skipped happily alongside my dogs on their walk.

I've scrolled up but can't find the reference @mizu makes, which gingham dress are you trying @TheChattyRat ? I love the pihu but i tried it in every size and it just doesn't work for me, i love the current square collared ones too. I'm a sucker for gingham and check patterns.

TheChattyRat · 19/06/2022 10:25

It’s the puff sleeve one @dudsville 🙂

Nanasueathome · 19/06/2022 10:41

Here you all
For some reason I couldn’t get into the last thread….message said it had dropped behind the sofa.
I’ve ordered just one sale item so far
Tangram print dress. Due for delivery tomorrow
From checking my previous orders i’m sure that they will add more stuff going forward and they also reduce further
Will see how it goes
I have a few (6) other things in my basket but will sit and wait

ilovecherries · 19/06/2022 11:21

I’m wearing the oldies today. Half my summer clothes are living in our caravan so was limited when I opened the wardrobe this morning. Linen striped Japanese trousers and poplin pyjama jacket.

AmethystMoonShine · 19/06/2022 11:24

Also like the fair isle on you @Saurus72 - I might be biased as I'm now definitely keeping mine after a second round of trying on this morning of everything I ordered.

I've sent back, at least in cash terms about half of what I ordered, which is just as well really. I've also sent back the cotton Twill dart trousers in olive which did nothing for me shape wise. I have kept the Cotton Twill Tapered trousers in fresh olive - I like these a lot, they work with my shape and will keep an eye out for these in other fabrics or colours.

The circle chambray top had one more go but it just confirmed that the sleeves don't work for me. Also going back are the ecru carpenter jeans which I had high hopes for but they made me look like a rectangle sadly.

I'm also keeping the neat jumper in olive after a further try on, it's a nice shape for me and the colour works well for me too.

Not clothing but I am also keeping the pottery dinner candle holder which is lovely and will live in my office where I'll see it lots!

Put in a cheeky order last night for the white pepper slubby gathered sleeve top as I liked the olive green one. Not sure what the colour will be like though as it looks creamy online but reviews describe it as beige......

So far regretting not ordering the soft circle top in plum as now sole out in my size but I shall stalk returns over the coming days.

Loving hearing about everyone's purchases, try ons and rejects! I've missed the Toast chat :)

ScottishMouse · 19/06/2022 14:58

Thanks @dudsville I did like them with the layers on top, but I have decided to return them. They are a bit baggy on the backside on me, and I’m afraid that they would only get more so after wear. So, just the poplin shirt and hazel sweater to decide about before I pack the parcel back up to send back.

ScottishMouse · 19/06/2022 15:01

@ilovecherries , love that yellow poplin pj shirt on you. I’m trying to decide whether to keep the slate one, and if so which if two sizes to keep. Can you tell me if it has washed well, and if it shrank at all? I’m not normally a fan of poplin, but it is such a lovely shirt.

ilovecherries · 19/06/2022 17:11

ScottishMouse, I do love a bit of poplin. Love the texture and the rustle. This has washed fine though I do baby my clothes a bit, and I air outside and use a steamer for items that still look clean and haven’t been next to my skin, so despite wearing this a fair bit, it’s only been washed 2/3 times. I think the trick with poplin is not to overspin so I do it on the silk setting with a low spin and shake and hang up immediately. T hasn’t shrunk and actually when I put it on today my DH asked if it was new. A rare occasion when I can honestly say ‘oh this? Had it for ages’!

Laska2Meryls · 19/06/2022 17:55

I like that yellow shirt on you Cherries , but its the 'rustle' of poplin , that puts me off wearing them much . I dont think it ever goes away.. I have slate and the white poplin shirt from last year ( or maybe the year before) and its that and the stiffness of them despite washing that means that they are not so often reached for..
They do iron well though.
I did think maybe I should chuck some pebbles in with mine to try and soften the fibres, but probably would just wreck the machine !

ScottishMouse · 19/06/2022 18:26

Thanks @ilovecherries ! You sound like a woman after my own heart. I also baby my clothes, although I don’t have a steamer. But my birthday is coming soon, maybe I should put one on my wishlist 😂

ilovecherries · 19/06/2022 18:37

A steamer is just brilliant for a freshen up between wears. It doesn’t completely negate the need for ironing after washing but it really perks things up.

ScottishMouse · 19/06/2022 21:10

Has anyone tried either of these dresses and could report back?
