And I’m a pretentious ‘mama, not a ‘mummy’. I’m not British, in my defence 🤷🏻‍♀️

WellThatsMeScrewed · 13/05/2022 15:05

@HailAdrian oh so it’s just women you don’t like?

Well, as a working class mother, I love my female friends and family. I don't find most women in real life to have anything in common with the women on this thread. In my experience, it's usually men who like to bash transwomen because they can't understand them.

How on earth would you know if they had anything in common with us? Literally all you know about any of us is that we find an advert showing an adult dressed as a fetishised image of a toddler offensive.

ReadyToMoveIt · 13/05/2022 15:11

I didn’t realise being middle class was something we could be insulted for either.

If you are middle class, why would you feel insulted by being called middle class? It's hardly a secret that MN is mostly made up of white, middle class mums.

JaneJeffer · 13/05/2022 15:17

@HailAdrian you're the one who keeps bringing up trans women. You're obsessed.

I am absolutely confident that the women I know would not accuse this company of paedophilia because of this ad. Some of the shitty men I know might take issue with it.

Butteryflakycrust83 · 13/05/2022 15:20

I still want to know who dresses their toddler like this image.

Complete with face paint.

FourTeaFallOut · 13/05/2022 15:10

I'm not sure what's taken more of a hiding this decade, the word woman or liberal?

indeed. I hadn’t realised my tights were meant to demonstrate or align with my politics. God it’s such a nightmare, finding rights that stay up and don’t ladder and accurately set out out my views on the flaws of trickle down economics.

HailAdrian · 13/05/2022 15:20

Well, at least I'm not seeing paedophilia everywhere.

ReadyToMoveIt · 13/05/2022 15:20

Ah well that’s ok then as I haven’t accused a company of paedophilia. Im not sure a ‘company’ can be guilty of that offence.
I am however accusing them of deliberately using fetishised imagery in order to sell their products to a particular demographic.

As has been explained multiple times upthread, that’s exactly the point. He isn’t dressed as a toddler. That would be what? Leggings and a t-shirt? Jeans and jumper? He has been dressed as a fetishised image of a toddler.

CurbsideProphet · 13/05/2022 09:46

Yep that type of photo is why I don't buy from Snag and hide any of their adverts that appear.

I find Snag tights a better fit and more comfortable than any other brand I have tried. A bit of dubious advertising won't put me off buying them. I can't even tell from the photo whether it is a real woman or a trans woman TBH.

JaneJeffer · 13/05/2022 15:22

There's none so blind as those that will not see.

bellinisurge · 13/05/2022 15:24

Don't want autogynophilia anywhere near me. Including things I spend my money on.

FourTeaFallOut · 13/05/2022 15:24

I've got bad news HailAdrian, I'm working class and I'm not so blinded by my BeKind goggles that I can't see a grown man posing as a little girl clutching a unicorn for the sort of boundary dissolving fetishistic bullshit that it really is. We walk amongst you.

Dianaofthelakeofshiningwaters · 13/05/2022 15:26

JanisMoplin · 13/05/2022 15:21

😂

😂And if that wasn't hard enough we've also got to remember to be at our optimum weight and age in order to be "more liberal than most people" according to @Butteryflakycrust83. This woman's work is never bloody ending ...😀

Pennox · 13/05/2022 15:27

You should probably ask MN themselves about their demographics stats rather than relying on sad old Daily Mail/TRA tropes about Boden-wearing middle class mums. I seem to come across lots of people who say they are working class/non-white/struggling to make ends meet as much as the MC stereotype. Also an increasing amount of men.

Of course it's the internet and they could all be unicorns/lying for all we know but you really do seem stuck on all the old stereotypes - middle-aged, middle-class, pearl catching etc. You'll be calling us right wing fascists next, which really is laughable.

Very few women I know in RL actually present like this. What they do have in common is being sick of being made to participate in mens sexual fetishes that they are not involved with or interested in, particularly when they're based on lowering norms around the sexualisation of children. I guess because most are mothers - not all though, lots of people on here are childless as well, either by choice or trying to have a family.

Butteryflakycrust83 · 13/05/2022 15:28

Funnily enough, I don't know what a fetishised toddler looks like.

But again, cant see anyone else using pictures of women dressed up in similar clothing.

Or should I look at the below and shout that the ice cream is actually a penis?

RampantIvy · 13/05/2022 15:28

Was that to me @JaneJeffer?
Why? The picture quality on my laptop isn't great so it is difficult to tell.

And why do they only ever feature very curvaceous women on their web page? Women come in all shapes and sizes. I know they are inclusive, but It took me a while for me to realise that they don't only sell plus sized tights.

And lastly, why do Snag imagine that grown women want to wear My Little Pony tights?

Butteryflakycrust83 · 13/05/2022 15:28

What about this one? Also a perv?

This is why people are creeped out by Snag Tights

Where on earth did I say that? What a reach!

HailAdrian · 13/05/2022 15:31

I've never in my life told someone to 'be kind.' No one is smashing the patriarchy by being deliberately unkind about people for no reason though. There is no point at all in pretending a lot of people here don't just hate transwomen because they are biologically male.

Anyway, as pp have said, quite fairly, I don't even know if the model is a transwoman.

hellrabbitishere · 13/05/2022 15:32

Beowulfa · 13/05/2022 14:38

Yes I find this amusing too.

In the UK it's cold for about half the year, a lot of tights sales to be made. And demographically, the vast majority of people buying them will be middle aged women purchasing for themselves and/or school-aged daughters. But some twonk in Marketing thinks they'll be tempted by toddler fetish imagery.

but then are most middle aged mothers that work in an office really going to be buying this particular pair of tights ? when the marketing and advert was done i guessing they knew bloody well that they werent trying to attract that particular market and they are going for the younger teenage , twentysomethings who would be more than happy to buy a pair of carebear tights or whatever they are and wont give a shit about the advert .

its amusing to see everyone get all worked up about the advert and the oh well they obviously arent catering to me , well no when it comes to this particular pair of tights no they arent , why is that a big deal ? 🙄

im sure they do plenty of plain black or discreet colours that many people would buy or is it that old shit about well i dont like this advert so im never going to buy another one of their products again ,

is it the same as all those people who spout that crap about not shopping from lush because they object to the odd advertising campaign and the fact that lush are apparently really tough or have unreaching high standards of their staff ?

which again i find laughable as im in retail and have been for literally all my working life and i can tell you there are many companies that treat their staff like shit including the one i work for , i also have known at least 3 people that have or do work at tesco and they also do not treat their staff great , but im betting thats not going to lead everyone to stop doing the weekly shop there to make a stand , anymore than it would stop women buying perfume and shampoo , makeup from the company i work for if they knew how we are treated .

i find all it all a load of santimonous crap really
