Interesting article....

This mentions 'cisgender' and is not a GC source: dailytitan.com/opinion/kink-shame-me-daddy-age-play-perpetuates-pedophilia/article_63e3aae9-166e-5545-9b40-5f18d21186f0.html

DomesticatedZombie I will read those articles in more detail - and thanks - but the first one does not suggest that people who indulge in this kind of fetish are predators looking for actual children to have sex with. It suggests that they reenact an idealised and rather warped perception of what they think childhood is, but it suggests they do this with other adults, not with children. You don't have to like that - it makes me go 'ew' - but it doesn't suggest these people are actual child sexual predators. I'll read on, but until I see evidence that people who indulge in age play are a risk to children, I remain sceptical.

TalkingCat can you find me some research links supporting your contention that people who dress like this are likely to be child abusers?

Just read the newspaper? or use google?

Last case I read was less than a month ago. Nasty case, but they always are. That's not to say this type of fetish always leads to paedophilia, and I don't have any issue with pretty much any behaviour between two consenting adults, but I do have an absolutely huge issue with the normalisation of sexualised childhood objects and clothing in adverts.

DomesticatedZombie · 13/05/2022 18:02

It is good to be sceptical. But there is also an argument for using common sense, I would say. Have a wee bit of a look about on 'age play' and I think you may become less sceptical quite fast.

@pointythings can you expand on /explain how you are using the term "age play"?

Are you, at any time, using this term to describe an adult who engages in sexual activity as part of "age play"?

It only takes about 10 seconds on google to find a list of people (I say people, of course it's almost always males) who have been convicted of nasty sex offences towards children in connection with this type of fetish. Stories are regularly in the papers. It takes a certain level of faux naivety to ignore it.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/05/2022 18:33

It's only on here that there's the automatic link that trans woman = paedophile or other sexual predator.

There really is no such link made, and the only people referring to anything to do with trans here are the edgy Snag tights lovers.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/05/2022 18:34

Yet on this thread, the only ones equating it with that are the defenders.

Yes, funny that.

Mumsnet hate men not wearing jeans and a t shirt from Jacamo like their own husbands.

You really dont get it do you?

I'd be happy for my sons to wear dresses, tutus, kilts, skirts, dresses, nail polish whatever they wanted - as long as they didn't try and pretend they were women.

My male partner wears nail polish for example (and jeans TBF, up to him) - but he knows he's a man and male and doesn't pretend otherwise.

What about all the lesbian women on here? (There's lots) - are their wives allowed to wear jeans?

You've really missed the point of the GC position I'm afraid - we want to break down stupid gender stereotypes that result in men in fishnets, heels and revealing clothes because they think that how women 'should' look - not force people to dress and look a certain way.

TalkingCat · 13/05/2022 17:53

They use the term 'cisgender'?

Well, they can fuck off then, and take their terminology with them. As an actual real live human two x-chromosome biological woman, I find it offensive. And no, I haven't opened the link.

Rainbowshit · 13/05/2022 19:05

Jeez have none of you ever heard of David Challenor? He was into age play and look what he did?!?!

DomesticatedZombie · 13/05/2022 19:08

I think the point TalkingCat was making is that the article is not coming from a 'gc' perspective so could be considered to be offering a different view. But it's still noting the links between 'age play' and 'paedophilia'.

I was surprised at how little research there seems to be into this area, though. Could be that terminology has changed? Or has what was previously an incredibly small niche interest become much more visible and popular?

I find any sexualising of children, either directly via images of children themselves in sexualised positions and clothing, or adults dressed as children in a sexualised way, to be inappropriate and disturbing. How about we have some nice adverts of adults dressed in school uniforms? Oh no, we can't, because the Advertising Standards Authority doesn't allow symbols of youth to be used in a sexualised way. Boring old ASA spoiling everyone's sexy time.

and yet im having trouble seeing the advert as sexualising children , iv been around the block a lot in my nearly 50 years and iv never seen a kid dressed like the model ever , i mean just not ever , not even when they are going to a birthday party , what they seem to have gone for is a dolls look more than anything , it reminds me of what an old fashioned doll would wear only funked up to look modern

hellrabbitishere · 13/05/2022 20:24

Rubyupbeat · 13/05/2022 17:08

Fgs, there is nothing wrong with the picture, not my cup of tea, plus it's rather odd, but there's nothing paedophile like about it. It's just like a kind of cosplay outfit. I don't understand the kind of minds that automatically see deviant sex in most things.

im not getting it either , they have gone for a wacky modern doll like outfit that dosent resemble any outfit iv ever seen a child in and so what if the model is posing with soft toys , the tights are carebears or summit , everything these days has to have some sort of hidden deviant harmful meaning and if you dont see it your labeled a bit backward

JaneJeffer · 13/05/2022 20:24

age play 🤮

SommerTen · 13/05/2022 20:55

I've just looked on the Snag website and there are no my little pony tights for sale on there.
No soft toys in sight.
Neither do there seem to be any obviously trans models.
Btw some of the models are quite slim ( not that it matters).

@WowStarsWow are you sure this was an official Snag Tights advertisement??

It’s not the easiest site to find things on. The My Little Pony section is here

I don't hate anyone and don't have any phobias. I am GC though and don't believe people can change sex and don't want men in women's spaces. I do believe that the trans agenda promotes harmful gender stereotypes that damage everyone, particularly lesbians and that children under 18 should be left the fuck out of it. Outside that I'd like consenting adult to crack on with whatever they're into as long as it's not hurting anyone else. No hatred there I'm afraid. I just don't want other people's interests and agendas rammed down my throat, especially when they damage mine.

This.

GoldenOmber · 13/05/2022 21:37

Snag also do fairly standard (if a bit try-hard quirky) photos on their website, but push more, well, creative approaches on their social media and social media ads.
